Observations from this game:

- Vassell has to start, elite defense and shooting. Looks like a top 5 player on this abomination of a roster already
- Aldridge is shooting a lot of 3s, less post ups
- Rudy Gay is in shape and more consistent with his shot than last year. He's also still a traffic cone on D
- Murray is still the same player, too loose with the ball, can't finish in traffic, no consistent jump shot
- Poeltl still can't shoot free throws
- Lyles is what he has always been, a 3rd stringer
- Lonnie Walker is a traffic cone on defense, his defensive footwork is terrible

We just have to hope White and Johnson have made some strides

I'm willing to give both Luka and Lyles the benefit of the doubt. This is rec ball with no sets being run. They're both more system players that rely on ball movement to create advantages, but it's good to see they're willing to force the issue on offense and they're both rebounding. I don't mind their shot coming on late. Luka has let a few balls go by that he could have gotten if he was engaged on the defensive side though. He still has that motor issue. He started good, pressuring up on his guy early, but he looks tired already. That added weight is likely playing a role in his adjustment.

Jones and Vassell are exciting to watch. On BOTH sides of the court. Really hope Pop gives Jones a chance to run the second unit.

Reynolds is a nice surprise so far. Looks like a baller. Could be a good bench player once he learns the system and his teammates.

Murray: Because he can rebound will be an NBA player, but not necessarily a starter caliber or worth the money. Also ego issues as he feels he's better than he is.

Lonnie: Because of athleticism and good attitude will probably be an NBA player, but unless he gets some instincts or drive may end up buried in the bench guy. A shame given his potential.

Luka: Athletic, but may be out of the league by end of his rookie contract unless he shows something.

We need at least 1 to turn it around to go with KJ, DV, White, etc.

Literally the only players I want to watch on this team. Now watch Pop give Demar, Murray, and Gay a ton of minutes while Vassell, Keldon , and White are relegated to the bench.

-Derozan, LMA, and Rudy are irrelevant players still trying to play mid 2000s ball in a league that's passed them by.
-Trey Lyles is one of the worst players on our team. I've never liked him. He's a big man version of Bryn Forbes and a lot of our success in the bubble had to do with him not suiting up. Spurs would have been better off waiving him.

-Vassel looks promising. He and Jakob are probably our best two defenders. Ideally, those two should start alongside Derrick and Keldon. It would be our best lineup.

-That Murray extension is looking like it was a mistake. He doesn't know how to run an offense or dribble the ball and we're paying him $15 mil a year?
-Lonnie is still the same timid player as last year. Looks lost when he's on the court.
-Luka has a really bad motor and his body language is not encouraging. Poku is two years younger and already a better, more aggressive player.

16 mil for the one of the best POA defender in the league is movable, don't sweat it. He is a positive asset maybe not to you but to the league he is. Having a primary initiator alongside Murray makes him significantly more valuable than what he is now because of his defense and rebounding.

I think this is a "planned lost" with the SL of Poeltl, LMA, Gay and DDR it's only a matter of time we get kill on defense. Hard disagree. He rarely held the ball for more than a beat if he wasn't shooting it. As for the defense, there were some rotations that were off but I don't know for sure they were his. Pop counts on him to be their defensive anchor so I'd guess the problem was elsewhere or multi-factoral.

And wait until he's playing alongside guys like Vassell, White, and KJ that aren't all shit. As it was he's had absolute road kill from the 1-3 spots for the better part of 2+ years. He's rarely been able to play his man straight up because he always had to play help defense.
