Well, I'm glad the bench kept it competitive, though Harden basically not showing up tonight certainly helped. I think we all penciled in a loss here, anyway. When was the last time the Spurs got season-swept by two conference rivals in the same season?

timtonymanu
04-14-2014, 09:17 PM
:lmao Harden is 4/16 against a Green and Leonard-less Spurs team?

I hope it's no fluke. Our chances against Houston increase dramatically in a series if Harden doesnt play like he is Michael Jordan every game.

LMAO @ the rockets trying their hardest to beat us without 3 of our best players...

Anyone that was worried about the rockets, shouldn't be after this game. I don't even see this rockets team getting out of the first round, tbh.

That's my takeaway from this game, they had to play their starters to hold off our roster diminished team. Bring them on in the 2nd round.IF they make it.

Only matters if either one beats the Spurs 4 times out of 7 in the playoffs. You don't get banners and rings for not getting swept in the reg. season.

Lol at the announcers treating this like they just beat the Spurs out of the playoffs. Spurs get RS swept by HOU and OKC. #TankForWiggins

I guess it was about HCA in the first round for them, so it was important for them.

What a great great game coached by Pop. The Spurs practically played with their third unit the entire fourth quarter and nearly gave the Rocks a scare. And lol at the Houston announcers cheerleading a team that barely scraped through against a JV squad (Austin Daye, Damion James, Aron Baynes, Cory Joseph - lol!).

I don't know you can't really take anything from this game. Yeah it looks bad for Houston to just barely beat our 3rd string for most of the game, but it's an entirely different game if our best players play their best players. It's not necessarily additive like "oh look our 3rd string just lost by 6 so if we played leonard, green, splitter, and our big 3 playoff minutes we would've won by 20!" It just doesn't work like that.

Harden played like shit today. For that matter so did Parsons. The only one that brought it today was Beverly, Jones and Howard.

Pop was brilliant, yea it would have been nice to win, but to win short handed, or at least push their entire roster to the limit with a limited roster is a win/win, as long as no one got hurt, and it doesn't appear that anyone did. In fact having to struggle to beat us without key players in, makes that sweep not taste as sweet, they can't be as confident as they were.

The two big keys tonight were that Harden was practically non-existent, getting more than half of his points from the FT line and committing idiotic fouls on defense, and that the Spurs shot very poorly from 3 (in part due to the lack of Green and Leonard). Harden's usually good for 25+ and the Spurs, while they haven't shot particularly well from 3 against Houston, will in all likelihood be better in the POs.

I'm surprised that some rocket fans (maybe not here but in general) feel so confident against us. 2 wins before the new year, then 2 games where both teams aren't at full strength is not a big deal. The end result will say 4-0 season series, but I think to the rocket fans that want to see SA might be disappointed if/when that match up happens.

Spurs clinched Home court advantage with the best record already, which means OKC is the second seed and will be facing the Mavs. Spurs are going to face whoever wins tonight, either Memphis or Phoenix. I'm hoping it will be the Grizzles.

Parker and Pop we're yucking it up and joking around before tony said he was gonna take a shower get some treatment and get ready to go before he left.

If you ever get a chance to sit behind the spurs bench you have to do it. The timeouts are worth the price of admission alone.

Pop saying to Corey Joseph "what the fuck offense are you running"
And telling Baynes to stop taking fucked up layups and dunk the fucking ball" was great as well.

Phoenix is a bigger threat to me than Memphis but the 1st round should be easy for the Spurs, but yes the next 2 rounds will be tough assuming we get that far. If the Spurs can make the Finals again, they have to be heavy favorites to win it all.

What hurts the Spurs is teams with good shooters, especially at the PG and SG position. We get torched by teams like the Warriors, Blazers, and almost lost to the Suns a couple days ago because of Eric Bledsoe

Looks like Pop really wanted to help the Blazers by forcing the rox to beat NO for HCA. NO would have played spoiler to the Rox I'm pretty sure about that. Props to spurs bench - they are great system players. Feels good to sweep the Spurs. I know they wanted a little confidence heading to the playoffs. I know the playoffs will be a different animal, but I like our chances.

With the Warriors down 11 in the first half to Minnesota, a possible loss today would make Dallas fight for that win against Memphis, cuz there's a possibility they jump into the 6th spot and avoid OKC in the first round if GSW also lose @Denver on the final day. If I'm Dallas I still prefer facing the Clippers over the Thunder, nobody wants to see Durant even if you have a better record against OKC in the regular season in comparison to LAC. Gonna be interesting for sure. Memphis were up big @PHX and Phoenix made a great effort and run to finish the half just down 4 points.

I think I might rather be the third seed, though.... the Warriors without Bogut are a more favorable opponent than a third straight year of Memphis thugball, and it's not like homecourt changes the fixed reffing, which is really the only scary aspect of OKC :lol

We can beat Memphis, but the problem is that it'd be a drawn-out series and the team would come out of it banged-up and injured (since the refs always allow them to take physicality to the extreme against us on defense while giving them Durant treatment on offense)...
