Forget the vax stance.
Just read up on what he's said bout general modern medicine. The man literally cried because he thought that having his elbow surgically repaired was somehow failing/betraying his body. And that was just some of the tamer shit he said.
He's def gonna win 25 slams and go down as the GOAT. But yeah, he's also gonna remain an idiot in other matters.

Look at big man G who can assess his own blood outwardly defying public health recommendations.

Djokovic’s win over Stefanos Tsitsipas in the Men’s Final averaged 439,000 viewers. That was down 36 percent from Nadal’s win last year. It was the least-watched Men’s Final in a decade.
Not surprised. Draw got busted open early and Djoker just can't pull in casuals like Rafa & Fed.

The Spanish kid getting hurt is gonna be very good Imo on all surfaces.
Staying healthy… who knows. Some of these younger guys are not efficient like Federer and Joker.
Nadal is a freak for lasting so long with such stress on body effort. Djokovic is the best athlete among them.
All Imo of course.
Tennis was at its most popular in the 70s Im told. So maybe we were lucky to get 3 enormously strong players in the same time frame.

I think the Spanish kid who played Joker in the semis will give him trouble.
But losing because of leg cramps for a kid that young is strange. He should not have that problem if properly hydrated. Preparation may be lacking.

This kid is really good. He is super fast, and a much better ball striker than his countryman Rafa. Hits a much flatter more powerful forehand without the giant loop.

Djokovic looked tired and the foot work was not good at all.
That being said, he had some fantastic placement on his serves on many big points. It would have been worse if he had not been so precise with his location. The kid definitely needs to improve his service placement. At this time Alcaraz is a superior athlete. But Djokovic has been through so many big long tedious books I think he can beat him. Djokovic is still good enough to rely on his experience to win.... the kid is an athlete with great hand eye skills. And the Harlem Globetrotter skills can also be what can beat him... going for great shots instead of the mundane shots that lead to easy put aways next shot.
If the kid just learns to play a bit steadier he is going to be hell to beat. Especially if he can get that serve right instead of just crushing it. A service winner is as good as an ace. Placement Carlos... Watch the tape.

Djoker always places his serves well, especially when facing break points. It's always been one of his super powers. It was frustrating af to watch when he'd easily save bps against Fed.
Alcaraz grew up mid-match. He dialed it back and played a steadier brand of tennis after that disastrous 1st set. Actually tried to construct points instead of just trying to hit through Djoker. It also helped that Djoker committed some uncharacteristic unforced errors. But that's aging for your.

I agree. But I think part of the thinking was due to Alcaraz feeling a little tired and then doing some splits and remembering his cramps. He stopped going after every damn ball and just played it a bit safer. This is growing up. Alcaraz is a much better athlete than any of the top players. Its all about the head. And getting a more consistently placed serve which is a part of playing smart.
But then again he says tennis is fun beyond winning. so if he wants to put in a show while losing, Im okay with that because his shot making ability is ungodly. Good entertainment.

Probably the best ever. ^ Also checks the box for believing in witchcraft.
Bjorn Borg will never be surpassed in frequency of titles won however.
He retired at 25 yo.
6 French Opens, 5 Wimbledons Completely different surfaces and he handled them both with ease. No player has shown this type of dominance in such a short career.
Back in that day a higher % of people across the world participated in Tennis also. But not a wider number of countries. US, France, Australia, Spain, GB had a huge % of people playing.
Longevity Joker.
Most talented possibly Borg. Those numbers are incredible. Watching old you tubes he was as fast as it gets. Would have been a great Short Stop.
He strung his rackets much tighter than any other player because his ground strokes were so powerful. Most players could not even hit with his rackets.
Sampras was also very dominant and got bored. But he was good only on fast surfaces. Not an all-rounder.

Bingo. Straight sets.
Unseeded; it was a hard way to go. you have to play the number four seed first round, you don’t get away with being average if they are playing good tennis. This would happen a lot more if players were not seeded. You would get really good players losing first round to very good opponents .
Hard to find another player that gave more effort than Nadal in any situation.

Sinner isnt on the level of Novak or Alcaraz,,,,we're gonna have to disagree about Alcaraz beating Novaks record,,,,hopefully I live long enough to see if he does,,,,lmao. This Alcaraz kid is the best tennis player ive seen at this early age in my life,,,,and ive seen a ton,,,,,Novak is the king but there is always someone coming along thats gonna be better. I loved Montana,,,,then came along Brady,,,,and now comes Mahomes,,,,.. Nobody could touch MJ and then came along LeBron,,,,,its the cycle of life in sports. I remember my dad being a huge Pete Sampras fan and when i saw Federer,,,,i told him the Roger was gonna be the greatest ever,,,,,to my dad's dying days, he always said Sampras was the best. Novak beat both our predictions,,,,,but heres comes Alcaraz,,,,im just busting your chops about Novak in this thread,,,Novaks the king until he is passed in titles but I really do think Alcaraz is gonna do things no one else ever has,,,,this dude at 21 is something ive never seen before and i remember Boris Becker coming out of the gate hot like this,,,,
I also thought growing up that Sampras’s 14 grand slams wasn’t going to be broken for a long long time
Alcaraz is an amazing talent, and inarguably better at 21 than any other tennis player at that age. I just think that as amazing as Alcaraz is, for all we know there could be another 2-3 players who are like 14 right now but will be massive headaches for him in the coming years. I mean nobody in 2010 would have predicted Djokovic surpassing nadal and Federer.
It’s like when people say Haaland and mbappe will beat Messi/Ronaldo numbers. They had amazing start to their careers but longevity is a whole other animal.
I do think Alacaraz will finish as a worst case top 4 all time. And should he surpass 24 slams I’ll gladly tip my cap to him.
Also. Interesting you rate lebron over MJ
Hopefully Sundays match is a good one. I think Djokovic is arguably in slightly better form although Carlos had the much harder bracket. Last year’s Wimbledon was a classic

Joker just felt what it is like having a draw that was way too easy.
Just not prepared for the first two sets.
Novax just did not have the time to use his experience. Blown away too quickly to get a rhythm.
The difference in the speed of the players just did not have a chance to be countered by the experience.

