Gonna be another good one tonight...
Michelle Rodriguez's Lost character Ana-Lucia Cortez may be the most despised person on television right now, considering what happened in last week's episode, but USA Today says that you're about to see a different side of Cortez.
Tonight's extended installment (ABC, 9/8c, 65 minutes - set your TIVO/DVR accordingly!) is devoted to the post-crash back story of Ana-Lucia and the other "tailies." Next week, she takes center stage when flashbacks reveal her surprising pre-crash occupation.
"It's a very significant and interesting vocation that I don't think people will have seen coming, considering the kind of person she is," executive producer Damon Lindelof teases. "Her flashback takes place two or three years prior to the crash and reveals her first day back on the job after being away for a while."
And throughout the season, Ana-Lucia will be dealing with Shannon's death. "It's our job as writers," Lindelof says, "and Michelle's job as an actor to gain back the audience's sympathy."
Both Lindelof and executive producer Carlton Cuse also talked to TV Guide columnist Ausiello, an interview in which they reveal more spoilers about the show. If you're ready to find out additional story details, you can click here to read it.

I FUCKING HATE this new chick (Michelle Rodriguez) on Lost!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She has got to be the worst man-actress in the history of TV. I almost want to stop watching the show, just because I can't stand her....
They could have picked a much better actress to play that role.

Plus, she's too manly to be considered "hot" or pretty"

This was a good episode. There's plenty of new stuff to look over (new hatch symbol, Nathan and Goodwin, the list of nine, glass eye/Bible/old US Army knife) and I thought it was cool to see why the tailend survivors were the way they are.
Hate on Ana Lucia all you want, but she's definitely a better character than Shannon.

Mr. Eko is cool as all get out.
Should be cool when Bernard and Rose reunite.
The bear the kid had was the same bear that was being dragged when jin and eko were hiding.
The people in the back may have been boring, but the episode covered/answered a lot of questions.

I love this season also... just not as much as the first. I am glad that they started with the front of the airplane on season 1 because they do seem to be a lot 'cooler' than the back part of the plane. I really like all of them from the original cast... this other cast I can't seem to get into. The best part for me tonight was the last 5 minutes when they find Jin, Sawyer and Michael. I'm glad they're going back to the original cast for the next episode.
I can't wait for Bernard and Rose to reunite. Aww.

I'm with you. I like this season, but it doesn't really have me on the edge of my seat like the first season.
Ana Lucia bothers the crap out of me, it'll be interesting to see if her previous occupation makes me like her more. They're going to have to work hard for that to happen.
I can't wait for Bernard and Rose to reunite. Aww.
Me either!
I'm also wondering what the story is for the guy that was in the woods for 2 hours. He wasn't one of the other's, but there still seemed to be something 'off' there.
I love Ecko (or however you spell it). I can't wait until they do his back story. Right after the crash, wasn't he carrying a woman to the shore? Do you think he was with her, or he was just bringing her in?

