Why the hell to people keep picking the Bills? The Ravens should beat them by at least two touchdowns.

I had a tough time picking that game. It's the first game, so every team plays extremely hard. They are playing in the dome, and you have some Sophomores with a lot of weight on their shoulders.
Should be an exciting season.

I mean, if the Ravens get the two-point conversion, then that's exactly what I mean.

A nine-point victory would be pretty substantial.

Real-talk, they should.
Anyway, I don't get why Rex always gets so much love. I think the Bills are a definite third in the AFCE this season. The Ravens should actually be healthy again, so I expect something closer to 2014 rather than last year. That's a far try from 2011 and 2012, but they aren't a bottom-feeder.

The Billies are trash and the Ravens don't lose at that stadium when healthy, except sometimes to the Steelers.

Saints will be better, and won't be dropping home games to subpar teams this year.
I have the Saints at 8–8 and last place in the division this year, but still competitive with a great home record... here's standings after complete pick'ems

Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints waited until the 11th hour. But they finally agreed to contract extension Wednesday, according to league sources -- four days before the quarterback's self-imposed Week 1 deadline.
The extension will be announced as a five-year deal but contains an automatic void to two years, sources told ESPN's Ed Werder, meaning Brees is contractually committed to Saints for this season and next only. His $20 million salary this season and $24.25 million for next season -- a total of $44.25 million -- is fully guaranteed, the sources said.
The deal also includes a no-trade clause and forbids the Saints from using their franchise tag on the quarterback. In essence, the Saints get Brees under contract for one additional season but by spreading the contract over five years they significantly reduce Brees' $30 million cap hit for 2016, which was the highest for any player in NFL history.

And I don't have Atlanta making the playoffs despite a solid season. Their conference record and inability to beat Carolina and make plays when they matter most does them in this season.
Still 11–5 is a solid bet considering their schedule and the talent they have... Dan Quinn is good stuff.

The Bungles have to be the most overrated team of the generation.....
Let's see, their offense is very mediocre outside of Green; their QB is borderline sewage. They have a defense that's going to sniff top 10 but they tend to crumple when it counts. They're the Atlanta Hawks of the NFL; always in the mix, perennial pretenders.
This year, with the return of the Ravens, the Bungles are going to find themselves on the outside looking in... .500, which is indicative of that team and where they belong. They'll have a couple big wins... but their schedule is going to be too much, just brutal this year outside of the Browns games, Bills, Dolphins, and lone Eagle game.

As far as SSSr goes, it's up in the air. Apparently, his calf looked awful less than a month ago. I am fine with him being worked in slowly. Just has to peak in the playoffs. Flacco can use this time to get used to his other receivers. He should look better now that he has three burners and Pitta back. 2. The NFC East is full of injuries and unfulfilled promises. No way on god's green earth do 2 of those 3 teams reach 10+ wins...maybe none do.
3. The Vikings are likely going to suck, and both DET and CHI are more like 6-7 win teams imo
4. The Cardinals are a lock for the playoffs if Palmer stays healthy.
5. Patriots will win between 10-12 games (still win the East)
6. Dolphins will be between 8 and 10 wins.
7. You have the AFCN all jacked up after Pittsburgh. The Ravens won't be that good, and neither the Bengals nor Browns will be that bad.

