Hurricane Relief Game--My Pics

Carie, John, and I drove from here to Houston and got to the Toyota Center about 4. At first we were afraid there weren't going to be many people there, but the arena filled up nicely by the time the game started at 5. I took a bazillion pictures and am just posting nearly all of them for your persual (I deleted the few that came out blurry).

Jerry Stackhouse sang the national anthem... and he was really good! Who knew? I didn't want to take a picture because I felt that would've been disrespectful. It occurred to me later, I should've done a little video so you could hear it, but I'm not sure how I would've uploaded a video anyway (I don't have that kind of technology!).

This is a Houston rapper called Slim and Tall or Slim Talk... Slim and Tall makes sense because, well, look at the picture. I intended to google him so I could get my facts straight, but I don't really care that much. Maybe someone who's conversant in teh Houston rap scene can clarify.

I saved the best for last. The players and bear-thing and 12-year-olds were all throwing goodies into the crowd and this is what John caught for me (isn't that nice?). We got to the car and untaped it and I sort of stared at it for a while. Is this like when you're in high school and they do a food drive and you dig through your cupboard and you think "I'm never going to eat this canned spinach. The homeless can have it!"? Did the NBA think, "Shit, this T-shirt's 9 years old... we're never going to sell it!"? Not that I'm ungrateful! Hey, free is free, but I laughed until I couldn't breathe.
