They couldn't find a better defensive strategy with Durant out? Just play some fuckin' D and you win. You knew if the Warriors could keep the game close they would win. Nothing shocking here. Houston playing their part as expected. What a sad team.

I'm disappointed even those I don't care about this game much. Rockets just beat themselves - probably are PROs at beating themselves

I expected much more from this series - but it started like shit right from game #1 when they just complained not getting fake calls

For a rockets fan this is like watching ATL for the last 20 years

Crazy how thing always work out for GS. Cousins going out was a net gain, because Iggy was off-the-charts phenomenal in this series.

Iggy is the MVP for this series.

How are Rocket fans just not booing the fucking team?

Pretty easy-going forgiving Fanbase I guess. I mean they have great regular season’s and they do have a star player that certainly puts up numbers. But no they are never winning another championship as things stand.

Turning point to me was the chance to go up 9 when they had a 3 on 1 fast break. Instead they blow it looking for a 3, turns into an Iggy 3 on other end and lead cut to 4.

They had a ton of momentum leading up to that sequence.

Yep, but Houston is just conditioned to chuck a three or bust. That's what they live and ultimately die on.

Never forget

"The Golden State Warriors suspended Draymond Green (http://www.slamonline.com/tag/draymond-green) for tonight’s home game against the Atlanta Hawks after he reportedly called fellow All-Star teammate Kevin Durant (http://www.slamonline.com/tag/kevin-durant) a “bitch” during a heated verbal exchange Monday night in Los Angeles."

"Green called Durant a “bitch” multiple times, sources said. In a summarized version, sources said Green shouted, “You’re a bitch and you know you’re a bitch.” The rhetoric, sources said, continued even when Kerr attempted to direct the team’s attention to his whiteboard. But what ultimately led to Green’s suspension, sources said, was a remark in which he dared Durant to bolt in free agency next summer. Durant has a player option for the 2019-20 season, and the Warriors want their superteam intact for the opening of their new arena, the Chase Center, in San Francisco next season.
Green blurted to Durant something along the lines of, “We don’t need you. We won without you. Leave,” sources said."

Malone?

He had monster games against the greatest team of all time

Patrick Ewing if you are picking a guy from that era. Hell, David Robinson couldn't even get to the Finals and Malone defeated the Rockets dream team

Lol prime Ewing was playing with a bunch of scrubs and against the Jordanrefs

Where do the Rockets go now?

Paul's only going to get worse with a 40 mil/year contract..Capela is terrible and still has years left IIRC..

They're just going to run it back again. CP3 will morph into Dallas Jason Kidd. No way they run some gimmick movement bullshit to take the ball out of Harden's hands--double down on him and ISOball, hope he pulls through one time like Dirk in 2011. It's the optimal strategy against Golden State despite what national media idiots have to say about it.

And guess what- Houston was the only team to challenge GSW last year. They were the only team to challenge them this year. They will STILL be the only threat to them NEXT YEAR.

None of the other Western Conference cucks like Denver, Utah, OKC, Spurs, Lakers have a shot. So laugh at Houston all ya want.

Chris Paul is owed 38.5M, 41.4M, 44.2M.

James Harden is owed 37.8M, 40.8M, 43.8M, 46.9M.

Clint Capela is owed 16.5M, 17.5M, 18.5M, 19.6M.

Eric Gordon and PJ Tucker are the only other players with guaranteed contracts next season. Rockets are very limited on what they can do.

I had to double check that boxscore recently. A Spurs team with Jonathon Simmons (:lol) as the team's best playmaker beat a team with Harden, Gordon, Ariza, Beverley, Capela, Lou Williams, etc ... in Houston, in an elimination game, by 39 points :lmao

That game becomes more hilarious as time passes as it becomes increasingly clear how much more talented that Rockets team was ....

The '17 Spurs were that good. Had a real shot at the chip until Kawhi went down.

Houston won the same number of games against them as the Clippers did. The only difference is that Durant stayed healthy for all of our series. We also didn't have a so-called "superstar" and "MVP" on our roster. "Only team to challenge them," my ass.

Second best thing to watching the Spurs win is watching the Rockets lose.

That's nuts. Golden State deliberately injured Leonard, which directly led to him leaving.

Leonard is a once-in-a-lifetime superstar. Spurs are extraordinarily lucky to have a few play for them. We may never again.
Leonard's injury will likely echo through the ages for Spurs fans. That echo was deafening this year, as we were bounced in the 1st round.

Like Timvp said that injury was minor. Uncle Dennis and #2 took out the Spurs and not the Warriors. Think about it if #2 was willing to play out his contract with the Spurs then the Spurs would have had 2 shots to take out the Warriors in the final 2 years of his contract. Don't get me wrong what the Warriors did with Zaza was dirty but if #2 wasn't a douchebag the Spurs would have gotten revenge on them.

The Clippers had to deal with a fully healthy Durant who was putting up new playoff career highs damn near every game, a fully healthy Curry, and the Warriors even had Cousins at first. We had no all-stars and none of the ref help that Frauden and CP0 get every game. Under those circumstances, winning two games at Oracle is more impressive than anything Houston has ever done in the Frauden era.

Jonnyblue19
05-11-2019, 12:23 PM
There was no way Houston would ever win with they way they are constructed. It is basically Harden and 4 spot up shooters, and no matter what Harden will dance around for at least 10 to 14 seconds almost 90% of the time and he will either do is step back 3 or attack the basket with a few seconds left on the clock.

The times that Paul was attacking the basket he was either scoring or lobbing to Capela. The clippers were picking and rolling the Warriors to death and these idiots with 100 times better personal wouldn't do it. And considering Durant got hurt the Warriors lost another 7 footer they had absolutely no interior defense, they should have kept going to the basket.

There was a 3 on 1 fast break and Tucker stopped at the 3 point line didn't shoot and they missed a 10 footer and then the Warriors came back and made a 3 point a 5 point switch right there.

If Durant is out for the rest of the playoffs and the Bucks advance the Greek freak will average 35 against the Warriors interior defense. They are too small to stay with him and if they double him they have enough 3 point shooters to make them pay. And they have actual ball movement.

As much as I wanted the Warriors to fail it was great seeing Houston fail again because they don't play basketball at all.

This didn't age well:

"A lot of people see the wins and losses, but it's the culture of our team," Paul said of the Clippers in the clip. "If you aren't trying to contend with the Warriors, then what are you doing? You know what I mean? … If you aren't trying to contend with them, then what are you doing?"

Honestly not a good comparison. Without a 30 point comeback and Lou going Jordan that game it's an easy sweep. It was a very fluke series for the Clips.

You can just as easily point to "flukes" that went in Houston's favor. KD getting hurt, Austin Rivers actually playing above a G-League level for a couple games, PJ Tucker shooting 48% from three (his career average is 36%), etc. Between KD's calf and Curry's nagging finger/ankle injuries, the Rockets never had to face the Warriors at full strength and they still choked in embarrassing fashion. No excuses for last night's loss when KD didn't play and Curry was scoreless at halftime.

Capela get royally burned on this?

97-97 4 minutes left.
Rocket drives in from arc, pulls up for midrange, fakes shot and passes it to Capella right under the hoop.
Donkey Breath is out of position about 8 feet away. So he does the logical thing and intentionally fouls Capella. Lunges at Cap then hacks his arm. In doing so ball goes off Capella and out of bounds. Foul on Donkey, right?

2008-10 Kobe would have physically pulled injured Durant off the court then proceeded to drive to the paint the rest of the game

Harden is 29 yrs old. Lebron wasn't much different at that age. Just how this new generation is.