9. In the AFCW I think Oakland is a 9-10 win team
1. Atlanta showed real promise last year until the injury bug quashed their season. Dan Quinn is a heck of a coach and I think they surprise a lot of people this year. Not quite good enough for the playoffs, but very good nonetheless. I have Tampa doing well too but just not good enough in a stacked NFC.
2. Yes, but it is also loaded with real talent, most especially on offense. This could be the year the East returns to the mid-late 2000s "BEast" form. Except for the Eagles, they're in transition, they're going to be horrid.
3. To be fair, the predictions were all made a few days before the Bridgewater injury, but Bradford could be just as good (better in the passing game and worse in the running game). That defense is borderline top 5 and still growing. They drafted the best receiver in the draft... question is, is AP still top 3 elite? Detroit and Chicago are horrible and expected to be horrible. Detroit already had no offense and now they lost their best player on offense. Chicago isn't good on either end.
4. If you want me to post the pick'ems, I will -- I have the Cardinals starting out 7–0 (they always have a hot first half or so of the season) and 8–1, but they have an absolutely brutal road-heavy late season schedule and that along with the Cardinals' tendency to always flame out towards the end will have AZ on the outside looking into the playoffs at 11–5 come January in the stacked NFC despite being very talented on both ends.
5. The Patriots may lose one or two more -- I have them losing at Arizona, at Denver, and at Miami (per par). I don't know, it's not a great division, and they nearly always beat the Bills twice. They play the NFC West which has 2 great teams but the Seahawks game as in Foxborough where they don't lose. They could lose in Pittsburgh but I had NE winning that game in one of the more epic matches of the season.
6. The LOLphins? Are you kidding me? Every single offseason everyone praises them... and every single regular season they fail miserably to live up to any expectations. They're not a good franchise and their home fans don't care unless they're playing the Patriots. I think they win 7 games, maximum. Tannehill just isn't that good of a QB. Their secondary isn't anything to write home about, either.
7. The Ravens won't be that good? I don't see them being significantly, if at all, worse than 2014 where they were a couple plays from beating New England and likely making the Super Bowl. Flacco is borderline elite and has the "it" factor in clutch situations. They have weapons offensively and a pretty darn good defense. They could be a dark horse team if the Pats falter for some reason. The Bengals are an overrated choking bunch of pretenders, the QB and OL suck, and the defense relies heavily on its LBs and secondary (still top 10)... also have a brutal schedule. As for the Browns? The ****ing Browns? :lol :lol they're perennially the laughingstock of the league and should continue to be so, on both sides of the ball.
8. The Colts could get a couple more wins depending on some things, but they're just not a very good football team outside of Luck. Their defense isn't good, their offense has less skill players than they did last time they were in the playoffs... I don't think they make it. Jacksonville is too young and raw and are a poorly run organization, and Bortles isn't going to cut it as an NFL QB. They have some weapons offensively but don't know how to win and their defensive talent is WAY too young to win. Give them another couple years.
9. Oakland may be slightly improved, but I don't think they'll be amazing. They're the type who will have a couple surprise wins as well as mind-numbing losses. They have a pretty good pass rush and overall front 7, they have a good WR, but their OL, secondary, QB, running game, other receivers... all leaves a lot to be desired. I think their ceiling is .500 and could bottom out at 5–11. No way they win 10 games with all that rawness given their schedule against the loaded NFC South and other things, though I do have them scoring a surprise home victory over the Panthers.

I'm not going to blame a player for taking money. But the Saints just have bite the bullet. They don't even have a title window right now. If they had accepted that two years ago, who knows where they could've been by this point?
So you think Dixon is a factor this year? Isn't he missing 4 games and they have Forsett and others.
I think his injury was the only reason why Forsett's release was temporary. He had pretty much been hurt for most of camp, but after he came back, they started giving him the plurality of the carries. The game where he got hurt, he was eating Detroit up. The only way I don't see him being a factor is if Forsett or West turns in a Pro Bowl --caliber season, starting with the first four games.

Vikings aren't losing to the shitty Titans... Saints probably won't lose at home first game of the season to a mediocre team, and Cowboys aren't losing at home to NYG (road would be the opposite outcome, I think).

alright I'll give you that... your OL is far far improved from the days of Jennings & McFadden... you're a 3-4 team, you have a potential star OLB, your DL is eh... secondary is pretty bad if the pass rush doesn't get there.
OL just looks not as good because Carr just isn't that great.
guy who made the all pro team in 2 different positions is a "potential" star :lol
there are plenty of spots to criticize the raiders... running back situation, middle linebacker, safety, thin corner group, and holes on d-line.. but you seem to pick some weird ones like OL and QB which are relative strengths for the team
its annoying enough to have to click "show this post" but then when i do and the content is total shit, its just a colossal waste of time all around

Yes, half their roster isn't on IR this year.
well that works for everyone doesn't it? the secondary looks awful and there is not much burst on the dline imo. A lot of the D is supposed to rely on old players coming from injuries, I don't know man... The Oline is probably going to be good, but that left side is awfully young, the receiver corp is probably going to be a receiver corpse tbh.. mike is shit, steve smith is done, dennis pitta is a miracle if he even plays at all.. I don't know... The rest of the afc took a massive step back this year, so you may be right, but I just don't see their level grown much for now. Need to see the rookies first, i guess..

The Ravens' D-line is easily their strongest unit. Besides Suggs, everyone on the starting front seven is under 27. Their three returning starters in the secondary played all of last season, though they were recovering from injury then and are healthier now. The new starter is an All-Pro safety. Most of their injured defenders are gone now.
OL is good and will be better after Week One when Ozzie cuts Hurst and adds a vet LT to back up Stanley. The likely starter at guard is a three-year vet who's started games each of the last two seasons, so that's not too young. SSSr is old, not done (or hasn't looked it yet). He's like 2015 Tim as opposed to 2016 Tim. I think he's still good for a reduced role. Aiken showed he can produce as a starter, so I don't worry about possession receiving. Same with TE. Gilmore and Williams are good enough to where no one has to depend on Pitta. And you have three deep options, so it's not just about Wallace. Strong stable of RBs. Best STs in the game. Impact players on PUP, IRDTR and suspended to give mid-season infusions of talent. They'll be fine.

