Don't Let Me Down is my favorite Beatles tune.
But their best tune by far is Tomorrow Never Knows. In fact I think you could make a case for 3 songs from that era, Tomorrow Never Knows, I'm Only Sleeping, and Rain.
Those songs were absolutely groundbreaking, in terms of music and the way they were produced in the studio. Amazing. Simply amazing.

I do love Hey Jude. But "When I'm 64" is sort of our song and we had it played at our wedding just before the bride's march. :) (Actually, we didn't play the song, but we had a couple musicians (friends of ours) play all the music on acoustic guitars... very simple but pretty).

I never could stand the beatles, especially their most played songs like Penny Lane and I Wanna Hold Your Hand. I hate that crap. But they did have two songs I absolutely love and they seem to be among the least popular...
1. Fool On the Hill
2. Norwegian Wood

Too many to have a favorite and No Beatles song should be mixed with rap.

It was only the beat for the Beatles, no vocals. It actually sounds pretty sick
It does have some vocals but not alot. But Joe you're underestimating Dangermouse. That was actually brilliantly done. It was incredible.
I loved it.

Twist and shout.
I think they sang it.
They did but it was originally recorded by the Topnotes and the Isley Brothers. The Beatles version was a cover.

Lyrics to my favorite Beatles song. How can no one else love this?
Day after day, alone on a hill,
The man with the foolish grin is keeping perfectly still
But nobody wants to know him,
They can see he’s just a fool
And he never gives an answer.
But the fool on the hill sees the sun going down
And the eyes in his head see the world spinning round.
Well on the way, head in a cloud,
The man of a thousand voices talking perfectly loud.
But nobody ever hears him
Or the sound he appears to make
And he never seems to notice.
But the fool on the hill sees the sun going down
And the eyes in his head see the world spinning round.
And nobody seems to like him,
They can tell what he wants to do
And he never shows his feelings.
But the fool on the hill sees the sun going down
And the eyes in his head see the world spinning round.
He never listens to them,
He knows that they’re the fools
They don’t like him. The fool on the hill sees the sun going down
And the eyes in his head see the world spinning round.

"Norweigan Wood", "You've Got to Hide Your Love Away", "We Can Work It Out", and "Something" (one of my favorite love songs ever) are high on the list of faves, but it's a long list.

Penny Lane
Excellent choices!
Also, many other's here have referenced Across the Universe, which is superb.
I'd like to add Hide Your Love Away to the list.
BUT, back in my pot-smoking teen-age hay day, nothing was better than A Day in the Life ...
Except maybe the entire Rubber Soul LP.
And then there is Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da.

And then there is Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da.
Oooh..how the other three Beatles loathed that song. Especially since they had to record something like 100 takes for it. It even shows in the beginning, the piano part is John Lennon and he just bangs the notes because he's frustrated at doing it so many times. But they kept it in.

I love these lyrics:
I once had a girl, or should I say, she once had me.
She showed me her room, isn’t it good, norwegian wood?
She asked me to stay and she told me to sit anywhere,
So I looked around and I noticed there wasn’t a chair.
I sat on a rug, biding my time, drinking her wine.
We talked until two and then she said, it’s time for bed.
She told me she worked in the morning and started to laugh.
I told her I didn’t and crawled off to sleep in the bath.
And when I awoke I was alone, this bird had flown
Reminds me of one weekend in college. :)
