View Full Version : Aldridge's weight gain..

I believe Aldridge will be fine and I expected the adjustment to take a few months, I don't see this Spurs gelling until February/March(as I said during the preseason), but it's very disappointing that he spent the off-season on the Oliver Miller diet, tbh..he looks noticeably slower and less athletic than he did in Portland..

I noticed the weight gain in preseason and I mentioned it here, but I let it go, figured I was overreacting..however, the other night on NBA TV, Antonio Davis and the other "analyst" made the same observation about Aldridge looking a little chubby(they were joking around about it)..smh..

Aldridge can't shoot jumpers. He needs to take on the old TD role or he's done. Playing like a 7M/year player so far this year, at best.

Maybe the Spurs asked him to? Knowing he was going to play Center and due to the lack of personnel to bang down low?

I was saying to a workmate during the preseason that I thought he looks overweight. I also said that his vertical seems to have decreased, and that is either because he's overweight or you must automatically lose 10 inches on your vertical leap when you join the Spurs. Soon as you sign with the Spurs, it's like your vertical automatically decreases.

I wonder if he put that weight on on purpose because he was expecting to play more center?

I hope they didn't ask him to gain weight, it would be pretty silly, considering none of their challengers have a post player that requires that much attention:lol..I highly doubt it, tbh..

He looks slow, though..couldn't even get separation or a step against Nene tonight, and Nene is one of the slowest players in the entire league..

Didn't see much of Aldridge when he was in Portland outside of when he played the Spurs but he looks heavier but nothing worrisome. He is still pretty damn athletic and rebounds the ball really well. Hopefully his shot comes around, he would never miss against us when we played him :lol Hopefully playing more home games gets him more comfortable.

He doesn't have his usual pop on his jumper most likely b/c of his knee issue. I'm pretty sure he wasn't working out over the off-season & fucked up his knee in camp playing while being out of shape.

What knee issue? I never heard nothing about it.

Everyone on the Spurs is fat except for Manu and Timmy tbh. We have porked out a little this year overall but we'll be fine. Being old and fat is a red herring excuse.

Please lose weight. I've seen Portland play for so many years and it's evident Aldridge is a fatass right now

Hes still a great PnP player and he obviously put in the effort defensivley..but those dribble drives and posts ups are hideous.

Hes not the same athlete as last year.

As I said previously, Aldridge is among the 5 fattest players in the league right now, relatively speaking. This is a huge (no pun intended) reason that he has been struggling and we haven't seen the kind of production we saw in Portland yet. There are other factors but the fact that he is a huge lardass is definitely the main one holding him and the Spurs back currently. I think he really overindulged in San Antonio's fat culture and sort of lost his edge when he joined the team, knowing he was going to play alongside all these future hall of famers. To be expected, but really disappointing that he didn't pleasantly surprise us.

Looking like 2015 Parker - take that big paycheck, get fat over the summer, and let others carry you all season long.

Fat and stiff as a board.

I really hope he's laying off the whataburgers, tbh. But it seems like Pop is still taking the hands off, bring him along at his own speed approach. At some point, you gotta kick your highest paid players in the arse though and start expecting shit if they don't deliver naturally. We are reaching that point here pretty soon.

It's pretty clear via 20-20 hindsight that his best days are behind him. The Spurs got taken. It happens to the best of 'em.

What about KL, he's got a lot more muscle now, but carrying all that muscle takes a lot of energy. Energy he didn't have come the 4th quarter.

Aldridge looks thinner than he did at the beginning of the season - - so there's hope. He will always look fatter than Duncan who is now extremely thin.
