:lol yeah that call really didn't make sense considering there was no chance Baker was going to drive his team the full field w/ no timeouts...but I guess that's why he's coaching and I'm watching the game with Cheeto stains on my shirt

Millennial_Messiah
01-17-2021, 06:09 PM
Is this the first year in the history of the NFL where:

- The last 5 teams remaining hold the Top 5 quarterbacks in the league

tbh?

:lol yeah that call really didn't make sense considering there was no chance Baker was going to drive his team the full field w/ no timeouts...but I guess that's why he's coaching and I'm watching the game with Cheeto stains on my shirt

It was a brilliant call but they should have saved it for the Super Bowl.

Well good thing they don't have the Ravens center, tbh.

So, how does the concussion protocol work? I imagine Mahomes will be good to go next week, but will they let him?

DAF86

Well good thing they don't have the Ravens center, tbh.

QB sneak could have done the work just as fine without the need to risk so much.

Robz4000
01-17-2021, 06:13 PM
So, how does the concussion protocol work? I imagine Mahomes will be good to go next week, but will they let him?

Far from a guarantee he's ready to go. I don't think he will personally.

Millennial_Messiah
01-17-2021, 06:14 PM
So, how does the concussion protocol work? I imagine Mahomes will be good to go next week, but will they let him?

Has to be cleared by independent neurologist, then independent NFL doctors, then team doctors.

I assume it will be Henne next week but that should allow Mahomes more than ample time to rest that sore leg and everything else and be 100% by February.

Millennial_Messiah
01-17-2021, 06:15 PM
Far from a guarantee he's ready to go. I don't think he will personally.

Agreed. But the good news is it will allow him to heal everything else up and be 100% well in time for the SB.

Chiefs just need to stick to their game plan that beat Buffalo last time: run it early, run it often, and ram it down their throats.

DAF86

The Chiefs' running game won't be effective without Mahomes' passing threat.

The Browns were such a garbage team all year, it was a miracle they made it this far tbh

They were a quality team. Losing to the Jets and Oakland made them seem worse than they were. But they were a fine team with a vanilla but very effective offense.

But, the game is in Arrowhead. I still think the Chiefs beat BUF without Mahomes, tbh.

reid has clearly learnt his lesson after decades of missed opportunities.

Millennial_Messiah
01-17-2021, 06:19 PM
The Chiefs are still in the driver's seat for the championship IMO and sitting pretty no matter what. They have Mahomes locked up for 11 more years beyond this one, so plenty more Super Bowls to be won even if they can't beat BUF without him this year, though I think they will.

They are both cold weather teams. And half the stadium is empty.

Maybe Mahomes improves but I'm not seeing that generational clutch gene of a Joe or Tom. Roster around him and coaching will decline.

What? :lol If Mahomes has shown something early in his career is that he's clutch as fuck. I don't think I have ever seen him not deliver on a clutch situation. The Raiders this year is the only game I can think of.

Chad Henne just closed out a Divisional Round playoff game for them. Mahomes is a phenomenal pile jumper. When he excels they blow teams out. When he struggles they still win. He isn't carrying the Chiefs across the finish line like Rodgers for example.

It's what they get for choking the home game against Green Gay in September... if they'd won that game the Pukers would have been the 3 seed and had to play a healthy Rams in the first round instead of the Rams minus their best player on offense AND their best player on defense.

both QBs averaging less than 5 yards per attempt... both defenses continue staying in 2-high shells scared of giving up a big ball. i get why the saints are doing it, but the bucs only got beat deep on a trick play. brees isnt going to beat them over the top

spurraider21

Tampa Tom is the forever GOAT, Mahomes is too injury prone to chase Tampa Tom, tbh. Only Lawrence might have a chance to eventually de-seat the Great Tampa Tom.

Brady made the conference game, i wonder if FAP still thinks Belichick had the better season of the two :lmao

Stat padding vs sub .500 teams and relying on the defense on the only 2 over .500 teams' wins they have had all season. Let's see if the defense can take them to the SB, tbh.

Making the NFC championship game beating only 2 teams with winning records all season long. Has that ever been done before, tbh?

