The northern Gulf is still relatively warm right now, but by the time this thing gets there 10 days from now... I don't think Wilma will be anything more than a rainmaker.

Manny, why Florida. I'm serious. And why more than a rainmaker. I would have thought the Gulf would be cooling off some since we have a few fronts come thru.

I know you follow these things so I'm not trying to be a smart butt, but would like to know your reasoning.

Once Wilma reaches 25 longitude I feel fairly certain she will strike Florida.

Although more difficult to predict at this time of year because of lower water temperatures and increased shearing, using the same method I used to predict landfall for Hurricane Rita within 100 miles, right now, I have Wilma striking land near Crystal River Florida, N-NW of Orlando if it follows it's current path. If it fails to reach 25 degress latitude it will go into NE Mexico.

Wind shear potential alone could drive Wilma in NE Mexico...
