Virginia State Police: No Weapons Caches Found, Despite Gov. McAuliffe’s Claims


After the horrendous clash between white supremacists and Antifa Communists in Charlottesville, Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe (D) claimed that the police did not break up the fight because of the fact that the Neo-Nazis were so heavily armed that separating the groups would have been explosive.

During an interview with Black Lives Matter activists DeRay McKesson, McAuliffe stated that the police had found weapons caches around the city, and that intervention would have created an even more violent situation,

“They had battering rams and, you know, we had picked up different weapons they had stashed around the city,” McAuliffe told Mckesson. “This was a powder keg. This was a very volatile situation. And I’ll once again say, I am very proud of our team on the ground. Nobody hurt except for those people hit by the car and you couldn’t stop that.”

In an interview with the New York Times, he even made the ridiculous claim that so many of them were armed with semi-automatic rifles, one would think they were an army. However, those comments were later edited out of the story.

So what’s the problem here? Those caches never existed, and the State Police directly contradicted McAuliffe’s claims.

A State Police Spokesperson told Reason Magazine that the police did not find anything to which McAuliffe was referring:

McAuliffe’s comments were picked up by other news outlets and spread through social media. But Corinne Geller, a spokesperson for the Virginia State Police, says that no such stashes were found.

“The governor was referring to the briefing provided him in advance of Saturday’s rally and the extra security measures being taken by local and state police,” Geller tells Reason. “As a safety precaution in advance of August 12, such searches were conducted in and around Emancipation and McIntire Parks. No weapons were located as a result of those searches.”

McAuliffe also claimed that the police were underequipped to deal with the situation, but State Police once again directly contradicted the Governor’s claim.

“The governor was referencing the weapons and tactical gear the members of various groups attending the rally had on their persons. I can assure you that the Virginia State Police personnel were equipped with more-than-adequate specialized tactical and protective gear for the purpose of fulfilling their duties to serve and protect those in attendance of the August 12 event in Charlottesville.”

Geller made a similar statement to The Washington Free Beacon:

“No, the State Police did not have inferior equipment,” Geller told the Free Beacon on Monday. “Our personnel are equipped, and were equipped, with the necessary protective and tactical gear for their safety and, obviously, to protect those that were in attendance of the event.”

This is twice that the Governor has been directly contradicted by the State Police. And despite both times, McAuliffe still insists that the State Police were underequipped for the situation.

“If you see people yesterday walking down the street yesterday with semi-automatic rifles strapped to their body,” he said. “I mean, they had better armor than my State Police and National Guard had.”

State Police would not release the exact details of their armament to the press, but it’s hard to imagine a small group of racist protesters having better weaponry than the State Police and National Guard.

One of the questions that lingers is why it took the troopers and local police so long to dispel the violence.

"He did a lot of what we would call ‘winning hearts and minds’ and embraced reforms which helped end their resistance," said Lance Janda, a military historian at Cameron University. "He fought too, but only when he had to, and only against tribes or bands that just wouldn’t negotiate with him. He wasn’t solely committed to fighting as people like Trump who tell the pig blood story imply."

Another wrinkle: Historians said the premise that the rebels would have been motivated by a fear of pigs is not as certain as Trump suggests. It’s unclear how religiously observant the insurgents were and whether such a policy would have made a difference in their actions.

Christopher Einolf, a professor at DePaul University and author of America in the Philippines, 1899-1902: The First Torture Scandal, added that he trusted the conclusion of the late military historian Frank E. Vandiver, who told About.com in 2003 that "I never found any indication that it was true in extensive research on his Moro experiences. This kind of thing would have run completely against his character."

Indeed, other historians noted that Pershing pursued a less brutal approach to "pacifying" the rebels in the southern Philippines than Leonard Wood, one of his predecessors.

"He did a lot of what we would call ‘winning hearts and minds’ and embraced reforms which helped end their resistance," said Lance Janda, a military historian at Cameron University. "He fought too, but only when he had to, and only against tribes or bands that just wouldn’t negotiate with him. He wasn’t solely committed to fighting as people like Trump who tell the pig blood story imply."

Another wrinkle: Historians said the premise that the rebels would have been motivated by a fear of pigs is not as certain as Trump suggests. It’s unclear how religiously observant the insurgents were and whether such a policy would have made a difference in their actions.

"The Moros were fighting for a lot of reasons, not just because they were Muslims," Janda said. "This is another fact that gets lost in many modern discussions of terrorism."

Trump said that Pershing stopped "radical Islamic terror" for 35 years. Of the eight historians we checked with the first time we heard Trump speak about Pershing, all were at least skeptical that the specific tales of Pershing actually took place, and some expressed disbelief even more forcefully than that.

