View Full Version : SHout out to Chris Webber for the end game remarks

Lost in the buffoonery and brain dead closing moments of game 2 was the brilliant and raw taunting of "the miscall" from one Christopher J Webber.

We need to send our regard to him for having our back with that call.
I've never seen anyone, national commentator or other, put out something like that on a national broadcast, and him siding with the Spurs was pretty cool regardless of any bias (which I'm positive isn't the case no matter what okc fan will argue).

I thought I'd transcribe it because it's even more grand when it's laid out in print:

That was an offensive foul on Ginobili.
That was an offensive foul by OKC on San Antonio.
Ginobili, the coaches, the team, everyone is upset.
That was an offensive foul!
A BLANTANT offensive foul!
It was an offensive foul.
And If I'm Ginobili, if I'm the Spurs, I am upset too.
If was there for everyone to view it, wide open.
That was an offensive foul.
The game is over and Coach Popovich is at the scoreboard table because it is an offensive foul.
Look at this - he's out of bounds.
You can't push somebody from out of bounds!
I've never seen that before.
But it was an offensive foul, it doesn't matter.
They're supposed to have the ball.
The rest of this play does not matter.
It was an offensive foul.
The rest of that five seconds does not matter.
Terrible!
Whether you're OKC fan, whether you're a San Antonio fan, I don't have a dog in this fight.
You just want guys to have the best chance to win.
You want it to be fair.

I got my Sac Kings C-Webb jersey order on standby. Great job man!

Webber actually got fucked by the refs so I understand it, but the Spurs can't blame anyone other than themselves tonight. They should have converted that last play. They weren't getting a better scoring opportunity than what they got. I'll take a live ball turnover over a dead ball turnover any day when I need a basket.

Yeah Chris Webber knows what it is like playing for a small market team going against an NBA Money-Making Machine. His Kings got fucked by the league/refs in 2002 Playoffs.

the only good thing about this game was the underrated C-Webb exorcising some 2002 demons out there tonight. :lol

i can't blame him if he does have PTSD from it, shit I still remember it and 2012. Stern must've been texting Silver from his CFR meetings on how to officiate this one.

Spurs had plenty of missed opportunities though. Hopefully the league tries to clean this shit up for the playoffs and maybe it might help Spurs further on.

I don't think its the ref rigging the game like 2012, the game didn't have this feel to me. They could've blown many whistles for Westbrook if they wanted to rig the game. Just ref scared not knowing how to react. They didn't call the foul on Durant also, if they wanted to rig they would've called that

Ibaka holding LMA's jersey was just as egregious. The ref was looking right at them as well. Mind boggling. Refs also missed about 2 and 1 LMA shots and at least a KL and 1. Absolutely terrible ref job. We didn't play well but we fought the entire game and were in a position to win but we got screwed.

That's why we need to blow teams out and take the refs out of the equation. If it comes down to a call or non call at the end, 9 times out of 10 it's gonna be a screwjob. Let's pull a 2014 Finals and smash the Thunder three more times.

Can't blame the refs on this one. Cuz they aren't the ones that had West, Diaw, ginobli, green, and mills at the beginning of the 4th when we cut it to 1. They aren't the ones that made Mills shoot a dumb ass 3 with a 7 footer coming at him while Green was wide open. Nope, not blaming this on the refs

Problem with this logic for me is that, you can always point out mistakes. Nobody has a perfect game.
But everybody wants to be responsible and have control, win or lose. Nobody wants to play hard, then get some mistake pointed out when the refs mess up on an obvious call.

With that said, I agree they had a great opportunity. Even if they couldn't call a timeout, they became too hesitant.
Specially Manu imo, he's the veteran there and should have gone hard to the basket. Maybe he has lost confidence in his own body, but as far as I saw he had a lot of space to at least draw a foul.

I'm also thankful for C Webb. It's refreshing that someone on TV is willing to go away from the ref protecting, PR cliches and tell the truth. If the ref messed up they messed up. As said he had to go through that with the Kings so it actually sounded honest.

It's just funny how typical this is. When something like this happens to the Spurs, collectively the media is like well that play didn't decide the game, but when it happens to LA, GSW or whoever the team of the moment is, the mouthpieces would be screaming from the rooftops about the team getting screwed regardless of it came down to "that one play".

SpursforSix
05-03-2016, 09:27 AM
the spurs had a timeout, didn't they?

Yep.

I really don't see the big deal. You couldn't have wished for much better for them than to get the ball on a steal. Had a decent chance to make a basket. Or they could have called a time out.

Spurs9
05-03-2016, 09:44 AM
You could argue that it was a better scenario getting it inbound and pretty much having the opportunity of a layup. And the spurs blew it by leaving the game in Mills hands, and not even calling a timeout. Spurs fans are only upset because they missed the final shot and now lean on, :cry it was a missed call that we could have won with :cry
Spurs didn't deserve to win this game, Mills was garbage, Parker should have been in last play, Leonard didn't show up, we missed layups, Duncan was bad. Leonard disappears and defers too much after having a good game, we can't have that. That was probably the hardest we would see OKC play and they only won by a point.

On further review you notice at the end Mills just about had the path to an open layup. Instead of Green firing a bullet bounce pass to Mills he kind of just floated the pass slowly up there and Patty caught it in an awkward position before having to pass out to Manu instead of putting it in himself. A better quicker pass from Green could have led to a Patty layup instead of a broken play that ended in a missed 3.

All of those missed calls that they are trying to put on the Spurs are irrelevant if they make the first call on that idiot elbowing Manu from out of bounds! There were a ton of missed calls that OKC did to the Spurs and no calls! Those bitches got and 1's and we got nothing! Bunch of BS! Thank you Chriis Webber for speaking out! As for Mike & Mike, they are bought and paid for by ESPN/NBA! Bunch of losers!
