The two guys that did the most to get us the win vs the Wizards are the two guys everyone is trying to blame for the loss.
There were 44 minutes of basketball in which there were plenty of mistakes made by many different players. This was a team loss, they were out of rhythm the whole game. The only reason we were in position to win was because of Kawhi and Tony.

Kiwi choked in the clutch. It's in his DNA. A Kawhi led team is a guaranteed first round exit, and he makes no one on the team better.

All the Popsuckers that scoffed and tried to ridicule me when I said that Pop is still the biggest obstacle to the Spurs winning a title....
what is the reasoning now?
Where is the Coach of the year?
Bonner still the first "big" off the bench...
No sight of a TD/Tiago pairing....
Blair...6'7'' starting center ...
Being embarrassed by MIKE BROWN....MIKE FUCKIN' BROWN!
McRoberts posterizing Bonner....Pop pulls Bonner...Pop puts Bonner right back in...GENIUS!
No One on the Spurs with any desire...any fire...any balls...and Coach Pop didn't change anything...just kept the same rotation...the same everything....
This is what the Playoffs have in store...and this is exactly what happened last season...
Pop has had two seasons now with Splitter...and in two seasons...he has not been able to "find time" to try and integrate his only two players approaching 7 feet....this is the NBA where being tall is something that can't be taught...on top of that Splitter is not just some "serviceable' "blue collar" role player...he can actually be an asset by his mere presence on the court with his vision, passing, and basketball IQ...but fuckhead coach has pissed away two seasons....
This seasons playoffs are just about here and fuckhead coach is right on cue to get embarrassed again....
COTY....:lmao

Spurs 1-0 at home and 2-2 on the road with an entirely new system and strategy trying to incorporate a new all star. Even 19 year veteran Tim Duncan said he isn't yet exactly sure what his role on the team is. Grind it out on the road and try win at home while everyone sorts their new roles out.
Everyone is doing ok except maybe Green and West.
West 3ppg, 2rpg, 1apg, 57% in 12 minutes per game
Aldridge 15ppg, 10rpg, 41% FG in 32 minutes per game (career low so far, that'll improve when he is less hesitant and knows what he's doing)
Diaw 7ppg, 3rpg, 3.5 apg, 52% shooting in 19 minutes per game
Duncan 11ppg, 9rpg, 3.4apg, 1.2bpg, 49% pretty much what you expect in 29 minutes per game
Manu 11ppg, 3rpg, 3.8apg, 1.4spg, 1.8 turnovers in 20 minutes, 52%FG, 47%3PTFG, pretty much what we expect from manu
Mills 7ppg, 2rpg, 2apg, 53%FG 53%3PTFG
Leonard 21.6ppg, 9.2rpg, 2spg, 1.6bpg, 48%FG, 25%3PTFG
Green 6.4ppg, 5.2rpg, 1spg, 29%FG, 20%3PTFG
Parker 11.8ppg, 3apg, 54%FG, 1.8 turnovers in 27 minutes
That's the main rotation early on:
Negatives:
Too many jumpers and not enough free throw attempts.
Green has lost his shot and I think that effects his D
Leonard needs to improve his 3 PT shot
West WTF
Aldridge FG%
Accommodating budding MVP Candidate Kawhi Leonard and LaMarcus Aldridge the Spurs have changed into a more isolation offense instead of 'the beautiful game' we witnessed in the 2014 finals where the ball whipped around the court at warp speed and nobody cared who was shooting and scoring. The offense this year is a little stagnant trying to give Kawhi and LaMarcus the shots they want, and deserve. It's going to be a hard an interesting year for Pop to work things out.
Positives:
Aldridge rebounding at about the same rate as TD
Parker is doing just fine as a role playing PG, not an All NBA PG
Improvements:
West needs to improve everything
LMA needs to improve his % once he becomes comfortable
Green cant hit the ocean if he was in a boat, he needs his shot back. When his 3 is on the team is scary.
A nice mixture between 'the beautiful game' of 2014 and what we have now
Spurs 99.2PPG which you expect to go up
Spurs 92 opponent PPG which is very good
Losses against a good Thunder team (we did have a 7 point lead in the 4th quarter) and a loss at the buzzer against the Wizards on a fucken 3 with 0.3 seconds left (terrible D from Aldridge on that mismatch)
This is a new team with a new strategy and it's going to take some time to gel. Still, 3-2, 100% at home, the 2 losses were very avoidable and we could be 5-0 even though the team doesn't know how to play together yet. 77 games left to learn how to play together. Just need to fix a few things, looking forward to an exiting and challenging season