I've tried watching it.....but I'm lost.
Highlight for a theory I found
I'll make this as brief as I can:
Meet Hans Oersted:
http://www.07968826871.com/LOSTJPEGS/hansoersted.jpg
Hans O. discovered electromagnetism in 1820.
In 1999 the 'Oersted' satellite was launched with the purpose of charting Earth's magnetic field. The findings led scientists to believe that there might be a polar reversal imminent, the effects of which could be cataclysmic: if Earth were to lose its magnetosphere, it would be vulnerable to massive radiation from the space/sun. The satellite also revealed an anomaly in the magnetic field under South Africa; it is pointing the opposite direction from the rest of the Earth's field and has been growing for hundreds of years. Please Google this info. A similar idea was also used in the film 'The Core'.
Meet Hannes Alfvén:
http://www.07968826871.com/LOSTJPEGS/alfven_hannes.jpg
His contribution to science - mainly in the field of electromagnetism - revolutionized how scientists view the universe, winning a Nobel Prize on the way. He spoke English, German, French, Russian, and some Spanish and Chinese; and studied oriental philosophy and religion. He spent time in the Fiji Islands. He was fascinated by the "green flash" - a phenomenon that sometimes occurs at sunset. By no coincidence (Green Lantern and Flash comic):
http://www.07968826871.com/LOSTJPEGS/green_lantern.jpg
He also wrote fiction: The Great Computer: A Vision (1968) telling the story of computers taking over the world. Google "Hannes Alfvén".
Alfvén plus Hans O. equals Alvar Hanso.
http://www.07968826871.com/LOSTJPEGS/alvarhanso.jpg
The above outlines the reason for - and a means to control - the island...
Scientists, fearing the cataclysmic events of a polar reversal, prepared an environment for the survival of the human race. They either directly or indirectly engineered the kind of people who would make up a community fit for survival and propagation of a new world. In the main, this means characters without father/mother figures; and/or characters with skills for survival: a doctor, an engineer, a survivalist, a mercenary; and characters of sufficiently varied genetic background: african, caucasian, asian, etc. to ensure a healthy gene pool for generations.
Then on an island which already had a massive natural source of electromagnetism, they constructed an artificial magnetosphere, alluded to in Walt's/Hurley's comic:
http://www.07968826871.com/LOSTJPEGS/magnetosphere.jpg
to repel the deadly cosmic rays that Earth's magnetosphere used to repel. The hope was that the community could thrive, grow and, eventually, repopulate/recover the world.
The Dharma Initiative under Alvar Hanso (if both of these thing exist in the Lost reality - much of the Orientation film is red herrings for the 'survivors') used a technology based on remote viewing and electromagnetism to power this magnetosphere and to influence the lives of the future island candidates. As stated in another of my posts: every strange (and a lot of mundane) occurrences in Lost can be attributed to electromagnetism as wielded by the collective consciousness on the island (see "Enlightenment Theory"). When all the candidates were in place, i.e. on the plane, the collective consciousness knocked everyone out, brought it down, cryogenically preserved them, dismantled the plane (placing enough debris in the ocean to ensure an "everybody dead" verdict); years later, some plane debris was placed on the beach with the passengers and the scene was set to give the illusion that they had JUST crashed. Then the collective consciousness woke them up.
http://www.07968826871.com/LOSTJPEGS/magnet.jpg
The joke/password about the snowmen is an allusion to being cryogenically frozen.
The collective consciousness is that group of scientists that became so totally absorbed into remote viewing and electromagnetism that they now operate on frequencies of electromagnetism (covering everything from light to sound) only. They can read minds as well as manipulate iron and other conductive material. Claire wondered why there was not one comb or hairbrush on the entire plane; the reason: the slight electrostatic charges that hairbrushing creates is interference for the collective consciousness.
http://www.07968826871.com/LOSTJPEGS/collectivealien.jpg
Much of the Orientation film and what Desmond says is false and purely to ensure that our heroes press those bloody buttons every 108 minutes. The purpose is threefold: to provide a focus for the community - a reason to go on and something 'meaningful' that goes beyond rational decision-making; secondly, to protect the hatch/power-supply/scientists behind the concrete; and, thirdly, to download the information from the Oersted satellite as it orbits the Earth every 108 minutes (please Google this) to get the latest on the magnetic poles.
