Now I know no one's been rougher on him than me here ever since he recommended Ayres and then forgot about Kawhi earlier in the regular season but the guy has seen the Heat play more than anyone on the team. So, it's possible to believe that he can provide some additional insight about them that Pop and the team didn't have before. Here's hoping he can finally make us forget we no longer have Bud or Brown.

good point, you can expect him to drop a few in at his regular clip this postseason, but i doubt they leave him alone at the 3 point line, they won't make that mistake again.

People also forget Green was the only 3 point shooter that was hot in that series. Now with Manu looking better and Diaw, Mills, and hopefully Marco, Green could still get good looks as well as contributions from the bench.

For whatever it's worth, Monty McCutchen has been the crew chief for Game 1 of the Finals in each of the last 2 years and Scott Foster has been the crew chief for Game 4 of the Finals in 3 of the last 4 years (he wasn't a crew chief in 2011 and worked Game 3 instead of Game 4). Also, Joey Crawford and Danny Crawford have alternated Games 2 and 3 for each of the last 3 years: in 2011, Joey had Game 2 and Danny had Game 3; in 2012, Danny had Game 2 and Joey had Game 3; in 2013, Joey again had Game 2 and Danny had Game 3.

I don't know that any of that history actually means anything for 2014.

I do think that whoever is the crew chief in Game 1 will end up calling 3 games in this series if it goes to Game 7.

So nervous. If Thunder had a healthy Ibaka and upgrades coach to Erik Spoelstra (don't need Pop if you have that much talent) level, I really don't think Spurs would have made it to the finals. I still firmly believe Heat is less talented than Thunder but more than makes it up with better team offense/defense. LeBron also logged significantly less minutes than Durant this year and has more in the tank.

Game 1 is a must win, LeBron is finding whatever little motivation he could from Tim's comments, and will try to come out with a lot of fire. Lose and we won't survive the 6th game, heck we may get swept. By the same token if we win convincingly, it will serve a cold hard truth that the only reason they looked good this year is of inferior competition. Psychologically it is too big.

Once I saw Ibaka out for playoffs I thought Spurs had it in the bag. Even when he returned I knew he was not going to be 100%.

Unfortunately, we are in the same situation with Parker. I have a feeling this series will not be anywhere near as close as last year. It would be more like Spurs/Thunder games 1-5. Both teams are capable of winning in just one round of burst damage.

If they go small, how do they stop the Spurs from pounding it in the middle? Miami is already the worst rebounding team in the league.

I feel the same way. Up to this point, the Spurs have had a perfect playoff run. They have been challenged just enough throughout these playoffs to keep them alert and focused for their next opponent. They have gone through the wake-me-up series against a smart, veteran Mavs team. They have been challenged by the youth and athleticism of the Blazers. They followed that up by erasing the demons of OKC and the backdoor sweep, facing the newly crowned MVP Durant, Serge Ibaka, the best defender against the Spurs, and the hyper athletic freak that is Russell Westbrook.

Top it all off with the constant reminder from the pundits about 6, call me overconfident, but I just can't see how the Heat can beat the Spurs this time around.

Diaw isn't going to start and that should be obvious by Pop starting Bonner last series. I actually wanted Bonner to start after game 4 because he was perfect for component for a few minutes. Starting Splitter makes more sense now because now there isn't Ibaka standing right next to him. He can potentially give us extra possessions and possibly do some decent offensive work against Lewis. Sure Lewis did well on West but Splitter is better at PnR towards the rim.

As it has been throughout the playoffs, the keys for dem Spurs are rebounding and taking care of the ball.....

The ball movement will be there, we will miss/make shots, the rotations will be solid....but the turnovers & rebounding are a measure of the Spurs' focus and effort.

If they can maintain a high level in those key areas, it's extremely hard to beat San Antonio. Hopefully we see a tremendous effort tonight because they will need it.