I mean, Parker and Leonard did a lot of good things to help the team Wednesday, but blaming the leading scorers for bad offense is hardly faulty logic. OKC's offense sucked despite having the perennial scoring champ and Westbrook. You can carry a team and still be a reason why the team loses. I haven't even thought about blaming anyone for the Wizards loss, but I wouldn't dismiss Parker or Leonard just because the box score.

Leave a circus alone long enough and you'll have nothing but monkeys. Now you have a few posters who are so thirsty for attention they'll do anything they can to get people to talk to them. It's like myspace whoring from back in the day, except they feel edgy because they're relatively anonymous and using the word "faggot" a lot. A lot of panic here 5 games in. Parker and Kawhi aren't the problems with this team. It's our lack of outside shooting, particularly from 3. We need a swing man that can spread the floor. We miss Beli, bad defense and all. Green is cold and Patty is good, but we need floor spacing from the 3. Kawhi will make 35%, but he's not going to be a volume three point shooter. That's not his strength and Spurs are trying to have him post up, which means he needs a shooter to kick the ball to when he's doubled or drives. We just don't have that right now.

Danny has been ice cold, but he's always been streaky. He's overdue for a breakout game. When he finds his stroke, Spurs will get a double-digit W.

The work of Timvp, Bruno and others who would make well-thought out articulate posts of publishable quality is what attracted me to this site in 2008. Living far away from SA, I could get links to all the relevant articles on the Spurs in one place and often follow interesting discussions. It was the best place to come for an instant update.
I think it was after the loss to the Heat in 2013 that this place began to suffer a bit, as many of the old posters left. Then came a few posters (very few really, but they may have alts), who I truly believe are not Spurs fans but fans of other teams who have succeeded in dividing this forum into various groups. I don't think I'd ever heard the term "player fan" until this year, and I wonder if those who introduced it were not themselves trying to create dissension. The incessant Tony bashing shows a mob mentality, with the leaders doing it as loudly as possible and others meekly following just to fit in. Other posters have tried to turn Kawhi, who definitely deserves mammoth praise, into practically the sole reason we're winning, and advocated this in so many ridiculous threads, posted at such a rapid frequency, that a backlash against Leonard has developed, and now an anti-Kawhi contingent roams these boards. Throw in a few spoiled fans who want to fire Pop, despite 20 years of unparalleled success, or bench player X every time we lose a game, and discussion has been replaced by a primitive sort of tribalism. It is rather sad that these provocateurs whose agenda is clearly to create rifts among the Spurs faithful have succeeded.
Given how successful the Spurs have been for decades, if this is the high life, I'd hate to see what these sames fans would do if they were supporters of the Timberwolves, or Hornets, or Knicks or even the Clippers until recently. My guess is very little, as no one would care. But making fans of the most successful franchise of all major American sports the past 20 years, one really rivaled only by the Patriots, feel miserable and hate their own players is quite a trolling accomplishment. Congratulations. I hope it gives your life meaning.

-Rique had like 4 or 6 points going into the 4th Qtr
-coincidentally, the Spurs also had a lead
-4th Qtr arrives and Rique decides it's time to engage hero mode
-per usual, it backfires and the lead is lost
-Kawhi who has been frozen out all 4th Qtr despite 18 first half points, is asked to bail the team out
-team loses and Riquetards want to blame Kawhi
In summary, all Rique had to do was keep playing his Prigioni role and the Spurs win. That French motherfucker loves to play hero though so he wasn't having none of that.