The collective consciousness messed with this bird's navigation (based on magnetism - birds have magnetite in their beaks).
http://www.07968826871.com/LOSTJPEGS/deadbird.jpg
Sayid tells Jack that either the compass is wrong or North has moved. In fact, North has moved.
http://www.07968826871.com/LOSTJPEGS/northgone.jpg
Walt seems to become a knife-throwing expert. He isn't. The metal knife was guided by the collective consciousness in an attempt to bring him closer to Locke, who is the island's most faithful servant.
http://www.07968826871.com/LOSTJPEGS/waltknife.jpg
The presence of this ship is an indication that this island has always been known as a source of great magnetic power (the word "magnet" comes from "Magnesia" the land where the first black rock with powers of attraction was found). The location of this ship is an indication of the island's volcanic past - pushing the island higher - the ship is now inland. (Lava cools to form basalt; at the point basalt solidifies it takes on the same magnetic field as the surrounding location, thus providing information of the magnetic field's past.)
http://www.07968826871.com/LOSTJPEGS/blackrock.jpg
BF Skinner's dubious theories form the basis for the methods used by collective consciousness to socially engineer this 'utopia'. They are the voices in the trees, they are the visions, they are the black fog (metal in a magnetic field), the monster (mechanical, but designed to embody each survivor's personal fear). They use every psychological trick in his books to manipulate the survivors into forming a stable long-lasting community ON the island; and their means to this end are extensive.
http://www.07968826871.com/LOSTJPEGS/octagonalceiling.jpg
http://www.07968826871.com/LOSTJPEGS/octagonal-ceiling2.jpg
The two images above are an explicit example of how the influence of the Dharma's collective consciousness has pervaded in the survivors' lives: notice the octagonal ceiling in both shots; and the metal balls in the second scene.
http://www.07968826871.com/LOSTJPEGS/eye.jpg
The opening shot of most episodes - the eye - establishes that this epsiode's main character will percieve what the collective consciousness wishes to show them. In this episode, Boone has an epiphanous vision courtesy of the collective consciousness and is later murdered with a falling plane!
Locke can walk now. Locke has no feeling in his legs. Locke's ability to walk is based on the collective consciousness' will. It makes him obedient. This level of obediency may be required of all the survivors eventually. His legs move because the collective consciousness allows those tiny electronic impulses from his brain via the spine to get through to muscles in his legs.
To summarize: our heroes never actually crashed; they are the future of mankind - the survivors of a cataclysmic polar event of which they are unaware; they are on the island to survive, procreate and repopulate the Earth. They are unaware of this plan which is sustained by a sophisticated collective consciousness and a group of scientists using electromagnetic power, and psychological techniques of reward and punishment.
The original theory states that there are two sets of Others: those that are renegade and those that are adhering to the 'Dharma' project.
Ethan was one of the renegades. While he valued life, he was prepared to take it for what he may have considered was the greater good, that is, the children. The Australian psychic told Claire that she ALONE (heavy stress) should bring up the child; perhaps he foresaw what is actually happening now: the child raised by the CC - Ethan having failed. The renegade Others move silently, leave no tracks and don't use metal.
The adhering Others - the Others still on message - were on the boat. They interfere only when necessary and in order to keep the survivors on the island - that was the purpose of taking Walt. Michael, Sawyer and Jin returned and certainly Michael won't be going anywhere until he gets Walt back.
Ethan was like Morpheus, the boat people are like Agent Smith.
The most hopeful promise of procreation on the island is between Sayid and Shannon. One thing seemed to be in the way: Boone. Maybe the CC felt he wasn't sufficiently 'relieved' of his love for Shannon by his vision and considered him a threat - and so removed him. Alternatively, Shannon may be pregnant already with Boone's baby and, again, Boone - as part of a love triangle - would disrupt the child's upbringing.
As the song goes: "the children are the future" - and this is a battle all about the future!
There is more, but that's the gist.

