GWB didn't let Citibank vet Obama's cabinet, nor did he force Tim Geithner on him.

Obama owns the bailout; the decision not to prosecute tens of thousands of discrete financial felonies was the decision of his appointee Eric Holder.

IMHO this fact alone is one of the big reasons a pseudo-populist charlatan is President today.

And an even more in bed with big corps/special interests GWB would have spat in the face of the banking industry? Who would have done differently as a politician elected to the highest position on Earth?

No one coddled the . 01% harder than Obama.

When the system of payment was about to fail, he saved the fraudulent financial sector that caused the insolvency instead of the people hurt by it.

Obama is a piece of shit for having a financial team stretching from Goldman to Sachs after running against those assholes in his campaign, but it was still Paulson who wrote that horrific deal. Not that I'd have any confidence in Obama to write something better since he shielded instead of prosecuting the criminals in our financial industry who crashed our economy.

2. concentration in BigFinance meant too big to fail, or to jail (unless you were Jewish, French, South Asian)

Washington (CNN)Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham says President Donald Trump now understands what is at stake in Syria and has agreed to slowing, for now, his plans to immediately withdraw all US troops from Syria.

"After discussions with the President and (Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Joseph) Dunford, I never felt better about where we are headed. I think we're slowing things down in a smart way," the South Carolina Republican said, adding later: "I think we're in a pause situation where we are reevaluating what's the best way to achieve the President's objective of having people pay more and do more."

It’s remarkable how much the establishment controls everything. There’s little to no media backlash against Trump for fucking with Obamacare or giving tax cuts to the rich or increasing defense spending beyond the already ridiculous level it was at, since all 3 of those are things that help the rich, but the second he does something the establishment doesn’t agree with (pull troops out of a country we have no business being in), THAT becomes the big travesty that CNN throws a hissy fit over.

IMO Syria is a tough call given that we only had 2,000 troops there and it seemed like the region was stabilizing, but if the combination of Russia/Assad can stop ISIS from overtaking the region again then I don’t mind the troops being withdrawn. Trump’s platform that we need to stop wasting money being the world police is intellectually dishonest given that he’s given more handouts to the MIC since he became president, but doesn’t mean that pulling troops out of Syria in and of itself is the wrong move.

Id also like to see him follow through on reducing our presence in Afghanistan. We’ve been there way too long and if we haven’t stopped the Taliban from overtaking the country by now we’re never going to.

800 US bases garrisoning the planet, the MIC pocketing $100Bs in warprofiteering to make the planet safe for BigCorp's plundering, eg, US military protecting US extractions of rare earths, metals from Africa (NOT fighting terrorists)

President Tulsi couldn't stop that shit. The American corporate/military planetary, war-profiteering empire is fundamental to America's self-image and wealth.

Trump is actually tailor-made for the establishment, tbh... whereas they should’ve had to negotiate social programs for handouts from Shillary, Dennison basically gave them the same with the added bonus that he can outright lie blatantly AND command the media narrative through that.

He’s such a simpleton, so much easier to manipulate, tbh. They cleaned out Bannon early, and surrounded him with Tillerson, Mattis... too easy.

What I find astounding is that he reacts to being told he is not keeping promises when he is an outright liar and completely fd up health care, which he had the biggest bestest plan for (promise).

a further indication that the process is being slowed down.

On a trip to Israel and Turkey, he said he would seek Turkish assurances that Kurds in northern Syria would be safe.

This is a dumb question. There's nothing about it to believe in. It's not a specific promise, it's a tagline. And it's certainly not something you'd ever find me repeating or hashtagging. So no, I didn't, and it's unrelated and irrelevant to Trump loyalists' fealty to his slogans.

Your inability to follow along with simple conversations is probably a severe limitation for you in life.

I'm not giving advice on what Trump's slogans should be. I'm saying his lemmings are idiots for continuing to repeat his #DrainTheSwamp mantra despite repeated examples of him doing the opposite.

How Obama's campaign slogan, which to my knowledge was never gleefully chanted and repeated by his voters after the campaign the way Trump's taglines are, is in any way related to this is a mystery to me. Obama was a big disappointment in a lot of areas, and effective in others. You'd be hard pressed to find me or anyone else on this forum shielding his flaws with hopey changey mantras and nothing of substance. Try if you want, though.

Turkey Slams U.S. Request for Assurances on Syrian Kurds

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan accused the U.S. national security adviser of making “a very serious mistake” Tuesday

by demanding that Ankara guarantee the safety of Kurdish fighters in northeastern Syria before the U.S. withdraws its troops from the war-torn country.
A strained morning of negotiation in Turkey ended without assurances of protection for forces that fought alongside U.S. troops against the Islamic State group, and indeed brought them fresh new threats from Turkey.

The diplomatic setback raised fresh questions about how the U.S. would protect its allies

in the fight against IS and about the pace of the drawdown of U.S. forces in Syria.
“John Bolton has made a very serious mistake. We cannot make any concessions in this regard,” Erdogan said

Trump Warns U.S. ‘Will Devastate Turkey Economically if They Hit Kurds’ in Syria

the United States will “devastate Turkey economically” if the country attacks Kurdish fighters in Syria.

In a Sunday evening tweet, the president wrote that he is “Starting the long overdue pullout from Syria while hitting the little remaining ISIS territorial caliphate hard, and from many directions.”

“Will devastate Turkey economically if they hit Kurds,” Trump continued. “Likewise, do not want the Kurds to provoke Turkey.”