I personally think the turning point was before that. It was when they unshackled the spurs forum. Downstairs used to be the place you went to talk trash and be an asshole. Up here, you had to bring some takes or get shut down. That was the PERFECT system because it still allowed for histrionics but they were contained.
But then something happened, the admins stopped doing anything, and honorable posters like Duncan228 left because they got sick of the junior high bullshit that took the place of actual basketball discussion. There was always silly shit happening (bravatars, anyone?) but most of it was goofy, in good humor, and somewhat restrained. That's been replaced in no small part by attention whores who spam the forum incessantly and try to form crews to protect their own precious ego, because being anonymous on a message board isn't enough to sate their insecurities.
As soon as the older posters who brought quality content dropped off, it started a feedback spiral. Sad, really.

:lol what's funny is the inability of some of you to ignore the same 5 or 6 anti-Kawhi posters that repeat the same illogical, uninformed, vanilla shit in every thread, tbh..it's pretty easy to overlook their posts and threads, not missing out on much..
This thread is silly..there were dozens of takes and discussions around the forum about the Wizards game, yet OP is focusing on a few threads that were created by 3 or 4 terrible posters(some of those posters have been running the same shtick since 2013, btw, they just switched from Manu to Kawhi, but they're too irrelevant to notice)..this isn't anything new, btw, this forum has always had terrible meltdown threads after losses, it's a staple of SpursTalk..

That's about as accurate as it gets. And the downward spiral is visible in the responses below your post.
Duncan228 brought in a lot of information that was accurate, timely, and just good to read. She got tired of the bullshit, and went elsewhere. Regardless of who was responsible, it was a loss for SpursTalk. Now most of the "content" is either "Tony sucks", "Manu sucks", or "OP is a faggot" *. Not exactly the same quality of information about the Spurs as before. But the children are all insufferably pleased with themselves when they say it.
*Sorry... didn't mean to leave out "butthurt" and "umadbro?".

Duncan228 was a good poster who left because she was sick and tired of being harassed by cant_be_faded and a few others for posting articles rather than speaking her mind. It had nothing to do with the downward spiral of Spurstalk. The "Tony sucks", "Manu sucks", or "OP is a faggot" posts is what happens when you leave the forum to the dogs, free of moderation.

"the downward spiral"
I've seen two downward spirals.
First downward spiral
The first one might not have been a downward spiral, but just the way spurstalk has always been. I came to spurstalk in '09 after moving to a new city. I could no longer talk Spurs with my buddies every day, so I figured "cool, I can at least have internet chats with other Spurs fans."
But holy cow, there was so much profanity, disrespect and lack of civility between "Spurs fans." It was completely unexpected. Why on earth would a website for like-minded people be so constantly negative? I mean, if this was an NBA forum, I could see getting into it with Laker fans, Mavs fans, OKC fans, etc. Just like on sites like cnn.com, I totally expect arguments between conservatives and liberals. But this is Spurstalk. All of us are Spurs fans, so why the hostility? And when I brought it up, everyone attacked me, as if I was wrong for expecting "Spurs fans" to get along.
People tried to justify this behavior by saying, "It's the internet." So what? PTR is also on the internet, but they nip shit in the bud if people start getting out of line. There's nothing to justify so many derogatory, sexist, racist, etc. comments on this website.
Second downward spiral
The second downward spiral is much more recent, as others have said, with Apo, great yacht, dabom, etc. They completely ruin this site with divisive comments about the Spurs and general messages of hate toward everyone else. This is a 100% failure by the site admins/moderators. They are abdicating their responsibilities, and we're suffering the consequences.
I mean, I have over 100 members on my ignore list due to their unacceptable behavior and off-putting comments. That's ridiculous. Those accounts should have been closed long ago. I will continue coming here because there are a few people whose comments I enjoy reading. But it sure is a chore.

