View Full Version : Have you realized just how awful Simmons numbers are?

Bro... Bottom line Simmons left because he wasn't respected... He was the one guy that shut down harden in the playoffs... He is more skilled than Danny Green, yet green wasn't benched and put in the doghouse for games on end when he made the same mistakes Simmons used to make... No one wants that

If the Spurs has Simmons And Dedmon this season instead of Joffrey Mills we have 5 less losses this season
THIS
People shit Dedmon and Simmons, but I'd much much rather pay them than pay Mills.

is exactly that, he knew that if he stayed he would have to "prove" every game, while garbage would have time guaranteed
people seem to confuse 'most athletic' with 'best'.

This dude somehow managed to get a -9 on a 9 pts win on 30 minutes of play, while the other four starters of the Magic posted numbers of +15, +12, +12 and + 11. How can that even be possible? :lmao

true but it seemed that Dedmon and Simmons really didn't want to play in the 'soul box', they seem legitimately happier going to worse teams but with more shine. I wish it wasn't the case but the Spurs aren't for everybody. The Hawks are garbage and the Magic aren't much better but they seemed to want to go there. Simmons lost money to get out and it is not like the Hawks showed Dewayne the money. Though not sure how going to the Spurs of the East is much of a difference, maybe he wanted to be higher in the pecking order.

Simmons: 3-13, 1-5 from 3, 2 turnovers, -28
Manu: 2-5, 0 turnovers, +15 :wow

The Spurs were using Simmons like an outhouse tonight. Jon showed some flashes, but he couldn't put it together. I really needed him to produce for my FBB team this week, so it's not great that he looked so bad. But can't have everything.

I'm amused at when ppl cherry pick his bad games...and bring up +/-...on a bad team... Simmons is better than most of the players we have now and we lost out letting him go... Accept the facts

Still better than Patty.
last night was a reminder of why i was tepid to simmons. he makes a few nice plays and you think "this guy is great" and then the announcers mention he is 2 for 11 and you are reminded of just how inefficient he can be.

He is shooting a better percentage from the field than all of our shooting guards... Don't just watch one game against us

Still with that flawed logic I see. :lol
If the only reason for Simmons to have negative impact numbers is because he is in a bad team, then why a guy like Vucevic, a fellow Magic starter, has positive metrics? And why did Simmons posted negative numbers last season on a 60 wins team? You need to look up how these stats work son.

its nice seeing Simmons and Deadman doing good on 2 worst teams in the league. Must be good playing without any pressure all the games.

I'd also rather have those two than the guys we have, but Simmons would be limited here by Pop and would not play like he's playing for the Magic.

he did ... in the playoffs ...
in fact next year possibly without Ginobili and Forbes (I hope) he would be good for the bench (and with a great contract)

Play for Pop and eat bench? he could be a starter on any east team, and here he would be benched because of Danny Green?
Not good for business.
Another athletic guy Pop didn’t want.

According to Simmons they offered Simmons a similar contract but he chose the Magic because of his role. It's obvious now Simmons is only a bench player on a good team but I dont blame him for wanting to get his opportunity. Looks like Magic want to move him and keep Terence Ross. The Spurs should trade for him tbh. His contract is friendly.

Hmm. I guess I remembered the articles wrong. It was definitely a bit ambiguous on what exactly went down but after rereading these articles it looks like Simmons asked the Spurs to pull the qualifying offer to let him be an unrestricted free agent which is why the quote would make more sense. Most were thinking Spurs would resign him but him being 27 or 28 and Spurs not willing to promise him a committed role it looks like he pleaded with them to pull the offer and Pop relented. It probably allowed teams the green light to go after him knowing the Spurs couldn't just match a deal afterwards. Simmons at that price looked like a steal.

well I'm thinking they didn't want to resign him at all, but that's also a possibility. I guess we'll never know

If that were the case, they never would have made the QO.

The Spurs rarely decide against QOing someone who's made it to the end of a contract. I'm having a hard time thinking of one. Obviously, if the team hated him, they would have traded or cut him. But I doubt Jon was actually part of what they wanted to do. Rather, they probably just wanted the option there in case they traded away some wings or had an S&T to work.

If I remember correctly the QO was a laughable, disrespecting number. It was a case of due diligence. They really didn't care if Simmons left, but they had the QO option so they said "what the heck, we know there's no way we can keep him for this price but we wouldn't be doing our job if we don't at least excercise our option".
