Carie, John, and I drove from here to Houston and got to the Toyota Center about 4. At first we were afraid there weren't going to be many people there, but the arena filled up nicely by the time the game started at 5. I took a bazillion pictures and am just posting nearly all of them for your persual (I deleted the few that came out blurry).
Jerry Stackhouse sang the national anthem... and he was really good! Who knew? I didn't want to take a picture because I felt that would've been disrespectful. It occurred to me later, I should've done a little video so you could hear it, but I'm not sure how I would've uploaded a video anyway (I don't have that kind of technology!).
Anyway, hope you enjoy them!
Ron Artest was the first and only one warming up for several minutes...

I didn't get a picture, but when the little time-out acrobatic team came out and did a bunch of tumbling Gilbert Arenas did a cartwheel and ended up on his ass. That was pretty amusing.

D-Wade and KG were helping the kids who were competing in the contest where they have to put on NBA jerseys and shoes one piece at a time, then make a basket... they were totally cheating!
D-Wade's kid fell flat on his face, so D-Wade "tried to save the ball" and also fell flat on his face. Pretty cute.

This is a Houston rapper called Slim and Tall or Slim Talk... Slim and Tall makes sense because, well, look at the picture. I intended to google him so I could get my facts straight, but I don't really care that much. Maybe someone who's conversant in teh Houston rap scene can clarify.
I saved the best for last. The players and bear-thing and 12-year-olds were all throwing goodies into the crowd and this is what John caught for me (isn't that nice?). We got to the car and untaped it and I sort of stared at it for a while. Is this like when you're in high school and they do a food drive and you dig through your cupboard and you think "I'm never going to eat this canned spinach. The homeless can have it!"? Did the NBA think, " , this T-shirt's 9 years old... we're never going to sell it!"? Not that I'm ungrateful! Hey, free is free, but I laughed until I couldn't breathe.

Is it just me or does Kobe look more buff that usual? He looks like he's spent the last 3 months working out non-stop or something...He's gonna be a beast this season.
