Not disagreeing, but you figure he'd make some sort of adjustment. Should've been using his mobility more when it became apparent his depleted line was overmatched.

02-07-2021, 09:10 PM
only DAF could watch the goat go to a new team, adjust to a completely different system with virtually no offseason, throw for 4600 yards and 40 TDs, win @NO and @GB, win a superbowl, and still find ways to credit everybody but Brady along the way
Will Hunting
02-07-2021, 09:10 PM
Now the Chiefs’ defense is gassed and can’t stop Fournette, only way Tampa loses is if Brady basically plays the worst 16 minutes of his NFL career for the rest of the game.

Mahone delivered the 50 yard bomb to the endzone.
#10 had it bounce off his helmet.
Would have been a good, but did not require other-worldly effort to catch. He just misjudged it. There's 7-0 right there.
Next after the Bradys fail on 4th and goal from the one, Patty delivers a scrambling beauty on 3rd and long to stats-padder Kelce. He drops the perfect pass.

I’m not saying Brady isn’t great. But I’m sure you’re not making the point that Winston was a capable QB.
And as much as it pains me to say it, Fournette actually made them better. Not to mention the defense stepping up to top level.

Yes. Agree 100% with your post. Personally, I like both Mahomes and Brady. Brady's youtube highlight hooked me to watch football and I'm New England fan ever since. Meanwhile Mahomes is arguably the most talented and entertaining athlete I've ever seen. I watch every single KC's game. Mahomes is must-see tv. No matter the outcome, I simply can't lose. Either Brady wins 7th and becomes more accomplished athlete than Jordan, or Mahomes wins 2nd and becomes clear goat candidate.
Outcome? I don't know. KC has weak oline and Bucs pass-rush destroyed Packers strong oline. But Mahomes is more mobile than Rodgers right now and Mahomes is also better thrower of the football under pressure. Bucs offense is strong but not that intimidating. KC has average defense, but this defense was pretty good in the playoffs.
Tampa is more balanced team with better defense and Mahomes is slightly hobbled. But in the end, I think KC will outscore the Bucs, even if Mahomes isn't 100% healthy
Messi is more entertaining than Mahomes, tbh ;)

I'm with you, man. It's been a wild ride. Such a crazy collection of players coming in for this snapshot of a season. So many guys I'm happy got a ring, or another ring. Brady will get all the credit of course. But, that Front 7 was ferocious. Who would have thought the Chiefs would be held to 3 field goals? Helluva gameplan by Bowles and the entire Defensive coaching staff. Offense did enough the first half (that fucking 2 min drive before half was the back breaker) that they could just run the ball the 2nd half. Fournette put the game away with 5-6 yard run after run. Get that clock moving. So happy to see White get the INT to ice the game. Kid is special. Mike Evans too.

Tom can't make this pass go within 25 feet of the endzone, let alone drop a dime like Mahomes did that was dropped after going right to the target:

Brady played a good game manager, hitting open guys and letting Fournette run the ball with the lead. Lucky his interception was cancelled by penalty. Chiefs line only gets to him once while Mahomes faces pressure on 57% of 1st half dropbacks, Barrett made his life hell and two replacement tackles shit the bed. Todd Bowles was the true MVP this game, holding legendary KC to 9 points is better than anything Belicheat ever did

Patrick Mahomes is the greatest thrower of the football in the history of the sport by a wide margin, but he woulda lost this game even if brad johnson or dilfer or washed manning was on the other side instead of Tom. The most you could say is that he didn't make very many mistakes in a game he was asked to do very little..

I really think Mahome cost his team by not taking the 5-7 yd runs to keep the defense more honest.
He may be hurt and not have those 30 yd plus monster runs in him, but once the D realized he wasn't running, they really teed off on him.

Watching highlights / looking at the box score. Two things jump out:
1. Chiefs don't really have a real three-down running back. So, did they really 'give up the run game'? Or did they just not have one? It's frankly amazing they were in the Super Bowl given that reality.
2. Mahomes held onto the ball way too long many times. We can write off Brady and say, 'Well Mahomes made great throws and Brady just made the easy throws.' But maybe that's the point. Mahomes didn't take what the defense gave him and it cost him. Brady followed a game plan and let his team roll on to an easy W.