I find that to be more than a little ironic that so many people "block" others. Yes, the emojis are annoying and I question why any adult male uses them, the offensive hateful language has run rampant, and the basketball takes are few and far between, but this is a "MESSAGE BOARD." You have to expect that. You really want the board to be moderated so that anyone with a "shit take" in your opinion gets banned? Then you would have 48 minutes of Hell or pounding the rock where a bunch of people who never played basketball write about basketball and all agree on the same things all the time. That is just as "sickening" as what I see on the board. Life is about being accepting of all different views no matter how stupid. To take this site so seriously may just be your first problem.

So, your theory is that Tony had that great of a game? I don't see it that way.
enrique puttin spurs in position to win? explain why did he blow a 12pt lead with his shenanigans? i dont care if he hit that 3pt to tie the game..without the hero ball spurs wouldnt be put into that position to rely on a basket to win/lose/ot
Kiwi choked in the clutch. It's in his DNA. A Kawhi led team is a guaranteed first round exit, and he makes no one on the team better.
Spurs 0-2 when Kawhobe has 0 assists
http://cdn.makeagif.com/media/11-05-2015/0kFMmL.gif
TP did much better than Kawhi against the Wizards. Kawhi chucked and choked. 23 points on 22 shots? :lmao I would argue that Manu and Tony were the best Spurs on the court, while Kawhi and (especially) LMA were responsible for the loss.

I was using the term player fan in 2010. It describes a certain type of person who follows an individual regardless of that individuals team. Think Lebron fans. These dipshits here aren't trying to cause a rift, they are just begging for the attention from the rare few who bring fresh takes, they long to belong. They see someone bring up an interesting new schtick and they all hop aboard to pick the crumbs from it. A lot of these are just alternate names from other shitty posters. You know who they are, just look at the post count of the normal names here.
They have nothing else to do. It's not like they have a lot of cash and a social life. It's nothing new, much of it was brought on by the originators in fact. What you see now is just the lower level trolls who aren't even in the least bit interesting. They always existed however now that the originators have fled, the leg riders are like fleas in a bathtub full of water once the dog has left.

Well you're 0-1 so far.
Me too -- catching up on Bob's Burgers. Last movie I saw on that was November Man which I liked, Brosnan usually makes for at least a basically enjoyable movie. Saw that a bunch of classics like Chinatown and French Connection are on it so I'll rewatch those and maybe take in Insomnia if i feel like tolerating 21st century Pacino.
Just started watching Dark Matter. It's watchable. Good in places, even. If nothing else for the main female, who's extremely hot.

In case anyone was wondering, I'm not Asian. I'm whiter than the inside of a freshly baked loaf of H-E-B bread, actually.
At the time, she was posting articles that no one else found, or at least before anyone else had found them. I liked it, as did a lot of others, because I didn't have to scrub the web. If there was something worth finding, chances are she found it long before I would have.
This was always a big boys' forum. Say something stupid, and you'd get your ass kicked. Most people - at least most people here - didn't object to that. But just pissing one someone for the fuck of it? No normal person wants to line up to see that. THAT's the "downward spiral". And that's what Duncan228 got tired of... getting pissed on for no reason. It got to be like watching a bunch of middle school boys trading "your mama" cuts. It's annoying, but also boring as shit to anyone out of middle school. Now we have the Tony/Manu/Kawhi Krews, and that's boring too.
ChumpDumper is a snide sonofabitch, but at least he's creative when he trashes someone. And when he's talking ball, he knows his shit. Say what you want, but he's not boring. With the incredible offseason the Spurs had, and all that there should be to talk about, most of posts are repetitive garbage. As much as anything, it's the fucking boredom that kills this place now. Same.old.shit.

I don't know about anyone else, but I promise you I don't give a rat fuck if you're Asian or white bread.

Where are your basketball takes? Where are your threads that generate basketball discussion? People have been bitching about this place for years yet no one takes the initiative to make a change. Almost all of the older posters just bitch and whine. Only a handful actually bring the goods. If you don't like it, change it.
