One minor quibble with the finale, the CGI for that guy was just disappointingly bad. It was fine when he stood still, but when he started talking it looked like that godawful, completely devoid of emotion, fake lip movement Dr Manhattan CGI from the Watchmen film 10 years ago. You’d think Disney would put more money into their only current cash cow to get it right. I mean, that Harrison Ford in Solo deepfake youtube video is 10000000x better :lol

But that’s about 60 seconds of an otherwise fantastic finale.

One of my biggest criticisms of Disney SW so far is their inability to step away from the established stories and do something unique. And look here... we have individual series announced for Obi Wan, Luke, and Boba Fett. Apparently now the consensus narrative is that R5 purposefully sacrificed himself in A New Hope so that R2 would be chosen by Skywalker. What? Where is that ever implied in the movie itself? Why do fans need the story to be anything loftier than "the piece of junk busted an oil gasket right before he was taken?"

is this show any good? I mean, Star Wars hasn't been worth a shit since Return of the Jedi. The prequels sucked, other than Darth Maul, and they killed him off before he could actually make a major impact. Episodes 7-9 sucked. Didn't watch Solo. The spin off Jedi movie was ok, not great. They’re taking it slow because they have a gold mine. Easily can go 7-8 or even 10 seasons. The fact 2 seasons already spun like 3 new shows from within says it all.

R2 is probably one of the things Luke trusts most in the Galaxy, so him leaving Grogu with him makes sense. Makes no sense that Luke makes the mistake that led to the Jedi getting offed to begin with though. The only reason he won in ROTJ was because of his attachments

No resolution, nothing of consequence happens (aside from one death), they straight up copied a bit from TLJ, and you don’t even see the most interesting characters until there’s 2 minutes left. They spent the entire episode setting up Season 2. FINISH TELLING THE STORY YOU’RE TELLING, AND THEN TEASE THE NEXT THING.
