He's playing like a PG tonight.

He has almost every night. People fail to realize that while he's a scoring PG more (and one of the best ever finishers) the system is what limits his assists. Not his vision or selfishness. He was always leading the league (or close to it) in hockey assists.

He plays like a PG all the time - PG's dont play the same every game but they are responsible for actually running an offense and creating which TP has always done at a very high level.

He's not a Nash/CP that just handles all the time until they find an assist though.

That's why I say his vision sucks. Maybe I should have said "his vision is below average" to don't hurt people's feelings but the fact remains, a good passer hits the star player on a hot shooting streak in less than a second.

And it's not a slight on Patty which the Krew takes it as. Patty is a fantastic spark and our best shooter. They just don't want Patty doing what he does best. I guarantee Patty likes THIS Tony so he can do what he does best.

Spurs need to come out with an edge in the second half and put the lead up to 30. Toronto was down 25 to the Dubs last week and came all the way back before DeScruban chucked them out of it. Tonight he's hitting so counting on his chucks to miss might not work.

If he consistently plays like he did this first half I'll be thrilled. When he looks spry, more times than not he uses it to get his. That's what I have problem with. Tony Parker just moved into #63 in NBA history in minutes played, passing Latrell Sprewell with 35,271 career minutes.

Kawhi Leonard's 5 three-pointers in the first half are the second most he's ever had in a half. Had 6 in the second at Memphis 12/3/15.

Tony Parker now has more made field goals in the NBA than Julius Erving. Parker passes Dr. J for #58 all time with his 7,238th basket.

Might as well not even root for your own team. :rolleyes

It's called analysis my friends, and looking at the team/numbers/matchups and saying the team won't win it all doesn't make them bad fans; the fact they'll be rooting their asses off with the rest of you means they care just as much.

Sadly, I don't see much analysis, Rob. :depressedExcept for Chinook and DPG and a few others such as yourself, analysis left this site with Bruno and TiMvp, What I see is "Porker" and "Kawhi isn't clutch" and "Pop and RC suck" and a struggling young player is a "Fathead." I see defeatists who rant because their team isn't an overwhelming favorite.

As far as rooting, making a game thread calling your team "paper tigers" in the title isn't rooting. It's covering all your bases in case of a loss. It'd be like going to a home game and holding up a sign that says "Spurs are Crap!" just in case they lose.

Okay, my diaper is full. Anger is not my MO.

Time to take the meds... :lol

That's why I say his vision sucks. Maybe I should have said "his vision is below average" to don't hurt people's feelings but the fact remains, a good passer hits the star player on a hot shooting streak in less than a second.

Manu would've seen that pass 5 seconds before Enrique did, that's for sure.

RD2191
01-03-2017, 09:47 PM
No bruh - it hasn't. I'm not claiming he's Nash, but his vision has never been even close to below average.

Well, I don't know about you but I don't know of many PGs that wouldn't have hit Kawhi within 0.5 seconds there. If you don't accept that Parker's vision has always been below average for a hall of famer PG then you're being a homer suckup, tbh.

Yeah, he did actually. :tu

If he consistently plays like he did this first half I'll be thrilled. When he looks spry, more times than not he uses it to get his. That's what I have problem with. I hope he has turned into a team player overnight but I have my doubts considering the fact that he has a history of putting on his hero cape during games, tbh.

Bro - he's an aggressive player and always been super efficient. But he always has passed. He never had gaudy assists but this narrative that he's selfish doesn't fly in the face of any research. He's always passing, meaningful passes. He always is up there in "hockey assists".

And just because miss a shot or make it (like tonight) doesn't change the fact it was a good pass.

No one is perfect but very rarely in his career, even now, does he take a lot of bad shots. Sometimes he has to bail people out, sometimes its just a bad shot, but the majority of the time it's good looks when he's shooting/driving.

Well, I guess we will have to agree to disagree on this one.

Parker's passing is good on half court sets when he knows where everybody is going to be. When the structure and system helps him. On fastbreak opportunities he always holds onto the ball longer than he needs to. That's because he just doesn't have enough floor vision to identify all the available options. Or now you are also going to deny Tony's lack of passing on fastbreak opportunities?

Your problem is thinking I have some kind of bias just because I'm an Argie. Just go check my posting history and see if I'm a Parker hater.

I don't know what numbers you posted but I have already told you that Tony's passing is good on half court sets when he knows that if he plays a pick and roll certain guy will roll to the basket, another will pop up for a jumper, he will have a guy on the corner 3, etc. But that doesn't mean he has good vision, that means that he's great at running the system. On fastbreaks or broken plays he isn't as effective 'cause he doesn't have the vision to identify all the options in a non-structured scenario.

Bench was money in their second stint :tu

Yup - good to see them rebound. When the starters play like this it doesn't matter much, but it's nice to see the group playing well together.

Just started watching, LMA and Kawhi are balling according to the box scores.

Is TP playing well? He has 15 & 8 on 66%

Best game of the season for him.

Manu's IQ is just fun to watch. Its almost like he's always a play ahead of everybody else. Its pretty awesome to watch.

Seems like the the team is building some chemistry.

A bad loss does some good things maybe.
