I think they were. Name a team that you could argue on a nightly basis that their backup played better. Splitter or Diaw, Mills, Ginobili (though reallly a starter), and Belinelli.

I think if you went solely based on PER they're statistically the deepest team or at least they're up there. There are probably better stats to use though.

They definitely have to be up there. The "Bad Boy" Pistons come to mind as a deep team. Nobody averged 20 ppg like our Spurs.

Easily. The Spurs closed the last three playoff series with their only "All Star" being MIA for most of those games.
