He hasn't agreed to a contract.

He put up better numbers than MJ as a NCAA freshman

See, that right there is how Jimmer discussions get spawned. Find some alternate universe where one player is theoretically better than another.

Is he performing better than Luwawu though?

Is he performing better than Luwawu though?

It's a valid question. Wonder if he does the ole 23 skidoo in the shower.

DeJonte is much further along then I expected after having seen him for the 1st time.
I thought wow, super skinny this kid might be one, two even three years away.
Kudos to whatever scout(s) and/or RC who kept up with Murray.

The San Antonio Spurs select Washington PG DeJounte Murray with the No. 29 pick. Steal of the draft. He was ranked No. 9 on my final Big Board bling, athletic and a great feel. If his shooting improves he could be the best PG in the draft. He could be an All-Star someday. Seriously. Typical Spurs. They got a lottery pick at 29.
Damn, Chad was right. This thread is hilarious btw:lol Have to love this kids progression. 1st in the league in steals and 4th in the league in assist with 8.9!

Defense is what most folks dismiss when judging DJ as a player. They focus on his fourth quarter woes or his shooting inefficiency (of which are being less frequent)

Basketball is played on both ends of the court.

He should make All-Defensive First Team this year

As long as he doesn’t lurk around to get his triple-double stats or last minutes heroics. I always have reservations for Westbrook kind of players. That’s why Manu is my all-time favorite because he didn’t care for any of those stuff

I agree, but it doesn't seem like DJ hunts for stats like Russ does. Remarkably all of his numbers seem legit and has one of the best assist to turnover ratios in the league.

His purple shoes concern me.

The Spurs didn't pick a flashy dumbass did they?

Of course, he is just a kid so maybe it means nothing.

you should retire

Arizona State coach Bobby Hurley texted me: "Dejounte Murray has All-Star potential."

Bobby Hurley knows his hoops. :tu

Also funny to see some of the responses to this pick in here. Some of these posters eating crow. Also fun to see some of the older posters who are no longer with us :lol

I knew media would be saying this shit. Every year, same thing. Do they read from a script and just insert the draftee's name?

Seriously. There are teams that are better than the Spurs have been recently.

That's still true. It's a weird troll that you're on that you think Murray's All-Star was a unique accomplishment on the Spurs' parts when there are multiple players drafted below his spot also on the team.

Still, I was happy with the pick.

looking back at some of the players that a few ST posters wanted over murray;

Pat McCraw-out of the league after being waived by the Raptors.
Tyler Ulis-living in Lexington, KY now.
Gary Payton II-meh

and i guess Chad Ford and Bobby Hurley get some redemption, even if almost six years later.

So was I. I vividly remember saying he made more sense than Brogdon because of the age gap and was a flat out better prospect than McCaw . . . but the apologists are too busy trying to play "gotcha" to remember that part. :wakeup
