That's regular season. I believe it will be a lot closer in a playoff series. Both teams will be playing like there is no tomorrow since it's not guaranteed either will get back next year.

So Coach Bud got to the Finals.

The NBA media/ESPN said he couldn't make needed in-game adjustments cuz he never played the game.

But he won the last two games of a conference Finals without the MVP.

He beat Nate McMillan.

Congrats Coach Bud.

I'm unsure about the Suns. They literally faced every single team missing their best player(s), other than Jokic. It's astounding. And they still didn't look great against the Clippers, who admittedly weren't bad. This Bucks team is playing with a lot of confidence and their role players are stepping up.

That was the greatest display of sportsmanship in the history of the Eastern Conference Finals.
Was there even one hard foul?
On the one hand, it’s a great thing to see. On the other hand, I expect more blood and antagonism in an ECF.

If Giannis was on the Spurs from the beggining of his career playing for Pop we would arleady be winning more chips. Bud is doing big mistakes in every single one game of every series so far, letting Brook Lopez getting cooked in the PnR time and time again. People talking about Middleton being MIA and Jrue not being able to score but a player can have a bad game, a coach can't, it's unacceptable and Bud is in his prime as a coach, it's not like he's Pop's age and we all know what comes with age. If Bucks lose which they while it's all on Bud and i like Bud. I' m still rooting for Bud but he's not helping himself.

Feel bad for Giannis...dude is putting up huge numbers on a bum knee...it's actually amazing he is even able to be out there on the court with how bad that injury looked. His teammates just aren't coming along for the ride. Middleton continues to be Jekyll and Hyde and Holiday is shooting like 48% TS.

Bucks actually made a run late in the 4th quarter and Connaughton had a good look at a three which would have made it a 3-point game...but then the front fell off.

That said, we'll see what happens when things shift back to Milwaukee. 2-0 seems like a big lead but we've seen that story before, and all the Suns have done so far is protect their home court.

R. DeMurre

Man, this game really highlighted the value of three point shots in the modern NBA. There were so many possessions where Milwaukee defended beautifully, only to have a three point miss carom wildly back into play as a 50/50 ball and another shot attempt for the Suns. The three point shot adds such an element of chance in defending, and makes even the most disciplined defensive team more vulnerable.

Not sure why it took me this long to realize but Giannis' guide hand is too high on the ball. The path for correction starts with moving his guide hand more to the side/under the ball.

I hope the Suns don't flame out now. Win game 4 than they got to try and beat you 3 times straight and in your gym twice. Suns have to go for the kill in game 4 and lay it all out. This Bucks team isn't going to flop over and hand them the LOB trophy. Suns have plenty of work left to do to win the NBA title. They have been playing the best basketball in the playoffs but I hope game 3 was just a bad game for this team. This Bucks team is a really smart, skilled ball club like the Suns. Suns better play better in game 4.

Giannis putting up historic numbers. The guy is such a joy to watch.

There are three wildly successful people with different backgrounds but similar stories that I tend to link together: Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones, who used to bring his guitar to bed with him & sleep with it, Efren Reyes (the great pool player), who used to sleep on a pool table in his Uncle's pool hall in the Philippines, and Giannis, who would sleep on an exercise mat in his local gym, because the streets in his part of Athens were too dangerous to walk on late night as an immigrant.

I still think PHX is the clear favorite tbh. They don't have an answer for Giannis but as long as they can keep Jrue/Middleton from staying hot the rest of the series, they should close it out in 5 or 6.

CP/Booker/Ayton are just generating easier looks on a more consistent basis than Giannis/Middleton/Jrue and the law of averages should catch up to MIL eventually IMO.

I hope I'm wrong tbh because I'd love nothing more than the Suns to remain the poverty franchise that they are tbh :lol

Suns are a good shooting team but them hitting 20 in game 2 was fluky. Even for this era it's difficult to hit 20 3's in a game consistently. If they had just missed a few threes in game 2 they would have lost and could have easily been down 2-1. This series is going to go 6 or 7 games.

Man this feels like 70/30 Bucks to win the Finals. With Paul's hand the way it is only Booker going nuclear twice and some lucky breaks are going to win this series for Phoenix at this point. You take Paul's ballhandling away and you're taking away Ayton's easy buckets at the rim and Bridges' open threes. Booker completely fucked his team by getting pissed about that out of bounds call being missed right before his fifth foul. If he could have controlled his emotions Phoenix would probably be going back home 3-1 right now with a great shot still to win the series. Man these series just turn on a fucking dime sometimes.

Booker played like a complete moron after not getting the call when the ball went off Tucker's foot on Booker's drive really early in the 4th. Dude starts yelling and getting hot, commits that retarded fifth foul right after, has to go the bench and kicks a chair, comes back in with six minutes left and all he's capable of giving them is 2 points and 2 fouls until the game was over. Suns needed him so desperately tonight with Paul hurt and he couldn't keep his emotions in check. If I'm Suns fan this loss is eating at me forever if they don't find some way to pull out two more. They could have won this game and had a real shot at raising a banner if Booker would have kept his cool.

Seriously, even the announcers were running out of excuses for all the bad calls and just straight up started calling out the refs. There were bad calls going both directions.

I seriously don't understand how that can be put on display on national television and the NBA still doesn't feel the need to do anything about it.