I thought this past Wed's episode was damn good. Season 1 was awesome and the show is only getting better with Season 2. I recognized a pattern, whether it has any clues behind it, I dunno. Keep in mind this only holds true for not all, but most of the characters who we've seen their flashbacks: They've been wronged by their father.
Think about it- Jack's dad was a drunk and put him in a tough situation, Shannon's dad fucked her over by taking her out of his will, Walt didn't know his real dad till his mom died, Locke's dad won't even talk to him even though he saved his life, Sun's dad was apart of the mafia who drug Jin into it and screwed him up, Sawyer had to kill his "dad" which fucked him up for life...
Pretty weird...
Damn GIG, way to bring a 80 year old thread back to life. :lol

One thing I find really weird is how in their normal lifes (the flashbacks), the characters pass by one another a lot.
I cant recall who it was, but some character was watching TV and Hurley was on it. I find shit like that wierd. Thoughts?
My guess is that somehow they're all connected. Did you notice Jack was the doctor who 'allowed' Shannon's dad to die?
Yeah, I notice. I wonder if they ever will. Shannon's dad hit Jack's wife.
And what happened to Jack's marriage? i am really curious
They haven't touched on Jack's marriage - but they are all related in some way.
Sawyer encountered Jack's dad in a bar, also.
In all the back stories, you'll see another character. In Hurley's, Locke was wheeled by. And in Shannon's, when they were in the hospital, Jack walked by them, as examples.

Good episode tonight, especially the ending. What I don't understand is why no one (Jack, Sawyer, Mr. Clean (:lol), etc.) is looking to find out where those "Others" have come from. They know they weren't on the plane, why didn't Jack talk to the guy more in today's episode to find out all that info?
BINGO!
Why dont they want to know where the fuck they came from!?!?
I thought the reason for Jack's marriage ending was pretty weak...