Hard court is worse on them knees. Sinner plays much better on hard court as well. Meddy and Alcaraz are not going anywhere.
Sun may have officially set on Nole, tbh.

Alcaraz is something we've never seen before and we're all gonna be treated to his talent for many, many years hopefully. If he wins the US Open and hits 5 slam titles at the age of 21,,,,,lookout,,,,I mean, fuck this dude is unreal. This kid has all the pressure of the tennis world on his shoulders and just defended his Wimbleton title at the age of 21 and took out the GOAT two years in a row to do it and beat him in straight sets and Alcaraz didnt even play his best tennis in the tourney,,,,,he was behind in sets for a few of his matches,,,,,This dude is only gonna get better,,,,thats scary shit.

I would love to see Novak win one more Australian and call it a career,,,,,his Australian Open titles will never be matched just like Nadals French Open titles will never be beat,,,,,,I truly believe they are both unbeatable records like Wilts 100 point game in the NBA,,,,,we'll never see a player score 101 points in a game to beat it,,,

Injury worries will always be around. Imo Alcaraz is having fun using his extraordinary speed and shot making to the point where he has already hurt himself. The guy is very young and can do almost anything so I get it. He needs to lay off some of the over swinging and dangerously chasing down balls. But he is having a blast so it’s very hard to control the youthful vigor.
I don’t think he should worry about the numbers now and have his fun. But if he really wants to stay on top into his thirties he will need to be more careful now. It’s a very difficult thing to do when he is such a great athlete. Also he is not that tall so eventually he will really have to think about serving slower with placement to save his body.
It’s way far out to say anything definite about what he ends up doing imo because of the mental rigor of being on top so early and leaving some of the physicality for later. Because he will get injured again and how he handles this is very hard to predict. But he is good on all surfaces which is huge in trying to chase these records. Borg could not win on the hardcourts regularly and then of course had bad burnout. Alcaraz should probably look closely at Borg’s career and how it ended and why he was unable to make a comeback after he quit.

Its funny you mention that because I'm gonna throw a name out here now and you all might go,,,,fuck, I remember that guy,,,,he was one of my favorite players and he only won 1 slam but that dude gave it his all and chased down every point and was fuckin' incredible and entertaining to watch,,,,,Alcaraz reminds me of him but Alcaraz is this guy times 100,,,,his name is Michael Chang,,,,,If the injury bug doesnt get Alcaraz,,,,I think he's gonna do things we've never seen,,,,TBH.

Dont know much about Chang but Alcaraz is "athletic" in the useful characteristics required in Tennis. His hand eye coordination is very high level. His speed and timing are incredible. His anticipation will get even better over time. And he is now learning how to win on off days. Honestly he might just get bored if he gets too far out ahead. The discipline that is required to see out his ability is enormous. Mentally and physically. Im hoping some other guys like Sinner keep improving so Alcaraz does not get bored. And maybe some new unforseen stars that are teenagers now. These individual sports require so much of the individual. Very unlike team sports where you can help wiin for others competing with you. And even help whole cities become more positive and invested.

Smarter more strategic player won.
Look at the serves. Djokovic serves to spots. Mixes it up.
Alcaraz just slugs it most of the time. And thats just one part of the strategy Joker uses.
And one can say, "Im going to serve to a spot on a particular point", but actually executing the serve with pace was superb by DJokovic.
Now Its really a great athlete who has all the shots against a guy who knows his capabilities and uses them to fit the moment.
Wimbledon was a blowout imo because Joker was not primed (easy rounds up to the final) and injured. He started to get into the match way too late and I dont think he was moving well enough to even win anyway on grass. The slower clay courts allowed for strategy to work and Joker looked much quicker to the ball as well.

I should also add that Djokovic is LONG and uses his length superbly as he does not have the speed of Alcaraz.

too many errors from Alcaraz and might be the worst serving performance from Novak I have ever seen. Maybe they both needed a break. Did not have that on my bingo card at all.

Id like to see Novak win the Australian next year and retire right after it. Go out with a title at the tournament that he dominated. I dont think he has the endurance to do it with Alcaraz and Sinner on the scene but even Tiger Woods squeezed out one more title at the Masters as a swan song late in his career and should have retired right after. So its possible.

Alcaraz wins the 1st set and gets humbled by Sinner. Maybe thats what Carlos needs. Kid hasnt even hit his prime yet and I hope hes not getting an ego. Disappointed he couldnt pull this out but again....kid hasnt hit his prime and has a lot of tennis left to play barring injury. Hats off to Sinner, I thought after the French, Alcaraz was in his head and would be for awhile. These two will win 20+ slams easily.
