if bud wasn't in atl i wonder how different the offseason/roster would have been.

Agreed. Tiago Splitter is a walking injury who needs to retire. Bud did the Spurs a huge solid. None of this news about his health is a surprise.

Damn, it sucks he's still so injury prone. Seems to be an even bigger issue in Atlanta than ever. Oh well, he managed to stay healthy for us for two championship runs and helped get us 1 out of 2. People need to lay off with the hate.

i wouldn't be surprised if is out of the league in 2 years..really that body is breaking down at fast rate.. the Spurs knew his expiry date right on cue and pulled the plug..Pop in postgame 7 presser vs Clippers subtly vented his frustration with the Tiago situation and would have shopped him in the summer even without LMA in sights..

Absolutely. When he was healthy and fully engaged (not airballing FT's, taking the ball up strong around the rim, blocking shots and grabbing rebounds) - he was fantastic. My frustration with Tiago wasn't limited to his unreliability health-wise, he was too often very, very soft when he was on the floor. Thank goodness he had a positive streak in him when the Spurs won their last Championship against Miami. That was the end.

Calf injuries, chest injuries, just weird shit. Now his hip is injured? Those are strange 'big man' injuries because it certainly isn't from him diving on the floor or sacrificing his body like Manu. We could all understand Manu's breakdown physically.

Tiago was afraid of initiating contact. But he absorbed quite a bit. The dude took charges and banged in the post. That's not enough to warrant his injury history, but he was always very good defensively. He flashed his potential in the 2014 first two rounds as you said, but he was big in the previous WCF as well.
