They've never been better with him on the bench, tbh..he's legit, but he has some major defensive flaws that people overlook for whatever reason, particularly man defense..

The Pelicans have consistently been among the worst teams in the NBA at defending the paint, since he entered the league..

Yeah, with Holiday and Evans injured, there's no other legit starter and the only other player who projects to be one, is Hield. It's probably the least talented roster in the West.

Demps and Gentry probably won't last the season and it's only a matter of time until Davis wants out.

He is my pick for the early shocking coach firing that happens annually in the NBA..It also doesn't seem like he has the rapport AD had established with Monty Williams..I think that's spot somebody like Jeff van Gundy might jump back in to coach..

Yeah, it's not so much about whether Gentry deserves it, it's just the reality of how things usually work. When he took over, they had (unfairly) high expectations and this will be the 2nd straight season where they're probably not even in the playoff race.

Van Gundy will only go back to coaching if it's the Rockets (lives in Houston), one of the 4 elites or the Timberwolves because they have the potential to eventually become one.
