Yup, that's why marginally consistent Euro shooters mostly crap out in the States, like Papanikolaou. Speaking of which, Greece looking stronger by the day, beat Bosnia by 40, Giannis showing great stuff and range (the inverse phenomenon going from NBA to FIBA) .

Serbia beat again Israel 79-71 (http://live.baskethotel.com/ibba/), this time harder than yesterday, but Miroslav Raduljica absolutely dominated the paint once again.
After the first win in Tel Aviv (85-70), Serbia prevailed again over Israel with Raduljica doing the main damage. Panathinaikos’ center scored 16 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Next to Raduljica there were two more big guys who helped a lot. Zoran Erceg added 11 points and Ognen Kuzmic 9 with 7 rebounds. Milos Teodosic scored 6 points and dished 6 assists.
Israel cut Serbia’s lead (76-62, 36′) in the last minutes, while the visitors were leading the score since the start of the game. Lior Eliyahu (14p) was the only player with double digits among the Israelis

So what if Porker looks great vs euroscrubs???
Means nothing to me. He needs to look good vs American athletes
I was thinking the same thing. Actually, Porker looked quite good at the beginning of last season. Then injuries happened.
I bet he will look awesome again at the start of the season and look like shit for the rest of it.

Strong team. Pretty much the Top 12 Greek players at the moment. Little thin in big man depth but seeing more Giannis at the 4 is good in my book. Definitely in the race for a Top 3 finish, if the threes start falling could go all the way.

http://live.fibaeurope.com/www/Game.aspx?acc=3&gameID=67465&lng=de
Much better effort in this game. Dirk is starting to look like himself again.
TP didn't see any minutes outside of the first quarter, probably just some extended rest before the tournament.
Boris struggled shooting the ball for the most part and wasn't quite as sharp passing the ball but came up big defensively down the stretch guarding Dirk.
I'm glad that Nando is playing confidently, no signs of hesitation and always on the move looking to make something happen. It's too bad that he couldn't do this for the Spurs.

He wanted playing time and there was none to give away. The Spurs error was to draft Cojo, therefore clogging up the entire PG rotation.

He was huge last year during the World Cup without Parker (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w3rbNPt98Ew :lol), but seemed a little out of form before getting cut out of the team during the summer, I hope he can do better now.

I like Heurtel, but I'd rather take Diot when TP is in the team tbh. Diot brings energy and defense in the backcourt, that's not the case with Tony/Nando/Fournier or Heurtel. I think he can do well though, despite a pretty bad training camp with France. Hopefully he'll want some "revenge" and play this way.

sinok
09-04-2015, 07:33 AM
Heurteul did not refuse, it's rather it's team that denied him to join the French team, telling that he was "globally exhausted" or some shit, and as there was no more time left to register the players, the french federation couldn't manage to make Heurtel come for a physical.
Thus, enters Westermann.

One final Euro trip for Tony ParkerMONTPELLIER, France -- Tony Parker has little left to prove, in the NBA or international basketball, but it is the pursuit of history, the San Antonio Spurs guard claims, that will drive him on for the remainder of his playing career.
Trading silver and black for bleu, the four-time NBA champion will start his quest for the second EuroBasket title of his career in the Mediterranean city of Montpellier on Saturday when defending champion France faces Finland in a group-stage opener.

French defense was a mess during the fourth quarter, and Parker was clearly tired (and a mess) at the end of the game (Westermann played something like two minutes, just nothing).
De Colo (a semi surprise, he was good in all preparation games) and Batum were good though.
They just did pretty much nothing in terms of training for the 5 days before the start of the Eurobasket because they were scared of injuries after what happened to Ajinça and Diot.
Probably will get better through the next games, as conditioning gets better and Westermann better integrated.
Solid minutes for Milutinov in the first half against Germany, he set some hard screens leading to easy baskets but wasn't involved much otherwise.

We're not flawless though,we miss a good PG and that could be a problem, and Bargnani has been good not only on offense but also on defense in the last three games, but how long is it going to last? We haven't got another high quality big
Beli as well when he's on fire he's unable to miss, but when he's cold he's so damn cold and still doesn't stop shooting
Said that,Gallo is the best SF in Europe,Gentile has been showing why he's considered the best player in the Italian League and he's got guts, the bench has showed up and helped no matter if with scoring, defense or hustle and in general we're a pretty talented (and clutch) team offensively, but I still think we're behind the likes of France,Serbia,Greece and Spain

Well in terms of address he is doing ok, from 2 pts range he is at 19/35 but he is taking a bit more 3 pts than usual with not a great success.
Health wise he is in a much better shape than last year imo, he goes to the rim with ease, draw fools... at times he looks like his old self but he struggles finishing games, seems gased at times... preparation of FNT was meant to be progressive so that guys peak during second round. So we will see from there. No injuries seem to bother him. Ball distribution task is split between him, Boris and Nando. Defense is subpar even though getting better.
I'd say it is too soon to judge, next phase will give us more insight

Tony is a role player, swapping Tiago w/ LMA & an ever improving Kawhi will more than make up for it. Manu on the other hand is the type of player that's not easily replaceable (Should have extended De Colo*SMH*) b/c he so dynamic (turnovers included). Hopefully, Kyle/Simmons can eat up minutes in the regular season so Manu can rest up. At the end of the day, the team is going to go as far as Kawhi can take them as you saw in the past 2 postseasons.

Not always but, yes, he had that moments in club career. Still, it is more time for him. And that's about leadership is bullshit. He make every team 50% better. He has authority, he literally LEAD the team. Every coach nows that and that's the fact. He has more leadership than Bjelica. Bjelica is quiet and withdrawn guy. He is great, smart player, but not for leader.

He prefers to stay here becouse he didn't won Euroleague yet. That's his main goal. Of course, his D is bad, but NBA teams still want him. So, if they don't have problem with his D, why he would? Anyway, he wouldn't be first guard in the league with bad D.

Even if Italia beats Lithuania which is doubtful they face Serbia in the semis. It could get ugly for them.unfortunately. I don't see them making the finals. It will be Serbia vs Spain/France
Spain France will be the real championship game

I also think Greece has a good chance to beat Spain ... really look forward to the game. Oh well, I have to leave the office in 40 minutes to catch it.

As I said already, in final will face Greece and Serbia
Printezis vs Mitotic should be a fun matchup. I wonder if Giannis (not to be mistaken with Ioannis) can exploit Spain's lack of size on the wing by getting some post ups.

Damn Greece showed up in the stands, where is this game played?
It's a converted soccer stadium in Lille, France.

Unfortunate for Greece, but imo France would have had a harder time with Greece than Spain.

:lol Parker took over when the team needed tbh... that's a good sign
Latvia is shooting 61% right now... I hope they will cool off, they are a 43% team this tournament... also bigs need to do a better job, they are scoring too much inside

if law of average prevail, Latvia shooting should go down a bit and FNT be better... all in all having 2 pts lead when opponent shoot that well is quite reassuring