Yea but his wife was taking the sausage from the meat vendor.
huh?
Here's a recap from what happened last night so you can feel knowledgable at the water cooler this morning...highlight to read:
"The Hunting Party," tonight's episode of Lost was again filled with new twists, turns, and revelations. The character du jour of the show was Jack, and while we were shown more interactions between him and his father in the show's flashbacks, the main story line of the backstory revolved around his relationship with his wife. As you'll recall, in a previous episode we discovered that Jack's wife was the same woman who crashed her car into Shannon's father, killing him. Jack married her after miraculously curing a back injury that should have left her paralyzed for life.
We begin "The Hunting Party" in a flashback of a father and daughter talking to Jack and Jack's father for assistance in removing a tumor in the father's spine. The surgery is too risky and Jack's father tells them he's not willing to operate. We then discover that Jack has some fame as a miracle doctor after healing his wife, and that they weren't interested in Jack's father's help, but rather came to seek Jack's help. Jack, partially to feed his pride and partially to defy his father, agrees to the surgery.
More with spoilers after the break...We come out of the flashback and Jack finds Locke lying knocked out on the ground of the ammunition closet. Jack runs in to see what happened and Michael comes up with a gun, says he's going after Walt, and insists that Jack stay in the room. He locks both Jack and Locke in the room and we're hit with the Lost opening.
When we return, Locke wakes and discovers that he and Jack are locked in the closet with no access to the computer as the clock ticks down. We're offered a rather weak tease at this point, as Locke realizes that they are the only two on shift for the next four hours with no one left to enter the numbers in the computer and press the button. This tease doesn't last long, as we immediately jump to Kate and Sawyer heading down to the shelter to get Sawyer's bandage changed right after Jack states that they'll be coming for them. Flirty scene between Kate and her new boyfriend.
When they let Jack and Locke out of the closet Jack, Locke, and Sawyer prepare to run off in pursuit of Michael. We enter another flashback with Jack talking with the daughter of the dying man, building the sexual tension between these two, just before Jack looks guiltily at his 4:30am watch and heads home to his wife. Unlike the warm toned scene between Jack and the patient's daughter, the scene between Jack and his wife is cool filmed in dim lighting with a blue tinge seeming to represent the quiet and cold that has grown between them. Jack's wife says she was late and took a pregnancy test, he looks concerned (but not in the right way) and she says not to worry that it came out negative. He says, "Do you want to talk?" and she says, "What's there to talk about?" and leaves. We return from flashback to Kate trying to follow the boys on their hunting party. Jack shouts her down and tells her to stay.
There are several scenes mixed in here with the three guys traveling together where we get some interesting bits. First, we discover that Michael is going north as opposed to back to the east, the way that Sawyer and the people from the back end of the plane travelled from. Evidently, he received some directions from Walt and the computer. We also have a scene where Sawyer confronts Jack about how abrupt he was with Kate, and Jack quips "Of course. You love her." Then there is a later scene where Locke reveals that he knows that Sawyer's name isn't Sawyer, as he saw his real name was James Ford in the plane manifest after Hurley conducted the census, and asks Sawyer why he picked Sawyer. There's also a scene where Locke and Jack have one of their tug of war discussions, where Locke asks Jack what he intends to do when they catch up to Michael. He says he'll make him come back, and Locke says, "Who are we to tell anyone what they can or can't do?" This, of course, ties back into Locke's whole "Don't tell me what I cannot do" philosophy that he was screaming in the episode where we first discovered that he used to not be able to walk.
The episode has a few slight flavoring bits to remind us of the rest of the survivors. Jin and Sun have a fight about Jin wanting to chase after Michael, and Sun shouts him into saying, pointing out that Michael may be his friend, but that she is his wife. Later this story line is revisited when Jin mentions how he felt being ordered by her and Sun basically says that she didn't like it much all that time when he used to order her around.
There's another scene with Hurley and Charlie searching for some tunes to listen to in the bunker, and Hurley says he thinks he has a chance with the psychiatrist and Charlie wonders if Claire misses him. Sayid shows up and says that the music they are playing is depressing, and he is still clearly depressed over the recent loss of Shannon.
All of these little scenes are interspersed with more scenes where Jack is becoming more and more familiar with his patient's daughter, and at one point his father tells him that there is aline that he shouldn't cross. Jack says something like, "Guess you would know" and his father replies, "May be okay for some people, Jack, but not for you."
Jack, Sawyer, and Locke hear gunshots and pursue the sound. They lose the track for a while, but ultimately, the man from the raft who took Walt and shot Sawyer appears and draws a line in the sand, pointing out that all the survivors are guests on the island: "This is not your island; this is our island. And the only reason you are living on it, is because we let you live on it." Jack thinks he's bluffing and that there are more survivors than Others. HIs theory is blown away when torches light up surrounding them. Jack still refuses to back down until they pull out their trump card: the Others have captured Kate who ignored his warnings and followed them.
Jack acquiesces at the last minute, dropping his gun, and Locke and Sawyer drop their guns as Sawyer says "You and me aren't done, Zeke," just before 'Zeke' releases Kate and walks away as the torches go out. Jack clearly blames Kate and simply asks "Are you alright?"
We return to the flashback. Jack loses his patient. Then he sees Gabriella, the patient's daughter, and she kisses him and he kisses back before pushing away from her. He goes home and confesses what happened to his wife and talks about how he hates what has happened to them and wants to fix things, just before she reveals that she's leaving him, and has not only been planning to do so before he kissed this girl, but has been seeing someone else. She says, "You will always need something to fix. Goodbye," and leaves as Jack begins to cry and we return to camp, Kate following Jack and Sawyer following Kate. Locke visits Claire and her baby as Charlie looks on jealously. Jack finds Ana and they share a drink of water and chat a bit. Jack asks her about her being a cop and killing one of the Others and then asks, "How long do you think it would take to train an army?" Tense music, then previews of next week. Looks good.
These last two episodes have been great. When's the next seven week hiatus so I can start bitching about the show again?

Last night was only my third episode of Lost but I think I'm getting hooked. Charlie's visions were real freaky, especially since he wasn't doped up! I really thought it was going to be one of the "others" that stole the baby from the previews they showed last week. Does anyone else think that Jack and Ana are gonna hook up?

