View Full Version : I'm already hating Shane Battier, tbh

Despite claims he's a shell of his former self from last year, he's one of those guys that always steps up against us.

I have mad respect for him, because he's a smart, hard-working guy, but he's their Bruce Bowen. Love him in your team, hate him on the other. The Bowen comparison I think fits perfectly. He has the same dirty defense, flamboyant flopping, and it's the kind of vet that built a reputation, can get away with shit, and does get away with shit (see Fisher in the previous round for another example).

He was there for 8 in Memphis, and obviously coming through huge for Miami last year in the last game.

Would actually be sweet to avenge that too with a championship win... and potentially sending another Spurs-killer into retirement, tbh

Yeah I don't like him either, I think he could limit Boris influence quite significantly tbh, I can see some Manu-esque low post defense ending in flops... Hopefully Boris can dominate him and draw Lebron but I'm not especially optimistic...

Battier was the best 6th man Spur player in the Finals.

He was one of the main reason Spurs were able to take Heat to the brink. I hope Battier averages 40 minutes per game tbh

why do you think he only played so little? he was completely awful and was eventually benched. Of course for game 7 he made a comeback but series was already over then. He did start playing at the beginning of the series and was the best Spur 6th man.

I hope to God Battier plays a LOT this series

He can be more easily exploited on defense that Miller was. Lewis being posted by Diaw and even Splitter if the Spurs go back to their normal starting lineup.

Unlike the Thunder, the Heat have a bench full of coat tailers that can hurt you with scoring and defense. Hopefully Manu's crew will be up to the challenge.

cd021
06-02-2014, 10:35 PM
I'm not sold that their bench as is good as last year. They don't have the luxury of dusting off Miller when Battier shot goes south. They started playing Lewis again after a year of being out of their rotation. His advanced numbers aren't very good, not to mention he is hitting only 32% of his 3's.

In the Indiana series Battier only averaged 13 minutes. Lewis's DRtg was 109 (most of his minutes was as a starter)

I got nothing but respect for Battier. Guy is all you could ask for from a role-player -- skill, class, workmanship. I want to get our 5th as much as the next guy, but I hope he and the rest of the Heat are at their best so we can all watch some great basketball.
