Dodged one there. Got out of two back-to-back bases loaded situations with minimal damage. Wonder if it's a "win" for the Yanks, though, since the Sox had to burn a few bullpen arms?

No doubt they're now the underdog in this series less than a game in. They used 6 different pitchers in an inning to get like 2 or 4 outs.
And tonight, Yankee's bitch David Price will be pitching. I'd be surprise if he lasts 3 innings honestly.
how the Red Sox haven't fix their bullpen issues by now is beyond me. it's been a thing for the last oh 4 straight years now.

Jesus fuckin' Christ. Beyond irritated. 2 on, no outs, 3-0, and you strike out 3 straight times to end the game. Most of my ire is directed at fuckin' Machado. One of the worst ABs I've ever seen, and this guy has been nothing but a disappointment since arriving. Same with that fuck Dozier (who also turned into a terrible AB). 1-12 now in the ALDS. I can accept 1-12 if you're grinding out ABs and working counts, but it seems all you have to do is throw it in the dirt and Machado chases.
Dodgers don't have the fortitude to win the WS. The lineup after Turner simply blindly swings for the fences (Puig has improved at least). When Bellinger, Machado, Grandal are up in high leverage situations, I basically count it as a K.

How's the farm system looking? Kluber, Carrasco, Clevinger, and Bauer plus Lindor, Zimmer, and Ramirez is a great core. If the farm system has a couple of bats and arms, you're right there again. Eventually, Kluber will find it again in the post-season. I don't think there's a need to go full rebuild. Players like Lindor and Kluber don't come around very often.

I don't mind the Astros, despite last year, but the only drawback of them being successful is that teams will start copycatting their roster building strategy and start tanking for picks (that has historically never worked and still won't work. Astros aren't the exception that prove the rule. They just had the perfect storm of all of their prospects developing into star level players, something that rarely happens). I don't want end of the season of baseball looking like the NBA.

The organization is strong. This is a good organization. But when they come out and play the way they did in this series, you can't help but wonder if this group has shot its bolt. I don't want to take any credit away from the Astros, who IMO are the best team in the game no question, but the Indians embarrassed themselves in this series. I don't trust this group of players anymore and frankly, I'm not sure I trust Tito anymore either. Every move he made in these last two postseasons has blown up in his face.

:lol Fan of the team who was raped in game 7 of the World Series last year praying for Boston to stop the Astros from going back to the world series. Houston is a terrible matchup for Boston. Their bats are much more diverse and their pitching is far better especially this year in their bullpen. The Astros have a killer instinct now too. Boston is beyond fucked against Houston in a series.

I don’t see it. The Astros would force Boston to go to their shitty bullpen early and often. Boston’s starters are not very good outside of Sale (who is the Kershaw of the AL in October.) Boston’s bats are better than the Yankees easily. I can see Boston winning 1 at home, and that would be it. They really don’t have the team to “push” the Astros this year. The Astros starters/bullpen are far superior than theirs and would limit Boston’s strength...their offense. On the other end, the Astros bats would dominate Boston’s pitching from top to bottom. This team is a major problem for Boston in every possible way.

Uh oh. Cora is taking a step backwards today. Benching Holt for the corpse of Ian Kinsler. I understand analytics is informing the decision since Holt is weak against lefties, but you don't bench a guy who had one of the best playoff games of recent memory for past his prIme Kinsler. We'll see how it plays out.

It could also work the other way. Holt had an out of nowhere game that could or not have been a fluke.
I dont think he could replicate what he did last night if he tried 100 times. But then again, he'd probably produce more than Kinsler at this point.
Tbh, I'm more worried about the pitching. Mook, JD and Benintendi can produce enough runs to win the game.
BTW, the Yankees are in a tight spot. I read---or heard from Michael Kay himself that Sebathia might not even last more than a couple of innings. We'll see how the first inning goes.

The sox have a stacked lineup. The last 2 games showed why this team won 108 games. if their starters could just go deep, it would solve a lot. Once again, the bullpen reared it's ugly head.

The biggest moment in that game (for me) was Bregman's AB with 2 outs/2 strikes in the 5th against Kershaw (at 2:02).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=7371&v=iZ9DE6POdzw
I could watch that AB and never get bored (even though my team was on the negative side of it). Kershaw gets gifted a call on the first pitch outside, and usually when that happens, it's game over for the hitter. All the pitcher has to do is work more and more away and the hitter has no choice but to chase, since he doesn't want another outside pitch called a strike. I don't know how Bregman took that second pitch. Superhuman discipline. He fights for 10 pitches and draws a walk, leading to the Altuve game tying bomb. Bregman is special. Should be in the MVP running next year.

Yankees

You also left out how Braves haven’t won a single playoff series since 2001.

