SpurPadre, u da real mvp.
Did not like the defense at all, Miami bricked A LOT of wide open 3's (aside of Bosh), if they keep leaving them open they'll eventually knock them down. Today just came down to who had the better offense, and without LBJ it was of course SA.

Thankfully, you got the goods with the thread again. :tu
Tools to win the game:
- Go inside, especially with Duncan
- Limit turnovers
- Expect 35+ points from LeBron, focus on their outside shooters
- Hit our threes
- Win and go to Miami 2-0...

Props to you, spurpadre. But if the Spurs play G2 as they did tonight, they will definitely lose. The Lebron-era Heat have never trailed 0-2 in a playoff series. To change that, Kawhi has to grow a pair and attack the rim, therefore providing some relief for the big 3.

Game 2 is a trap. Jazz vs Bulls in 1998, Thunder vs Heat in 2012, both teams caught a bit of a lucky break and won game 1, then lost game 2 and rest of the series. Heck this season we lost game 2 to the Mavs and went down 1-2. Against the Heat, we are done if we are put into that hole.

In game 3 we will also win going away, by 15+. that will be the dagger game.
Miami's best chance to get a win this series will be in Game 4 at home when we only have one day between. If they manage to prolonge it, we will route them with authority in game 5.

The Spurs don't scare me tbh. Take away the flukey shots towards the end, the 52% shooting from 3, 22-11 free throw advantage when we were clearly the aggressor, Lebron not finishing the game and albeit, the AC, we were in this game, beating them too. The game was exciting and if the spurs plan to be us, they better shoot 52+ from 3 again, double our free throws again, a pray Lebron doesn't finish another game.
:lol From a post from the Miami Heat forum
We played one of our worst games of the postseason, and still kicked your ass by 15
:cry but Lebron had cramps, and the refs were on the Spurs side :cry
Lets take these guys back to Miami up 2-0 :flag:
Spurs21Fan4Ever
06-06-2014, 12:53 AM
Ya Spurs had more free throws cause Miami was a jumpshooting team and Spurs were going inside. Wanna talk about fluke shots? Third quarter when LeBron and Chalmers made step back fadeaway threes and Bosh making threes including a 4 point play. That was flukey right there. Spurs are a great shooting team and had wide open shots.

some bad news for the Spurs: historical, Miami Heat when losing game 1 of the finals(2006,2012,2013) win the series in the end... so obvisley game 2 is much more than a must win game for the Spurs, but i can't see how the Spurs come out with a win as Miami are playing so tough and strong when it's much important to them too, they didn't lose two playoff games in a row for very long time, so it's hard to believe Spurs can win this game... also need to hope for a not pro Miami refereeing, nba probably doesn't want spurs winning the title...

Isiah still thinks Wade is the key to the series, I still agree, Boris on the Spurs and Wade on the Heat are the players to watch... Wade had a terrible second half yesterday after 2006 Wade torched everyone in the first half, would have to go look back at what happened but it's very important to keep him in check...

So, Thomas is actually questioning if Wade is healthy? I understand the Lebron excuse but they're reaching now with Wade. He's in much better shape than TP, did "Zeke" acknowledge that?

People keep talking about the Heat up 4 when LeBron went out. But every player needs a breather at some point, regardless of the reason. When LeBron went out for good, the Spurs were up 2, if memory serves. But let's just go with Heat up 4. For purposes of using game-1 to preview game-2, let's take everything that happened after LeBron left out of the equation. The closing minutes of the 4th never happened. So here's my takeaway from game-1:
The Spurs turned the ball over 23 times and got nothing from Leonard or Green (again, taking away closing minutes of 4th).
The good news for the Heat is that, in my view, they played much better than the Spurs and were up 4 points when LeBron went down.
The bad news for the Heat is that they played much better than the Spurs and were up 4 points when LeBron went down.
I was thinking at the time ... I can't believe it's this close. The Spurs will be sharper in game-2, and after watching game-1, I don't think the Heat can handle the Spurs at their best. A few pundits have gone as far as to predict the Spurs will win in 5. I can't go that far (though I think it's very possible), but I'll be at least a little surprised if the series goes 7 games.