PayPal Just Gave Devastating News To White Supremacists Responsible For Charlottesville

The internet money transfer giant, launched at the turn of the century and pioneered by Elon Musk, has decommissioned the accounts of the white supremacist groups that planned the deadly “Unite the Right” event.

The civil rights group Color of Change told CBS that PayPal confirmed (http://thehill.com/policy/technology/346882-paypal-suspends-accounts-associated-with-charlottesville-organizers) that the hate group Unity and Security for America has been totally cut off for their part in spearheading the Charlottesville carnage.

Antifa Protesters Arrested in Chicago After They Attack Cops Outside Courthouse


Three members of Antifa were arrested Wednesday night after they tangled with Chicago police outside of a courthouse on the city's northwest side.

The "protesters" were clad all in black with black bandanas covering their faces. They claimed to be there to demonstrate against a man facing arraignment inside the courtroom, who they said had ties to "white supremacist" and "right wing" groups.

But what started out as a run-of-the-mill leftist rally featuring the same, old, tired, scripted chants ("Racist, sexist, anti-gay, Neo-Nazis go away!"), ended in a melee after Chicago police showed up to try to contain the demonstration. Protesters had wandered away from public property and blocked an intersection, making notoriously terrible Chicago traffic even worse for innocent bystanders, and causing havoc for local residents.

When law enforcement showed up, they found themselves in a tussle with the "anti-fascist" protesters, who used epithets like "pig" to entice Chicago police into a brawl. After police easily subdued their leftist attackers, three were led away in handcuffs.

Charges have yet to be issued against the protesters; police say they are still investigating what prompted the incident — because while the identity of the offending "white supremacist" they were protesting is unknown, lawyers for several defendants arraigned yesterday say none of their clients have ties to neo-Nazi groups or the alt-right, and that no one hauled into court yesterday is being charged with a crime related in any way to a racist, sexist, or anti-gay incident. So pretty much everyone remains confused.

Antifa did come prepared for their arrest, though, and while their colleagues were being shoved to the ground and handcuffed, they chanted "cops and Klan go hand-in-hand" and unfurled a crudely-painted banner likening Chicago police to the KKK.

If they did get it wrong, this is the second major mistake Antifa has made in the past 48 hours. First, they managed to vandalize a statue in Atlanta that they thought was a monument to the Confederacy, but was actually a "peace statue" designed to promote a sense of healing in post-Civil War Georgia. Now, it seems they probably got their dates or details wrong, and attacked a bunch of cops — something law enforcement doesn't exactly appreciate — over an imaginary neo-Nazi offender.

If we were betting people, we might just say that these so-called "anti-Fascist protesters" don't exactly have a top notch operation or, for that matter, a firm grasp on the Internet.

Ridiculous as they are, the trouble with Antifa is that they're not only persistent in their attacks — and have no qualms about using violence, fomenting disorder, and attacking law enforcement — but that these sort of incidents go completely unnoticed by mainstream media. While CNN, NBC, and others focus on the dastardly threat around 200 alt-right figures and neo-Nazi marchers pose to the very fabric of our country, Antifa is racking up quite the rap sheet.

That's not to say the alt-right or others should get a pass — after all, their "peaceful" rally in Charlottesville became a melee that ended up with a murder committed by one of their own. But its becoming impossible to ignore that the "anti-fascists" that the left has beatified over the past several days is no benevolent force, that will contain their violence to Richard Spencer-led rallies.

Here’s MORE proof that Trump was right to blame “both sides” for the events in Charlottesville.

ZeroHedge discovered a Craigslist ad posted a week before the Charlottesville protests from a company called “Crowd Hire,” recruiting “actors and photographers” at $25 an hour.

This is now raising big questions over how these paid protesters were used as agitators in counter protests.

We’ve seen this same tactic used by the left for months, both before and after the election, to gather large crowds of paid protesters and agitators in order to riot and cause chaos.

Many of these paid protesters are directly funded by none other than George Soros.
Now, the discovery of a craigslist ad posted last Monday, almost a full week before the Charlottesville protests, is raising new questions over whether paid protesters were sourced by a Los Angeles based “public relations firm specializing in innovative events” to serve as agitators in counterprotests.

The ad was posted by a company called “Crowds on Demand” and offered $25 per hour to “actors and photographers” to participate in events in the “Charlotte, NC area.” While the ad didn’t explicitly define a role to be filled by its crowd of “actors and photographers” it did ask applicants to comment on whether they were “ok with participating in peaceful protests.” Here is the text from the ad:
