So, he doesn't believe in God and he's going to fake it to get basketball?

How do you prove that you've "let God save you"? Just by going to Church?

If he doesn't believe in God, what's the worst that could happen? The preacher gets wise to him? :lol

His "mom" is "Christian" hustler and extortionist.
Play _her_ silly game, because _God_ doesn't do deals.
Without NBA LP, he'd probably praise the Great God Onan 1000 times more during the season. Ali G sez "Idle handz be da devilz workshop". And, he might hit on some chicks at church. When they see a guy at church, they figure he's "pre-qualified" as OK to fuck. Sorta like Chris Rock's idea of picking up chicks at pro-abortion rallies because they are pre-qualified as also pro-fucking.

Is he a Spurs fan? Tell him to fake it every Sunday AM and take the bribe; God will look into his heart, see his duplicity, and send the Pistons to punish his team for his sins.

I'd man up and get a job.
Pistons < Spurs

Yes, because it is only a person's religious beliefs that determine whether or not they will steal.
And I agree with E20.

no... which is why i recomended him that he go... that way i can watch all of the games at his house.. i have bootleg cable witch is why i cant get league pass
Then damn man, I don't get why he can't just go. It's not like it's gonna be rough on him anyway. Spend 2 hours at a church for the chance to WATCH EVERY SINGLE SPURS GAME!

Ok for one thing, if his mom really is a Christian, than she would know that she cant force anyone to "let God save them." For another thing, she shouldnt bribe him to go to Church. And finally, if he is only 14 and she wants him to go to Church (or anywhere for that matter) he still has to listen to her.
They should be able to work something out I hope.

In a weird kind of way, I think the kid's closer to the right path if he turns down his mother's offer and gets a job.
Offering a bribe to go to church defeats the whole purpose. His mother's approach is inane. She may be a "devout Christian," but the lights upstairs are kind of flickering.

aaaaahhahahahahahhaahha, one of the funniest posts i have ever seen :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol
He's 14. He's got a lot of time to decide whether lying to get League Pass is wrong or not. Besides, something as stupid as faking religion to get extra cable will pale in comparison to the first time he comes home drunk, the first time he forges a doctors note, the first time his mom finds out he's not a virgin, and the first time he gets high.
Go for it. One day when his mom is in a home and fakes insomnia to play an extra hour of bingo she'll understand.

What happens if a Spurs game conflicts with church time?

has a 14 year old lived long enough to make any sort of decision about anything like that? i know it's vogue to not believe in god and everything but flaunting atheism is just as bad as being a pharisee. go to church, it may do you some good. if it doesn't, you have the league pass anyway. or just get the nba audio for like 30 bucks.

If in fact the offer from his mom is she will get LP if he goes to church and gets saved, he has a decision to make. It's important to be true to yourself. If he is willing to go to church but isn't so sure about promising the salvation part, then why not make a counter-offer? He can say that he really wants LP and he is willing to go to church and he is willing to listen, but can't promise that he will decide to follow Christ even after all of that. I think she would really appreciate his honesty and this may be enough for her to say "yes" and get LP.