its not even that i think the ravens suck, but i'm just done giving them the free "they're solid, probably playoffs" benefit of the doubt that they'd gotten for seemingly far too long, including early last season
Far too long? I mean, they made the playoffs every year from 2008-2012, and after 2010 or so they were a top-four AFC team.
So in 2013, that carried over, especially considering they had just one the Super Bowl.
In 2014 after a good draft and coming off and 8-8 year that seemed more like a hangover than permanent decline, they were picked to make the playoffs again. They do make the playoffs, coming some Belichick trickery away from getting to the AFCC for the third time in four years.
So in 2015, after having another year with SSSr and another draft to recover from their SB exodus and with Harbaugh getting hype as a top-three coach (and getting Jimmy Smith back from injury), yeah, they were hyped as a top team. Then, of course, they get started immediately with the injuries and the anti-clutchness.
If you want to say you aren't giving the Ravens the benefit of the doubt now, that's fine. But it doesn't make sense to think they've been hyped for "far too long". The Ravens have been to the playoffs 6/8 and 7/10 seasons. It understandable why people assumed they would be there.

that's fair. i guess i've just been conditioned to assume the ravens will make the playoffs without ever looking at their roster, analyzing transactions, etc. Sorta like how new england is always an auto-pick to win the division, i had the ravens in a similar boat, which might have been a fair assumption, as you pointed out.

Michaels and Collinsworth are a fairly close second and can be pretty good, Michaels in particular can get a little dull and scatterbrained but I like his analyses, and Collinsworth is always fun and analytical and interesting. Love his "whooooop" whenever someone fumbles the ball.

Every season we see the same thing, that's guys overreacting to early seasons results, SLOW DOWN and give things some time, ok?
My fav....Chiefs destroy Pats 41-14 in a week 4 game back in 2014 and it's....TOM BRADY IS DONE~ All the Pats did in 2014 was win the SB.
Give things some time.
The Vikes can win without TB, but they can't win the NFC North without him. He didn't lose games. Packers there.
Lucky Cards and Seahawks, to have my Niners/Rams to beat up on.
Giants the class of the East, if there is any class in that weird division.
Panthers too much for the South.
The Pats zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...again in the East.
Steelers stay healthy they are the SB team from the AFC.
How many INT's with Luck pitch in 2016, talk about a weak division.
Here we have the best race in the NFL....Broncos/Chiefs/Raiders. Really hard to get a legit read on that this early.
No ATS plays this season, my man got popped. Will make SU plays just for fun.
Tonight....Panthers. Revenge/QB advantage.
Other plays before Sunday.

Two years before that vid then. 2010 ended with Kellen Winslow getting called for OPI to take away the TD that would have sent them to the playoffs instead of the Packers (ironically the champs that year). The NFL came out later and apologized for the call, but that was like the most recent Spurs/Thunder series wrapped up in one play.

Tirico won't be broadcasting many games this season.
From Wiki:
Tirico officially joined NBC Sports (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NBC_Sports) in July 2016. His first official duties for NBC was calling the first two rounds of the 2016 Open Championship (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_Open_Championship), something he had helped call for previous rights holder ESPN. He then left for Rio de Janeiro almost immediately to help anchor daytime coverage of the 2016 Summer Olympics (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_Summer_Olympics) from NBC's beach set. [7] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Tirico#cite_note-7)
While it was originally reported Tirico would perform play-by-play duties for NBC's Thursday Night Football (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thursday_Night_Football) broadcasts, the NFL (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NFL) later revealed that the contract with NBC requires that the network use the lead play-by-play commentator (in this case, Al Michaels (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al_Michaels)) for both Thursday and Sunday night broadcasts. [8] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Tirico#cite_note-8) Tirico performed play-by-play duties for NBC's two preseason NFL games, [9] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Tirico#cite_note-9) and will also announce Thursday Night games produced by NBC but airing exclusively on NFL Network (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NFL_Network). NBC Sports chairman Mark Lazarus told Richard Deitsch (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Deitsch) of Sports Illustrated (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sports_Illustrated) he expects Tirico to eventually assume the lead role on NFL broadcasts when Michaels steps down. In the meantime, he will host Football Night in America (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Football_Night_in_America) and the 2016 Ryder Cup (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_Ryder_Cup), plus fill in for Dan Hicks (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dan_Hicks_(sportscaster)) on Notre Dame Fighting Irish football (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Notre_Dame_Fighting_Irish_football) games.[10] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Tirico#cite_note-10)

Ravens

Last time I looked, you could go 12-4 just by picking with the spread. It would make sense to aim to do better than chance.

Only taunting, fighting, and showing up the official constitute technical fouls... 2 of which = ejection. Exactly like the NBA. I like it. (Ex. roughing the passer, chopblocks, tripping, interference, unnecessary roughness etc DO NOT constitute technical fouls)...
Kind of like the NBA where things like the first flagrant, hanging on the rim, delay of games, or defensive three seconds don't count, but taunting/fighting/ref baiting do.

Their only hope is to throw the ball. Our corners aren't looking great. They've been getting beat. But this Denver QB is gonna have to start making reads, instead of the gimmicky, quick throwing offense he's doing.