If you thought last night was good and you've only seen the show three times, you've gotta watch the first season. Come to think of it, you can buy individual episodes for like $1.99 off itunes.com, which might be cheaper than buying the box set.
Random thoughts:
~~ I thought last night sucked compared to the two episodes prior to it. Probably 'cause I just don't give a fuck about Charlie. But I will say this - I pitied that stupid little Hobbit when Locke beat the crap outta him.
~~ Something's been "off" with Locke since the Eko episode. Anyone else think that?
~~ Who's the next show about? Sawyer?
~~ I'm OK with all the love connection stuff going on, but Hurley and Libby do nothing for me. There's something about her I don't like - maybe it's playing Mrs. Robinson for the rich fat kid, or maybe it was seeing her DUI mugshot.
One thing I noticed about last night's episode is when Hurley and Libby were talking, Hurley asked where he knew her from - and she acted strange.
Then she said something about seeing him on the plane, because he was the last one on, and he stepped on her foot.
But, if he's in the front section of the plane, and she was in the tail - how would he have stepped on her foot? I doubt it's an error by the writers, because they're meticulous with this show - so it has to be leading to something.

Good catch. I do remember now how she acted weird when Hurley asked if he's seen her somewhere before. The thing about this is that everyone on the island is somehow connected with someone else on the island, before the plane crash. Sawyer kind of had a connection with Jack's dad and there are a few others, which I can't seem to remember right now.

Alright guys...My 2cents.
So, charlie was having visions that something bad was gonna happen to the baby (the antichrist or something like that according to the psychic). Maybe Locke is the person that the baby is supposed to stay away from. There is something crazy about Locke, and I totally think he is going to be a villain by the time the show ends.
Good catch Katy on the psychiatrist/mental patient angle. Perhaps, she happened to see him on the news winning the money, and was stalking him or something. Who knows.
Eko is my favorite character.
Sayid needs an ep, and soon.
I can't wait for the showdown with the "others".

Then the guns in the facility are wierd too. One AK and some old .22 mag rifle?

During the rain at Sawyer's tent he was getting Kate to read the magazine she said she likes to no celerey in her Chicken Salad. The same thing Sawyer's partner ordered from Kates Mom in an earlier episode.
EDIT: BTW does anyone know Japanese? Is there a 5 letter / symbol name for anything like fortress or super weapon something like that?

Ok. So I got Season one on Friday and Jess and I started it Saturday night and finished that bitch by Sunday night. We marathoned it not because we wanted to catch up, but because we were instantly hooked.
VIDEO CRACK. Thats what this show is. Crack in the form of a video.
Anyhow, since then I've gotten the first six episodes of season 2 and I've watched them.
This show is so freaking biblical. I read as far as I could in this thread without encountering any spoilers of the shows I haven't seen, and the only person that brought that up was King. But there is so much that leads me to belive that the ultimate resolution of this show will involve something very christian in nature. Or at some point in the writting that was the direction it was headed.
Anyhow, I know episode 14 airs tonight and I'm downloading 7-13 as we speak. I don't know if I'll be ready to go by 8 o'clock, but I sure as hell hope so. I'm so hooked on this show that I'm 2 weeks behind on 24 and I'm not worried about catching up untill I get caught up on Lost. That'll happen by tomorrow at the latest.

I watched the entire season on DVD before this season started, so I'm not sure if last year was scheduled this way or not. I am getting very annoyed with the scheduling, and while it is still a good show, it is nowhere as good as last year. I can see myself being not very interested in the third year at this rate. Not to mention the very misleading previews that show the clock hitting zero, only to find out that it doesn't run out. Also, before last week, all the previews would say "Next Wednesday" even if they were going to show a rerun.

I wish they had shown more on the search for the balloon.
If onl,y everyone else would come out about thier miraculous healing since landing on the island.. then Sun's hubby wouldn't feel so weird about knocking her up.
BTW - Sayid & girlfight chic are soooooo made for each other.

Yea he was checking her out when she was asleep.
It was cool how that guy said IF he was an "other" that's what he would do.
Guy is a freak lol...
Do you think Charlie raped Sun when he abducted her from the garden in the Gun Heist? Or Jin's sperm is "cured" now that he's on the island. BUT.. the way he kissed her it was like they where not doing it in the Bushes.
Her dad is either Mafia and or DHARMA.
And her lover boy??

