son if I were you i'd pray not to get madrid in the UCL. they let 'em play more physical ball than in la liga and that favors them mightily. They also are better winners in tough matches than barca, who just win on talent and superior play. If they meet I'm betting real tbh.

Junentus is a very bad matchup for Tottenham IMO. Their defense is too solid, they are smart, and they are endlessly patient. I'd rather they have drawn PSG
Hope im wrong.

We gone.

And deservedly so. Trippier and Davies on the wings.... Nope.
Walker and the old Danny Rose, yep. One is gone the other is going to be gone.
Llorente, Rose, and Lamella will go elsewhere. We got to find speed on the wings other than crazy Aurier.

Kane, Eriksen, M. Demblele, Vertoghen up the middle have all had strong seasons. Deli Ali has had a tough year but I think he's a tough kid. Need more speed and ability to attack than Davies and Trippier. They would not play on any other CL team.

Rooting for Bayern/Heycnkes to win the CL, but I don't want them anywhere near Madrid and Big Dick Naldo, tbh..:(

Real have been too clutch and lucky in the Champions League in the last half decade— they play in Europe with far much purpose than they do in La Liga, and Ronaldo is such a Bayern killer.

Even if you're Barca— a superior team throughout 2017-18 — you would rather take on them over 2-leg tie in the QFs/SFs instead of a winner-takes-it-all Final with a historic CL three-peat on the line for Madrid.

Big competitions finals have hardly followed any logic in 90 minutes when both teams are more or less of the same pedigree. Season form goes out of the window on such occasions and more so when it is two clubs from the same country (that shit always gets decided by the thinnest of margins see Juve-Milan '03, United-Chelsea '08, Bayern-Dortmund '13, Atletico-Real 14-'16 etc..)..

big words tbh. Real madrid is a typical cup team : talented, experienced, clutch as fuck, no fucks given attitude, physical and dirty. no manager would want to see them, and they definitely won't get rocked.
imo barca is far too arrogant if they think they'll walk over madrid, and they've given me this feeling all season.

Ruthless for my poor team.
Kinda what I was afraid of.

Trippier just fell asleep. When two teams are fairly even, go with the old pros.
Will we ever win any sort of cup again.... Probably not. But it's fun trying. Off to give the FA cup a try. The EPL is MC. Pep has done a wonderful job.

disagree, he is an excellent forward who shines at tottenham because he has good service. His weakness is that he is a natural box forward so he needs good service and that he doesn't seem to be strong mentally. Other than that he has aerial play, finishing with both legs, underrated quickness, very good strength and size, pragmatism (no cute shit), has good fake runs, very good positioning, hard worker, .. Imo one of the best talents england has produced since paul scholes. Too bad that he plays for england, he would've been a very good option for a NT which can provide consistent service (germany, spain, france). Not sure if he is real madrid material, as that lockerroom is imo too toxic for him.

Hope is a thing that keeps people who root for teams who have won nothing going. And we gave em a good warmup match. Except our wings could not press them offensively. Unless you have a congenital heart disease, which is widespread in regions of Africa and led to many athletes/soccer players dropping dead prematurely, i don't see how a fully healthy, top level athlete in his physical prime suddenly dies of a heart attack in his sleep unless they are abusing some kind of substance and shit just went wrong..

It was more about what City did to lose the game rather than what Liverpool did to win it. Stones was directly responsible for two of those goals (he's since been benched) and Ederson was directly responsible for the decisive goal with a very poor clearance. Aguero's game tying header sailed inches past the right crossbar. A 4-3 defeat is what you call total destruction?

They also came off playing Chelsea

When Madrid played Man City two years ago it was part of the, so called, "easy" route Madrid had. :wakeup

I just hope Sevilla puts a good fight against Bayern, same for Liverpool.

You guys had an injured man city in the semi finals whereas we had to face them as reigning EPL champs in round of 16.

Jodelo, I’ll also be the first to tell you that I bitched like crazy with Madrid’s 2016 run, however you guys went through an absolute gauntlet last year and this year in fairness you had a tough group and tough opponents in back to back knockout rounds.

I have a weird feeling that this is going to be the season our teams meet each other in CL, the question is whether it’s the semifinals or the finals.

son I already bet on penaldo & co way back in december when it was obvious that they would turn the ship around. They're a classic cup team : super-talented, super-experience, thugball champs and no oder objectives. Even with the bad draws you know these niggas will somehow win.

It will be difficult for Madrid to win Juve another time, but they have done that with Atlético. Another small advantage is that the second leg is at the Bernabéu. So it's not out of question, but it's far from sure.

As a matter of fact, people give little chance to Roma or Sevilla, but they could obviously pull out a surprise. I mean, who would bet Roma was to leave Atleti out of the Champions or that Sevilla would eliminate Moi's United.

Basically, at this stage there are no weak teams. It's just few games anyone could win.

That being said, Barça is showing outlandish consistency. The only way they lose this Champions is a sudden dip in form.

Barca is still lacking a bit in attack, and it was a bit worrisome how kuany pockets of space hey have to Chelsea but they are still one of the best defensive sides in Europe.

If Dembele can continue to get comfortable that can allow Barca to play a 4-3-3 and get some width but again, I do worry that they struggle to create chances at times.

They did a 4-4-2 in the first leg against Chelsea and looked horrible in attack, they couldn't generate anything outside of a mistake from Chelsea despite dominating possession.

I know Chelsea had to be more aggressive in the second leg due to the away goal, but having that extra winger was massive for them.

It felt like they started off as a 4-3-3 but I'll need to watch again. I do think they reverted to a 4-4-2 once Paulinho came on.

The issue with Dembele is that he leaves a lot of space behind him since he's so new but his tackl eon Alonso was incredible.

What do you make of Barca's chances against Man City if they were to play each other in CL?

Barca played:

Ter Steven

Roberto Piqué Umtiti Alba

Dembele Rakitic Busquets Iniesta

Messi Suárez

Just think of this: if they played 4-3-3, who played as a left winger? Messi and Suárez certainly didn't.

What do you make of Barca's chances against Man City if they were to play each other in CL?

Horrible offside call took away 2-0 City lead....now it's a wrap
Yeah, but City lost the tie when they couldn't score away..You gotta do it in those same-country match-ups. There is technically no travel disadvantage but the rules still count..

Missed the first half but i guess Roma ran like crazy, pressed high. Getting tired at some point and lack of concentration, which will result in a mistake and a goal.

Barca deserves this shit. Everytime they play away on the Champions League they play without even looking at the opposite goal. They are content with tiki-taking on midfield. That's not how you win the CL. You have to score away goals.

His lack of answer to what was happening on the pitch was a character teller. He should have ripped his players a new asshole on halftime and have made a substitution right away. Get Dembele in there for Semedo and tell them to go get that goal.

Too many gutless coaching performances from Barca post-2012. Outside 2015, this team has been Spanish PSG at the CL knockout stage ever since.

Yeah the core have started to decline, but they haven't found the guy who could balance it with the right tactics in these type of matches..

Really hard to make drastic tactical changes with Barca considering their players

They need to spend a few million dollars and aqcuire a versatile CMF ala Xavi next year specially with Iniesta getting older.

Xavi was such an underrated all around player..Decent positional defending etc. Coutinho is not that guy.

Again at this point its hard to make any tactical changes and Imo probably their downfall...