Let's end the Heat's one game losing streak in the playoffs.
Think you need to rephrase this. The one game losing streak ends no matter what the outcome of game 2. It either goes to 2 game losing streak( preferable outcome) or they start on a win streak.

Well all the media hype today has been about LeBron's absence being the difference maker in the game last night, so Sunday's game will be an opportunity for the Spurs players to show how thy can beat Miami with LeBron in the line-up for the whole game.
Sunday's game: LeBron wanting to show he's not the wuss that some accused him of being after he left the game, and the Spurs wanting to show that they can win with the entire Heat line-up for the entire game.
It looked to me like ALL the players were exhausted at the end of the game last night, but I thought that the Spurs were executing better even though they were worn out and hot. I believe, fwiw, that we would have won the game had LeBron been able to play all the way through, but the score would have been closer.

Not sure if no one has thought of this side of the proverbial "coin" Sure LeBlowjob is going to be pissed about the outcome of G1. But what's to say he won't play more carefully and cautiously? Maybe posting up against Boris and Kawhi, his locomotive driving may just be cut by 40-50%, and being super cautious on fast breaks? ESPN has been reporting that LeBronda has had problems with Cramps since he was 18. It's not always about conditioning, it's not always about hydration. Mark Schwartz says that LeBronWNBA has suffered this ailment since high school it's just a freak accident. Some freak of nature occurrence, and that in the 2nd Q he felt his leg start to tighten up.
Spurs are likely to play with a chip on their shoulders as most everyone (including one Captain Jack) says that Miami would have won with the Spurs up 2 in the 4th with 3:58 to go. LeCRAMP wouldn't have been able to defend all the 3's that the Spurs shot/made and his presence wouldn't have made a 15-pt difference in the 4th especially with 3:58 to go. I think that the Spurs FINALLY just went back to playing SPURS basketball - PASSING, PRECISE ball movement, great shot selection and execution, and THEY STOPPED THE TURNOVERS.
I'm of the belief that San Antonio JUST snapped back into it in the 4Q and we're transforming into "G7 vs. Dallas" mode and are going to smear the Heat in G2.
Call me naive, call me a Spurs homer, this is just my take/opinion. I've had cramps in my calves, and it's no laughing matter. I was doing the Spartan Beast Race in the mountains of UT where it's 13-miles of hiking and 25 obstacles in 99-degree heat. I drank 6 liters of water and salts and carbs in 4.45 hrs and still cramped. I feel for LeBronda, but I'll take a W against the Heat in a finals series in any sportsman like way. It's also likely that the cramps will come back to LeCRAMPS. After all, wasn't Drama Queen Jamies "100% ready to go" in G1...?

I figure Leonard is on the bench with foul trouble again. People can go on and on about needing to play smarter but he was treated worse than a rookie with those calls against him. There's nothing he can do other than stay a foot away from him to avoid the whistle.

Im watching the Lebron conference, and someone ask him about Green getting hot in the 4th and he said that they dont want to leave him open at any time.
And then he detailed all 3 3PTs, what happen, who screened who, who passed Green the ball, etc.
He knew exactly what did Green did, he saw the plays on video more than once.
This confirms what we all assumed or knew, Miami knows Green can get hot and almost win the game by himself if you let him, or at least they think so.
That opens up the paint for TD...Greens value is huge.

Manu Ginobili is the first player with at least 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists off the bench in an NBA Finals game since Michael Cooper for the Lakers in 1982. He's the first player ever with at least 15 points, 5 rebounds and *10 assists* off the bench in an NBA Finals game, since starters were first recorded in 1970-71.

I have little use for James Capers, but I think that Danny Crawford is at least fair. If he starts calling us for fouls, it will probably mean we have just fouled. Only thing I ask is that they call Miami the same way.
As much as I really hope I am wrong, I think this game will go to Miami, because it will resemble Ibaka coming back in Game 3 against OKC. LeBron will have motivation out the wazoo to dominate the game, he will have a huge national Sunday night audience, he will want to show everyone in the world that he is the still the guy who can take over a game when he is not being subjected to 'extreme' conditions a la the A/C going out in game 1.
The Spurs players tend to get fairly passive in the face of that kind of emotional outpouring, just like they did in OKC. If they can stay focused, hungry, perhaps even angry themselves and SMART, they can take this game. But I think it is going to be clear pretty early in the game how it is going to go.
Leonard has to figure out a way to stay on the floor and contribute offensively.
Diaw has to be very very aggressive.
Tony needs to get into the offensive sets early, before Miami gets entirely set in their defense. Last game he wasn't quick enough bringing the ball up against them, and when they would accompany him toward our basket (which they are very very disciplined at doing) he would pull the ball back out for a set play, allowing Miami to get into position.

We need him to get going, tbh. Can't be a no show like in Game one.
On the SportsNation Heat site, there is a social media report that Danny Green told reporters that the Spurs had fans in their locker room at halftime. It goes further to say that the Heat, of course, had no such fans, and that when Silver was asked about it he said "I didn't know that". I hope that the refs have no orders to compensate for that in this game.
Wade was truly gassed by midway through the third quarter, imo. I think if we can wear him out again tonight in the first half or so, he will not be a factor late in the game, and the Spurs may be able to overcome another 4th quarter deficit. I still think we are gong uphill against a totally motivated LeBron tonight, but I hope we don't give up if they go up big on us, as Pop has been known to do.

http://www.nba.com/spurs/sites/spurs/files/imagecache/image_gallery_default/152060689_Jazz_Spurs_EvansCE051.jpg
Game 1 of the 2014 NBA Finals added a new chapter to the lore of the AT&T center. As if going into the Spurs arena where they had won their past 8 (now 9) games by at least 15 points wasn't challenging enough, visitors to San Antonio are probably now left to wonder: what's next?
This time, it wasn't rats, or bats, or water cannons, or escalator fires (OK, that was Mexico's bad). It wasn't cold showers. It wasn't a snake in the locker room.
In a truly ironic twist that begs the pun, the Spurs turned up the heat on the Heat. In a bizarre display that harkened back to the NBA of the 70s and will give conspiracy theorists plenty of food for thought, an electrical outage caused the AT&T Center's air conditioning to bite the dust, turning the entire arena into a sauna. San Antonio's depth helped them to weather the heat, while Lebron was unable to perform at his peak level under the sweltering conditions, and attempting to do so left his teammates dumping him in a heap on the bench.
The debates will rage over whether Game 1 was a brilliant CIA Pop ploy, or a deliciously ironic act of God. The Spurs, however, have no time to be concerned about that. They are up 1-0 again in the Finals against this Heat team, and this time their focus must be to take a 2-0 lead into Miami. Lebron is going to come out like a locomotive after listening to the criticism of the past few days, and the Spurs must be prepared to withstand that barrage and fire back.
Now is the time to establish control of the series and show the Heat that this year will be different.
FTH.

I can't find the national sportswriter that called Lebron a wuss for leaving the game with cramps. All I can find are common fans having fun at his expense. Every article I read is pro Lebron do I'm wondering if this is a fake criticism cooked up by the media and NBA to get people to watch the Finals.

I Disagree. I can see LeBronda playing well, but not out of his mind - "well". If he has any regard for his teammates and title hopes he won't take any of G1 comments/criticisms personal, and take his athleticism and speed down a few knotches and save his best efforts for the 4th Q. Problem is, Spurs wen back to "Dallas G7" Mode and got that killer instinct when it mattered most in the 4 Q and will carry that over to G2 and by the time the 4Q comes around, the Spurs will already have a double-digit lead. Too little too late from the hapless Heat. I believe we take G4 in Miami and win 4-1 IN San Antonio. We're too much for the lacking-bench depth Heat and when LeBronda's out for any stretch we'll go on our usual runs because we have a vastly superior bench to the Heat.
The Heat can't compete.