Unlikely. Baseball is unique because of the player demographics and the process to acquire young talent outside the draft. Essentially one-third of the league is undrafted, international players. That goes beyond just regular, average players. Nearly one-third of the all-stars this season were international guys. Three of the top five AL MVP players last season were international, including the winner Altuve. Currently, the top four prospects in minor league baseball, Guerrero, Tatis, Jimenez, Robles, are all international signees.
Because of that international resource and how international players are acquired as 16 year old signees in Latin America and the posting process in Asia, the draft is not as vital to organizational progression and improvement as it is for other sports like basketball and football. Teams don’t need to tank for the draft to get lucky. Heck, Atlanta is a prime example this season. While they’ve been bad for a couple years, their surprise ascent this season wasn’t because of top 5 draft picks. It was the development and emergence of their international kids Albies and Acuna.
Astros aren’t a blueprint many teams are going to copycat or need to copycat anyway. Some teams will just be bad and get a bunch of consecutive high picks simply because they’re bad organizations led by bad front offices. But it’s not a blueprint.

"Clutch" is not getting hit by pitch when pitcher has you two outs in the 9th and nobody on with a lead. Are you saying he somehow enticed Jansen to hit him? :lol He didn't.
Likewise the Altuve bomb, while he smacked it fair and square 400+ ft, reliever has just gotten thru delivering a meatball inside that Altuve crushed for a foul ball. All at bat long he had pitched him outside as Altuves swing is notoriously more suited to inside pitching. Talking heads even picked up on it before the at bat. Again, it's like Baseball 101 there to continue to go outside and away and not try to go inside, esp belt high. Especially after you one pitch before lucked out when the same pitch resulted in a rocket bomb was foul.
Great smack by Altuve. Moronic gift by Dodgers reliever.
Dodger IQ that series was short bus.

2018 Dodgers just really aren't built for deep playoff baseball. Lucky they got an upstart Braves team that was a bit over their heads. This launch angle, uppercut swing, homer or bust gameplan the Dodgers built themselves around is too easily shut down by good pitching. Dodgers have zero speed, don't pressure with baserunning, don't string together hits to build rallies, and can't play small ball worth a shit. In any event, if the Brewers do advance, I hope the Sox or Astros annihilate them. Can't stand "bullpenning" teams where teams just ask their starters to throw 5 to get to the pen. I think it's bad for baseball since it robs late game action.

Both these teams have similar styles. All or nothing batting approaches and overuse bullpens. If I weren't a Dodgers fan, I'd want them to lose because I detest this reductive analytical approach to baseball that values homeruns above else while shrugging off strikeouts as "just another out." Batters striking out kills you in the playoffs. Always has. But these calculator head dipshits that run most modern FOs only consider the regular season. I think Houston's FO is ahead of the curve, because they seem to build for both styles of play. Red Sox as well. Both those teams put an enormous amount of stress on pitching by working deep into counts and putting the ball in play. Dodgers and Brewers just go for the big blast and fall back on their bullpens to hold.
This could be the dam breaking moment.

Either team will get eaten alive. Astros and Sox play baseball. Dodgers and Brewers play homerun ball. Both teams have similar batting metrics across the board. Homerun dependent to go along with tons of Ks. Poor situational approaches. Lack of versatility. Etc.

Dodgers ready to create rings after Game 4. Setting up for Brewers Game 6 & 7 steal.

Saw that coming a mile away.
Big balls AB by Bellinger. That breaking ball that breaks low and in on him does him like 99.99% of the time. Really disciplined to lay off of it 3 times straight to get back into the count. I figured he was mince meat after 1-2.

And tomorrow, it's Kershaw on the mound with the series tied. Will he add another to his arm's length of chokes?

:lol The Sox in general having to deal with Houston. They are the Astros bitch. They are outmatched in every aspect of this upcoming series. Don’t expect any incompetence from Houston. Boston’s fluky magical regular season ends the next round.
:rollin
Both Nunes and Kinsler are out for game 4. Devers and Holt in.
Thank you.

After a walk to Bellinger, Counsell lifts Miley after five pitches in the first inning.
Whole new definition of “bullpenning.”
This is going to be a bad game for the Brewers. lol
New guy in already drilling players.

Give an error to the Mil 1B too.
Easily could have knocked that ball down.
Finally a game where the Dodgers have a relatively dominant game. My nigga midnightpulp must be feeling high tonight. :lol

Gasp! Fundamental baseball?
Turner just puts bat on ball with runners on 2nd and 3rd and only one out. Did not go for 5 run HR.
Result, rbi single up the middle.

Kersh with a gritty fucking effort there. Hope they close out the crew in game 6 so I can just relax and watch the rest of the postseason with caring who wins.

No good angle to see if was fan interference but in any event, Betts brought the ball into the field of play, so it would've been a double.

Pathetic by the MLB. Salivating at a certain possible World Series matchup.

Looks like clear fan interference from this angle.

^^^ look where the guy in the white shirt left hand is on the railing and how his right hand is reaching out into the field of play. If he kept his right hand in the stands, it would have to positioned another 45 degrees to his right. The other fan's hands are in the same general area as his hand.

Very clearly fan interference. Also, :lol karma for cheating.

Just head to Twitter. Plenty of gifs and videos showing at least 3 dudes reaching for Betts glove. They came into contact with it.

MLB should just cancel the NLCS and declare this the WS.
midnightpulp why are you dick riding the Astros so hard tonigh? Lol
This Astros team is totally not the same we’ve seen all year. Conversely, Red Sox are not the same team from the Yankees series either.
They are are playing at a super elite level right now. Pitching problems and all.