Carie
03-23-2006, 03:21 AM
Well, he didn't know he couldn't procreate, so at first he was happy because he'd been wanting one for a while. Then Sun told him, and then told him that she had never been with anyone else, and he said it was a miracle and is thrilled.
Ginofan
03-23-2006, 09:41 AM
Anyone else think Sun was a lying whore when she swore that she had never slept with another man? You know her and her english teacher friend got it on the way they were "staring deeply" into each other's eyes. And he was all hinting that she should stay for him instead of leaving for America (at least that's what I got from it), wonder what happened with that.
Man Obi, I was just telling Matthew and Katy last night when we were watching that Ana and Sayid were gonna do it hahaha. How effed up would that be, sleeping with the chick who murdered your former lover...whew!
I'm even more convinced that the guy they are holding prisoner is one of the Others. He's too creepy to just be a normal dude who crashed there in a balloon. Even with the teasers showing a balloon or what looked like a balloon stuck in a tree, I still don't believe him. It was raining while Ana, Sayid, and Charlie were out in the jungle and something bad always happens when it rains...next week can't come fast enough!

Miracle Sperm...ehh maybe. I could see it that way but it could be that she really did sleep with that english teacher dude and then later she confesses to Jin and they don't know who's baby it is! But then again they've been on the island about 2 months right? I would think she would be showing pregnancy signs way before that if it was the teacher dude's baby...so you're probably right. Or maybe...I'm just all hard up for drama ahahaa

I thought last night's episode was pretty awesome, not the best, but awesome anyway.
Getting the confirmation that "Henry Gale" was lying about who he is, was great. But I'm wondering why he came back for Locke after climbing out through the vent...The blacklight map thingie was cool and intriguing (thanks for posting that cap Vashner). Does anyone think that "Henry" already knew stuff about The Hatch and somehow triggered the "Lockdown".
And what about the food supplies that were dropped? Were they already there or were they dropped after the alarm reached zero and the Hatch went all crazy? I mean they had to have just been dropped right, how could everyone have just missed that bright-ass blinking light right next to the Hatch for a whole freakin' two months?!
MannyIsGod
03-30-2006, 05:49 PM
What questions?Who is Henry Gale if he's not Henry Gale?
Why did he kill Henry Gale?
What is the map?
Where did the food drop come from?
And lets not forget the old questions
WHERE IS WALT? (They've completely forgotten about this)
Whats the deal with the kids?
Whats the deal with the others?
What ever happend to the army idea?
What about Charlie and his addiction?
I could go on forever...
They keep adding things and maknig it more and more complex without resolving anything. Next week (if the new episode is going to be next week) looks like its just adding more questions. The fat guy is going crazy now? What about HENRY? What about the FOOD? What about the map??
Oh, and does anyone remember the guy in the hatch that just ran off at the begining of the season? What the hell ever happend to him? Is he in Waltsville?
MannyIsGod
03-30-2006, 05:52 PM
Don't get me wrong, I like the show. But they need to start resolving things at some point.
Carie
03-30-2006, 05:57 PM
I liked last night's episode quite a bit. But I agree with Manny, there are too many questions left unresolved right now. Give us SOMETHING to work with. It's as if people forget from episode to episode that two of them are missing, and that they're trying to build an army, and that Charlie has drug problems. It's great that they bring new things each episode for us to think about and drive us crazy, but they have to stop just dropping the old story lines until they're ready to bring them to the forefront again.

