If Pop wanted to shut down Kawhi, he could have done so already.

Kawhi could have come out and shut himself out for the year if he wanted too.


Only thing I can assume is that he still wants to play and Pop is letting him try to get back for the rest of the Playoffs.

Poop is throwing a bone to Kawhi but it's no use. It's looking likely that he'll hide in New York for the rest of the series, collect his paycheck, and run for the hills.

His teammates all but begged him to come back. He then got on a plane went to New York and hasn’t been heard from since.

Anyone one from that party has the option to end the season for Kawhi. And yet, it hasn't. Very strange.

This is SA doing Kawhi a big PR favor. He’s not coming back; never intended to. The Spurs gave him the out by saying it’s cool to be in NY and by not ruling him out. It gives them a thing to point to in order to diffuse the situation some and to shield Kawhi from any media responsibility
