Well if Memphis loses again they'll be out. My question is wouldn't a loss by either the Suns and the Blazers and a win by us put us ahead of them.
Spurs must beat Utah, Suns need to lose to the Mavs and Memphis needs to lose to the Bucks.

Blazers deserve the 8 seed, honestly. Popovich fucked the team over with his Forbes obsession. Oh well
agreed, Blazers with hot-hand Lillard are the best of the worst. Spurs goin fishin
that Mavs guy who fouled on the Mavs game winning 3G probably feels pretty shitty

This play supports my frustration so much-- player went away from defending like __| to __ __ and that is when Lillard shoots... Defending like this __| or |__ doesn't affect your lateral movement...

Ownership is inexperienced(Holt kids) and handed over all those duties to Buford who's currently CEO of the Spurs. Buford is Pop's BFF so they both probably have more power than any other coach/GM in the NBA. They're untouchable.

Memphis and Phoenix play the last game @ 3pm Thursday. If they both win, we’ll pretty much know by the Spurs game time at 5:30 that we didn’t make the play in game. If they do lose, Spurs are in with a win. They’ll be 8th if Portland loses and 9th if Portland wins.

Meant to post this earlier, hasn't seemed to affect the team overall.
CJ McCollum suffered a L3 vertebral transverse process fracture (non-displaced) last Thursday, sources told NBC Sports Northwest.
McCollum, who shot 2-14 from the field on Tuesday against the Mavs, has played three games with the injury.
McCollum hit two free throws late in the Blazers' win against the Mavs.
"One thing that is a part of our relationship and something that makes us have so much belief in each other is -- he knows that I have unwavering confidence [in him] and I know the same thing about him. I know his heart. I know his toughness. I know who he is as a man," said Damian Lillard (https://www.nbcsports.com/northwest/portland-trail-blazers/injured-or-not-damian-lillard-believes-cj-mccollum) about McCollum after the game.

Will the team that stole our color scheme be the savior?
Nets have nothing to lose really. They play a tough matchup and a team playing desperate (this is gonna help them in the future). They are young and their players are already injured. I see all 3 games being competitive in my opinion (regardless if there will be resting).

highest %age is the winner, spurs simply can't win because schedule gave 1 game less than others.
It's not the number of games played, you douchebag. It's the number of wins.
If the Spurs and the other teams all finished with the same number of wins, and the Spurs have fewer losses (because of fewer games played), they have a higher winning percentage. Playing fewer games is actually an advantage, if the number of wins are the same.
French public schools must be even worse than American public schools.

Why are you giving him shit for? He's right.
Highest winning % gets into the play-in. Neither number of losses nor wins matter. If all teams win tomorrow, the Spurs will be out because they will end up with a lower winning %
Blazers 35-39 - .473 %
Suns 34-39 - .465 %
Grizzlies 34-39 - .465 %
Spurs - 33-38 - 464 %
The way the Spurs have been playing in this bubble I think it's safe to say that if they had 2 more games (to tie the number of games played by the Suns and the Grizzlies), they could have at least gone 1-1 which would have allowed them to catch those teams in terms of winning %. So yeah, playing fewer games has indeed fucked the Spurs over.
The irony is that in most baseball or NBA playoff races (where you're comparing teams with winning records rather than losing records) playing less games is an advantage for your winning percentage.
The presumed 1-1 record for the two extra games brings down an above-500 winning percentage the same way it raises up a below-500 winning percentage.
We're conditioned to think of playoff races being between winning teams that end up playing the same number of games -- that's why we're having such a hard time wrapping our heads around a situation where the "all-important" loss column means nothing.

You ignorant fuck. In case you don't get it, winning% is dividing the number of WINS by the total number of games played. Same number of wins and less games played gives a HIGHER winning%. If the Spurs had won the same number of games as the others, having fewer games to divide by was an advantage. It's a math thing.
You're presuming that if the Spurs had played 2 more regular season games, they would have won them. They're in this mess because they were 27-36 when the season stopped for COVID.

Actually DAF is right. You are missing the whole argument. Spurs played 2 games less than the Suns and Memphis before the Covid Shutdown, no matter the record, thats an disadvantage. His argument was, that those 2 games they realisticly could have gone 1-1, which i believe everbody can agree on. This would put the spurs on equal footing with the Suns and Memphis. Spurs have the tiebreaker with memphis (suns i dont know). But the League said from the beginning, thats the least unfair option they could agree on going by percentages. Your whole argument makes therefore no sense for the actual situation the spurs are inn.

