Kawhi Leonard is limitless. Honestly. His ability to steady himself and just get things done is unreal. So many special moments. So many big plays. So many narratives going on that he might or might not be aware of. He just stamped MVP on Harden's forehead and Harden was amazing himself.

Execution at the end. The Spurs are possibly the best team at finishing games. The Rockets had a bunch of mistakes, Kawhi played his ass off, and the Spurs still only managed to squeak by. Sucks that we lost, but we are right there with the Spurs and this game just proved that the Rockets are contenders.

Lot's of people chipped in and there was a lot of bad luck too (SA missing some bunnies on great moves, HOU hitting some tough ones).

Spurs played really bad defense in the first half. Really bad. They gave up a lot of rebounds they should not have. LMA played the most disappointing game I can remember from him. But they stuck with it, TP came up big when they needed him and Kawhi just played a superstar game on top of Harden's superstar game.

It looks like they are going in without any scouting report, playing their shit, and then adjusting as they go.
You can see the defense changing after the 1st quarter and throughout, becoming more and more effective.
It's been that way for the past several games, if not more.

Interesting take. But if you're the Spurs that's what you do - play bad defense the first quarter and dig yourself a hole to climb out of. I hope they can clean that up before the playoffs get here.

I'm going to use a term I've never used before - ever. That last 3 by Kawhi was Jordan-esque. That was a must-have possession, and he was just stone cold. No hesitation, and not thought that it wasn't going in. Throw in the block (and his overall defense)?

Doesn't make him Michael Jordan, but that right there is the stuff that a real MVP is made of.

Another thing is Kawhi is doing this shit every single night. He's come up huge in the 4th/OT these last four games. Harden is shooting under 40% since like February and 44% overall. Today was not the norm for him and it still wasn't enough.

Lee, Parker, and Manu were also quite good tonight.. They kept the team in it in the 3rd allowing Kawhi's brilliance to take over late.

LMA was solid down the stretch, still too passive with smaller guys on him, but he's had worse games. Pau struggled (which isn't surprising against this team) and Dedmon didn't play smart. Lee might be the guy against Houston

Q. Kawhi, what was going through your mind on that three-pointer?
A. "Uhhh... just get back on defense and get a stop... uhhh"

I love Kawhi. Any other player would have celebrated that 3-pointer for the lead. Kawhi is thinking about getting back on D. :tu

Coach Nick is a tard though. That was across half-court with at least a tenth of a second left. It's one thing to get it wrong during the game. It's another not to be able to tell that after looking at a video of the replay.

Also was an 8 second violation on Kawhi tbh

They replayed the game, so I recorded it. Just looked at that ending. There were 10.6 seconds on the clock when the Spurs inbounded. The clock started instantly as the ball touched Kawhi's hand. The ball crossed the mid-court line with 2.9 seconds left on the clock. It was well over the line when the clock read 2.8.

It was close. But zero doubt that it was across the line in time. When you slow it down, and can watch the tenths of seconds click off, it's really not even that close. By the time the full 8 seconds elapsed, the ball was way, way over.

I heard Kawhi may have pumped his sneakers up beyond the legal limit. You might want to look into that. There must be some way you can discredit the win. :D

Kawhi absolutely destroyed James Harden, however let's be honest this type of play is not sustainable; Not matter how well he plays, we cannot expect him to keep shooting 80% beyond the 3 point line. Having said that, let me repeat he absolutely destroyed James Harden!

Both scored 39 points, which is a ridiculous numbers for either of them, but Kawhi did it by taking 2 fewer shots. Kawhi had more rebounds, twice as many, more steals and more blocks. Harden had 12 assists with 7 turnovers, Kawhi had 5 assists and only one turnover. That is 6 turnovers for 7 assists, if you think about it. Horrible ratio.

To only worrying fact is that Kawhi had to play inspired basketball and it was a close game till the end, just like our first game. The Rockets will be a tough out in the Playoffs. We literally won the game because of our superior 3 point shooting, that will not be there every night. And they will have their share of playing inspired basketball like we just had.

All the more reason to get the first seed and set the warriors and rockets on a collision course. Yeah, the Clippers have had our number but they look awful now and may not even get past the Jazz. Best case scenario we get the 1, the Clips slip to 6 or 7 and thus the Dubs, Rockets and Clips are all on the opposite side of the bracket. That might mean the Jazz or Grizzlies or even Thunder in the semis, but I'd be OK with that.

I'd love this:

1. Spurs
2. Warriors
3. Rockets
4. Jazz
5. Thunder
6. Clippers
7. Grizzlies
8. Nuggets

she's alright, just realizes how lucky she is to have the show that could and should have been Cassidy Hubbert's. Therefore she feels forced to tow the company line and the company is pushing the Harden/Westbrook for MVP narrative. That is the NBA ESPN wants.

Here - this is on the front page of NBA.com. Why focus on the dumbshits who are talking Kawhi down?

Leonard’s come-from-behind block not only preserved the Spurs' 112-110 victory*-- their eighth in a row -- but should have refocused the race for MVP. For while Harden and Russell Westbrook have been piling up points and ridiculous stat lines since October, it is Leonard who has been relentlessly and ruthlessly constructing an all-around resume that makes him the most complete player in the game.

The local media has really been pushing this narrative lately, but they're doing so with little to no context. This is a historical offensive era in general and season specifically. All kinds of ridiculous counting and advanced stats are being assembled. Rule changes and superior shooting/spacing has given players advantages offensively that those of yesteryear didn't enjoy.

To give you an idea of the extent of the difference between eras, only the Mavericks aren't averaging at least 100 ppg. In Duncan's MVP seasons, in the first, only the Mavericks, Lakers and Magic did and in the second, only the Mavericks, Warriors and Lakers did.

Leonard's usage percentage is also 2 and 3 percent higher, respectively, than Duncan's MVP seasons. Of course, he's also a far superior range shooter, so naturally when you combine all these things, he's scoring more, but I still think Duncan was the better offensive hub.
