I'm planning some pilgrimage games to see Manu in his last season.

The last of an era still in a Spurs uniform. It will be a sad day when he retires...if he hasn't already. Hopefully Parker can still finish here, even if it's just mentoring off the bench. We've used a 15th roster spot on worse.

There was a study some years ago on longevity. Researchers visited many countries, queried the oldest members, looking for parameters that correlated with longevity.

After looking at a huge variety diet contents, alcohol, exercise or lack of, weather, altitude, water proximity, etc, etc,

the only variable that was common to all the oldies was a "sufficient" amount of quality sleep their entire lives, not just night sleep, but daytime napping.

Another sleep angle:

Some California kids were complaining to Maharishi that TM didn't seem to make any difference, except they were sleeping better, to which Maharishi said something like "You're sleeping is improved because TM is givin you improved waking hours"

How many hours is sufficient Sir?

'Uno Mas Manu' billboard goes up to honor one of San Antonio's most-beloved Spurs

George Salinas, a local injury attorney, has the billboard near Interstate 35 and New Braunfels Avenue under contract for his firm. With media reports swirling about Kawhi Leonard's questionable absence and the Spurs' future, Salinas wanted to step in and remind fans of Ginobili's contributions to the team and community before it's too late.

"I just thought that what was lost in all of that was the twilight of one of our most beloved Spurs, no one was really talking about that," he said. "No one ever wants to see him leave. We've seen he still has some fuel in the tank."

Thanks. Maybe he's just marveling that two decades have passed, not doing a career reflective because he's going to retire.

Wow. this forum turns so amateur with comments like the ones above.

Hope this guy come back for one more year but like Duncan before him, he may not want that silly farewell tour Kobe had. No way anyone can expect him to play 2 more years. Maybe retire and just be an assistant for a year I would still be ecstatic.

I remember the Express-News came out with a report earlier this summer that Kawhi was expected to sign a contract extension. If Manu retires, this would be the second time they gave Spurs fans false hope.

I'm half and half. I still see the desire and the passion for the game, but his body just doesnt do what his mind wants him to do anymore. He lays the ball up now by barely getting past scrubs who a young Manu would demolish in a blink by slamming on them. It's sad some days to see him try and play and realize he just can't. While other days hes just amazing. I know its old age, but I dont want the wheels to fall off like we saw when timmy retired (limping and barely able to walk never mind run).

Spurs lost their Franchise player due to the subversive meddling of outside forces beyond the Spurs' Organization control (Uncle Dennis' personal selfishness, and the Sutton Brothers' personal greed). TBH they should be penalized but the NBA will simply look the other way.

I hope that he could be back, not as a regular rotation player but more on a mentor role and occassionally adsorb couple of minutes at SF. There is too many young players this year. He could sub into the second unit on nights where the team is too excited or overrun by opponent to calm them down and provide a stabilising effect

I think Manu will retire. It's almost September already, he's tweeting pictures about where his career started 20 years ago, and he'll still get paid 2.5 mil by the Spurs next year.

Agreed - some guy from Philly has no business in San Antonio working for the SAEN. He had an agenda all along. Not a good person. The paper hired some girl from California who couldn't get back to CA soon enough. Went back to the northern CA s***hole instead of the southern CA s***hole.

"I was actually with and had the actual chance to play with him (Ginobili) in San Antonio," said the co-captain of the BIG3's 3’s Company. "There's not enough to describe Manu."

Ginobili is reportedly leaning towards retirement after 16 NBA seasons. With opening day of training camp just weeks away, an official decision will come soon as to Manu's NBA future.

But whether or not this is it for the 4-time NBA champion, he has left a huge mark on the franchise, the league and on Gooden who simply calls him a "winner".

"I would say a magician, a winner and tough as nails," said Gooden when asked to describe Ginobili.

Said Gooden, "Being able to see the things he could do in such a short period of time, I know why he will be a future Hall of Famer."