And yeah, everybody knows winning % is dividing the number of wins by the total of games played. What we are trying to make you understand is that if the league would have scheduled the bubble to have all teams with the same amount of games, having two extra games would have helped the Spurs, the way they are playing right now. I realize people have to do what they think is best for their team, but most of these guys probably would have never received a president/GM/head coaching job in the league if they weren't associated with this franchise. It'd be nice if they remembered that sometime.

Spurs never had a chance to make the playoffs after the loss to the Nuggets. It would take a miracle and those games are meaningless for the opponents. I see all 4 teams fighting for the 8th seed winning.

Thats just simply not true. Even at that point noone expected the suns to go 8-0 and Lillard go Bonanza to edge out 2 last minutes victories. The one against Dallas was crazy as what not.
If Spurs go 6 - 2, everybody would have thought this is enough for the play in game before the bubble. (essentialy we were only 1/2 back of the 9th place to start with)

Agreed....6-2 should have been good enough. The Spurs were always gonna need help from some of the other teams...they just haven't gotten it.
The real kicker is we had a good chance to go 7-1, but that Sixers choke is going to end up being the difference.

The NBA screwed this up royally. Could have had some fun games between the teams that are actually competing for the final spots down the stretch, instead of games against teams that have nothing left to play for.
Imagine if Memphis-Spurs and Portland-Phoenix was today instead? This finish is so anti-climactic.
All that said, Adam Silver did an amazing job pulling this off when it feels like every other sport is a disaster.

Instead of a play-in between two teams it should have been a mini-tournment between all the teams involved. Especially considering the discrepancy on number of games played.

It was going to end eventually, but it shouldn't have ended in, at the very least, the next 2 or 3 seasons imho. Pop really fucked us on this.
The only reason he didn't put the best team possible out on the floor this season, was for nothing else other than he wanted to do the opposite of what most people knew he should be doing.
He doesn't want others to be right, and or he would rather lose his way, then win anybody else's. I mean that, because that's what it appeared to be. He plays his best players, were in the playoffs easy.
I could be wrong on all of this about Pop, but this is just what it appeared to be to me at least

I think the play in game is total BS, though. Either you are an 8 seed or you are not :lol Trying to get Zion in the postseason anyway possible I guess. I hope this play-in non sense does not extend past this season...I'm probably in the minority on that, though.
And I think all these teams should not have been allowed to rest star players during this restart. The games are already without incentive(HCA) and now they want to load manage. It was sort of obvious today even before the games started that big names were out and that Spurs would be gone before they even tipoff.

Nop, make it fair for everybody within the same winning %. I'm not saying include everybody on the mini-tournament, just the teams that are within a game of each other (Spurs, Suns, Blazers and Grizzlies). They have similar records because of what they did in the bubble AND the rest of the regular season. Jarrett Allen says getting to .500 (36-36) with a win tomorrow over Portland is a bit of a motivation. With all the adversity the team had to overcome, the lack of KD and Kyrie, etc, this season, it’s a good marker.

Too bad the Nets could put the Blazers away. They lost by a single point.

That shit is ridiculous. 4th quarter, down 7, 22 seconds on the shot clock, season on the line. I don't even know how to feel about it. As a Blazers fan I would be raging mad if he missed, but the dude seems to make everyone that takes from that range, so what can one say? :lol

I remember Manu taking a shot like that against the Sonics in game 2 of '05 WCSF. It was in the second quarter against the Sonics and Manu decided to randomly jack up a shot around the area where Dame took his. Manu missed the shot. Pop calls a time out immediately once the Spurs get the ball back. I remember Duncan actually stopping Pop from going livid on Manu. Duncan jokingly and seriously said during the time out "Manu are you with us are against us." Both of them laughed it off and proceeded to blow out the Sonics.

Really? Are you sure? I don't remember Manu ever taking a half court shot when the clock was expiring. Is there a link somewhere?

Says the Troll masquerading as a Spurs and or NBA fan who didn't realize the blazers had to play Memphis potentially TWICE to "GET IN" to "give the Lakers some hell".
And against your alleged favorite Power Forward of the Draft...
So Sad.
yeah no dumbass the trailblazers only have to beat the grizzlies once because they are the 8th seed, the grizzlies fell to the 9th seed because they suck, I guess you weren’t aware of that, shit takes per usual