NFC South now belongs to the Bucs for the next few years or however long Brady continues to play. He looks like he could be good for another 5+, honestly.

Maybe there'll come a point where pundits and the media and the overall general public will remember him as Tampa Tom the Buccaneer and slowly lose memory about his days with Belicheat and the Patriots, tbh.

But in the playoffs they needed to at least beat 4 teams with winning records I assume. That means they made the NFC championship game beating at least 3 teams with winning records.

Back in 99 or 2000 the jaguars went 14-2 during the reg season and lost both to the titans. Jags had a bye and beat the dolphins 62-7 in divisional round. Then they lost to titans a 3rd time. Rams beat titans

You weren't asking when you made that BS comment about the Saints only being on the game because of a trick play, tbh. :lol

The Saints dominated the first half, then they came out on the second half putting toghether a great TD drive, forced the Bucs to punt, and were driving again. If not for that Cook fumble, they game would have ended there in favour of the Saints, tbh. The turnovers that the Bucs' defense came up with were the difference in the game. The Saints' defense had their chances of coming up with TO's too, but they fucked up, tbh.

Of course i wasn’t asking then. I meant it.

I forgot what the score was when Cooks fumble. They were up. Which was because of the busted trick play :lol

brady wasnt lighting it up but unlike Brees converted multiple big third downs throughout the game. Had some near picks but played much cleaner than brees

You were wrong though. Up to that point the Saints were dominating on every single aspect of the game, except turnovers.

1) turnovers are generally a very major aspect of the game

2) by the fact that the score was tied, they obviously had not dominated the first half

I have referenced this season because the Titans were a 13-3 Wild Card. Not sure that has been matched before or since

I remember trying to research why this occurred because in Week 3 win it was Neil ODonnell behind center for Tennessee. And George had under 60 yards.

The answer I came to was Titans defense simply had Mark Brunnel's number and he his performance over those 3 games - 2 TDs and 6 INTs

Turnovers are a major aspect of the game but many times they aren't consequence of dominance. A team could be dominating another on every single aspect of the game and the turnover can occur out of nothing on an isolated play.

Yah not like it use to be. In the past you could feel the turnover coming because of smothering defense play or erratic QB play

On Brees 2nd INT, was that a bad throw or was RB Kamara supposed to have turned and looked vs running upfield? Sure seemed like a misroute to me.

#3 int did Cook try to catch it with his shoulder or did Buc tip pass? Shitty replay work by CBS shows everything but that moment in time.

if a team is "dominating" by marching down the field for an 85 yard drive, but then fumbles it or throws an interception and comes away with no points, then they didn't dominate at all. they just got some nice stats and made the defense work more than if they went 3 and out.

are they a consequence of dominance? not necessarily, but a bad turnover completely negates whatever "dominance" was occuring on the drive.

Rodgers over Brees

Legacy. Drew will have the numbers but I always feared Drew's ability to deliver the ball and Rodgers' own ability. Thus Drew is too dependent on teammates and I believe tonight illustrated when teammates try to carry you. It's over - turnovers

GG. Sad to say goodbye to Drew, but obviously it's time. I'm upset about the loss because we gave the game away. Cook's fumble changed the entire dynamic of the game. Saints were about to go up by 10-14 points and the gameplan would have been different in the 4th quarter. Drew's arm, ribs, lung etc. are too shot to get in a shootout mentality which is what he had to do. Playoff losses always hurt, but this one didn't hurt nearly as much as the 2011 SF loss, the 2018 no-call, or the Minneapolis miracle, because those teams were capable of winning it all. This team was not. They'd have lost to GB in the cold next weekend.

I wish Drew would have gotten that 2nd ring, but those gutwrenching losses mentioned above took that away. But Brees-Payton got us a ring and the Saints probably wouldn't even still be in NOLA if it weren't for them. Time to look to the future. We'll see what Sean Payton can do without a HOF QB.

Does any of the local sports news get into details? Int #2 and #3 I'd like to know if correct route was run and if ball bounced off Cook (Cook?) due to db deflection or he just completely misjudged.