J.J. Abrams did the exact same thing with Alias. The reason they aren't resolving plot lines is because they're making a lot of it up as they go along. They may have some general idea where they're going, but it's not like Star Wars where George Lucas wrote the whole story 30 years in advance of the final movie.
What will happen is by the end of the third season the plot will be such a mess we'll need to read the website week to week to understand what happened, and ratings will plummet. Then in the fourth season, they will "reinvent" the look of the show somehow to pump up ratings, and try to wrap up some loose ends in a contrived, rather lame, difficult to understand way, before it gets cancelled. Maybe it will limp on for a fifth season.
Right now things are still not such a bastardized spaghetti bowl, so we can keep alive the illusion that there is some coherent direction for the story, and that illusion keeps us on the edge of our seat. Even though I know in the back of my head that there's no there there, I'm still captivated. It's a weird, addictive, psychological thing.
But eventually, there will be so many twists and turns that the show ties itself in a knot and chokes itself, and then it will be over.
Carie
03-30-2006, 08:07 PM
I hope you're wrong Stout, but I don't hold out too much hope. I was a huge Alias fan back in the day. Now...not so much.

I do think Sayid will be sleeping with Ana soon they have something going on.
But yea it looks like Sayid might be in "pro mode" now that they found out fake Henry is playing them.
Supposedly next week's episode is Bernard and Rose's back story. One 'theory' I've heard is, it was mentioned last season that Walt's mom (Michael's ex) was from a biracial couple.
So maybe they're Walt's grandparents?

Jack and Kate, jeez louise DO IT ALREADY! :lol I was glad one of them finally admitted there was some feelings there even though Jack said it in a round about way.
Did "Henry" really push the button or not? I can't tell anymore. If he didn't what else would cause the "lockdown" to retreat?
And wtf is wrong with Michael??? Did they drug his ass or something?? At least we are getting some focus on some of the original questions....as in Walt and Michael.
In the teasers for the upcomming episodes it looks like "Henry" might get to escape. (He was shown tangling with Ana Lucia). I think if he gets out and gets to go back with The Others, all hell is going to break loose.

I literally switch channels when they're showing Lockes story. Sometimes in those flashback stories, they move waaaaay too slowly. They need to somehow quicken the pace of the show? Does anyone else feel that way? Like sometimes I'm watching it and I feel this urge to hit the Forward button...:lol

Well what they decided to to was film them fresh.
Normally you film a season then play it. They are filming and playing it like 2 weeks after each episode.
So they put in some odd breaks. They had broken down the logic somewhere. I think the bottom line is the producers just wanted to be different. Plus they are winging some of it.

i think Michael shot himself in the arm because he is brainwashed and blames it on "Henry" and the others brainwashed him to lure the camp to them and to kill them all for Walt back.(this is weird but oh well lol)
OR
Michael shot them and himself and blames it on Henry,so that the camp believes the others are even more deadly(cuz maybe they had some doubts?)and go after the others with full force!
plus it ties into Michelle Rodriguezes jail time and "Libby" being in trouble with the law down in Hawaii.

Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!! Ana Lucia is GONE!!! Now I can watch the full length of the show without having to flip the channel every time she's on! :elephant
Michael going crazy was just an added bonus. BTW, poor Hurley..he's gonna be crushed :(

BTW, What the hell happened to that weird smokey looking "monster"? They haven't shown anything about that in months!
This is my biggest gripe with J.J Abrams shows. He did this to me with Alias also. It's like in the first season or two, there's about a million different storylines/mysteries going on. And before you get the answer to one of them, he starts a new storyline and then another and then another....there's never any definitive ending to something. It seems to all snowball and then you forget all the earlier "mysteries" that needed to be answered. He's doing this again with Lost :pctoss

I don't understand why you would have to change the channel when she came on every time. She isn't that ugly.

It's not because she's ugly...I just can't stand her or her character or her bad acting. It's really weird, but you know how you cringe when you hear nails scratching on a blackboard? That's how I feel everytime they show her. :lol

JJ Abrams hasn't had anything to do with LOST since before the end of last season.

Yea, but I thought it was still the rest of the producers from Alias were still the same as on Lost?

:lol Well, my point still remains. The show seems to leave a lot of cliffhangers and unanswered questions which never seemed to be answered. Which I guess is the appeal of the show...

Damon Lindelof is the main showrunner now, and before Lost he was a producer on Crossing Jordan (of all the crappy shows to come from).
