If there were fractions of a second, then I would have agreed with the play call. But a full second is plenty of time for a catch and shoot.

Maybe Pop was hoping there'd be a foul as kawhi caught the lob, so best case scenario it'd be an and-1 play for the win, but it could also be a quick layup/dunk for a tie, or Kawhi shooting 2 for a tie. That said, Kawhi shooting 2 free throws with the season in the balance doesn't exactly inspire confidence...
