The team will probably end up selling for upwards of $2 billion, tbh.... a team in the nation's 2nd-biggest media market with a favorable lease at their arena and the TV deal up for negotiation is always going to fetch a lot of money on the open market....

So you are saying Clippers are worth more than any NFL franchise Cowboys are worth little above 1 billion. No way clipper are worth that much dude is overpaying or scaring all the other bidder.

wouldn't it be cheaper to buy spurs/thunder/mavs or any small market team for 700-800 million and spend 1 billion to move & give job to couple of million people so make the market big lol just being funny!

for 1.8 Billion sell him brand new team in Seattle and sell clipper to somebody else! NBA owner each will get around 50 million for new team in Seattle lol

Not a chance he would offer that much in hopes of a move to Seattle. With an owner willing to pay consistently for top talent, LA is the top money-making city. Lakers could fetch at least 3 times what the Clippers would sell for.

If the Clippers are going to be worth 4 billion in 10 years, who is the moron?

He is worth 20 billion so he has investment money.
LA metro has 20+ million people and not all are Laker Krishnas.
If the Clipps could get competent management and win, lots of people who would support the team and the advertizing $$$$ would follow.

Mistake there is perhaps co vastly overated Doc.
While Chris Paul is indeed a huge vag and indeed Doc has tried to adjust his attitude, i don't think he has tried hard enough.
Docs non stop whining about the one play at the end vs OKC (which may have technically been the correct call due to insane NBA rulebook), instead of addressing their 13 point lead choke was sad.
He was great in the one Champ year vs the Lamers. In the 2nd Celt - Lamer matchup, the blown 4th qtr lead even with Lakeref workin it was a blown Championship.

Sterling is about to put a big shit stain on the nba with their hypocrisy. A few of those stories leaked about Shaq and spreewell and the nba immediately offered to hold off the vote if he agreed to sell. Now this crazy offer.

NBA is scrambling to make something happen quick! Why that huge of on offer?

Not quite, how much something is worth would be how much value it would have in the big picture, essentially its market value. How much somebody would pay for it would be how much they simply pay for it. Balmer is paying above market value because there's a future potential of the Clippers one must pay a premium for, but it does not contribute to its current day value.

DMC
05-29-2014, 09:12 PM
33% of that or 666 million would be for capital gains taxes.

Donald Sterling is the Beast.

something is only worth what others are willing to pay. if i buy a mercedes for 80k, didn't drive it once, and now want to sell it, and have zero buyers, guess what. that shit aint worth 80k

If somebody is willing to pay 2,000,000 for a Camry, it wont make it worth two million dollars.

Not at all, it's how much was paid for it. Worth is a breakdown of assets, liquid or not, and marketing potential in this case. The most valuable teams today were purchased for far less than they art worth due to the NBA's growth.