Some random musings from a guy that started watching the NBA Finals in the 1970's when Wes Unseld was throwing those crazy outlet passes:

- Game 5 has the makings of a classic. This one reminds me of the Spurs/Pistons in 2005. Milwaukee might pull off the road win, but, it will not be easy. Might take a miracle. Or two.
- The role players are playing much better at home, the stars, too. It will interesting to see if the Bucks can bring some of their momentum to Phoenix.
- It's odd seeing two unseasoned champions in the Finals. The Bucks won game 4 with that pounding the rock mentality and some bone-headed plays by the Suns.
- Middleton had the quietest 40 point Finals performance I have ever witnessed. Very Duncan-esque.
- The Bucks are killing the Suns on the offensive boards. If they do that 2 more times, it's over.
- What happened to Deandre Ayton? He disappeared on the road.
- Finally playing to packed houses might take some getting used to after the bubble and a season of empty to half-empty arenas.

On the players part, for sure. But the refs don’t seem to have a problem with the flopping, either. Or maybe it’s all part of their overly complicated training I assume they get as refs for how to call games. I imagine it’s constant internal memos and other overly complicated guidelines coming from the top as far as what to enforce or not. Just calling the game equally seems impossible for them, I assume from how they are trained.

I think the biggest issue is the consistency. Sometimes they will call the slightest touch a foul, other times guys will mug another player and there is no whistle. It seems to change from game to game, and sometimes even quarter to quarter. They'll let them play physical for three quarters then all of a sudden its a tweet-fest.

I know the playoffs are expected to be more physical, but last night Breen made the point that guys get used to getting some calls in the regular season, then suddenly it changes in the playoffs. That shouldn't be the case. This leads to a lot of players complaining which leads to fans complaining and it just is a bad look overall.

I know missed calls are going to happen and they can't call every touch a foul (nor should they), but just call the game one way and stop handing out this "star treatment". When everybody in the building can see a blown call except the three guys expected to make the call, that's a problem.

I’m psyched for tonight’s gm 5!

The Suns need to have a great performance or two from their stars and a role player needs to answer the call.
Barring a complete disaster for the Bucks, this is a must-win for the Suns.
Bucks win Gm 5, it’s over.

Jrue Holiday is due for a big scoring night. If that happens, Suns are in trouble.

If Chris Paul gets it going again and can score and distribute, Suns could roll. That’s a big if.

Booker needs to wise up to the fact that teams are attacking his foul prone defense.

The big if for the Bucks is how much momentum and confidence will transfer to a very hostile arena.

Chris Paul playing like crap. When he's on he spoonfeeds easy buckets to Ayton the same way he used to for Tyson Chandler and DeAndre Jordan.

I’m psyched for tonight’s gm 5!

The Suns need to have a great performance or two from their stars and a role player needs to answer the call.
Barring a complete disaster for the Bucks, this is a must-win for the Suns.

I don't think Chris Paul's hand is right. Look at how he was unable to control his dribble in Game 4 and he'd be doing things you'd never see him doing normally like passing the ball to Ayton at the three point line early in a possession so he didn't have to handle it. Seeing that I thought Game 4 was a must win for the Suns given the game Booker had through the first three quarters, because with Paul at 30-40% I think Milwaukee is a much better team and taking 1 of 3 to close the series would have been difficult and what a disaster to waste Booker's big game. I hope I'm wrong and Game 4 wasn't about Paul's hand, but it really looked like it was and if that's the case it's hard not to see Milwaukee pulling off the backdoor sweep. Still rooting for CP3 and Monty Williams to be holding Larry at the end though.

Everyone's talking about the refs swallowing their whistles for the intentional foul on Holiday-- and that makes sense-- but a minute later Booker committed another foul and he himself walked off the court assuming he'd fouled out, only to realize-- once again-- he hadn't.

Booker checked out mentally early in the fourth when he blew up at the ref for calling a ball off Booker when it touched PJ Tucker last. Booker could never let go of that shit yelling at the refs and then committed that moronic fifth foul right after, started kicking shit on the bench, came back in with 6 minutes left and committed those moronic sixth and seventh fouls. Really disappointed in how thin the guy's skin was in Game 4, especially after how ridiculous he was playing through quarters 1-3. He really let the Suns down. If he could have kept his emotions in check he probably would have guided them to a season saving road win.

Amazing what happens when you play to your strengths and not try to fall in the “must shoot 3s” trap. Giannis looks like past greats out there, sort of like Hakeem.

the Bucks are somewhat playing the offense the Spurs ran with the whole dribble kick thing, except obviously they have a star who pulls defenders in and makes great passes to good shooters around him.

im really happy for Jrue. One of my favorite players outside of basketball. The guy seems like a very charitable person and I like that.

Jrue Holiday's the perfect illustration of how multi-dimensional guys help a team win. Even when his shooting was subpar, his assist-to-turnover ratio and defense were both spectacular.

For all the talk I've seen here of the Bucks being "low IQ," the steal on Booker really showed their team intelligence... Tucker gambles on jumping before Booker shoots, knowing that if Booker pump fakes Giannis will still be behind him to defend. That prevents the shot attempt. Holiday guesses correctly that Booker wants to take the last shot, shades away defensively from CP3, and anticipates Booker turning around when faced with the Tucker/Giannis double team to get the steal. That's great defense.

Not a superstar but I like Morant and the Grizzlies a good amount. They are also a feel good team, a lot younger and maybe not in Giannis sphere but has potential, but also is well loved in Memphis and just fun to watch as well.

Kinda feel he comes across kind of cocky especially so early in his career but he is a badass. I wish he would just calm down a bit and be more humble for as young as he is.
