Maybe you could argue for Alpha but even then probably not in young people under 45 or so. Delta even less of a case, and I had omicron in Dec 2021-Jan 2022 and I'm as healthy as I was if not healthier before it. Yeah, it was a shitty couple weeks, but after taking hydroxychloroquine and azithroymycin, I was just fine.

Cope and seethe and just embrace the bitter truth that you voluntarily shortened the lifespan of your ticker by voluntarily getting a government-pushed poison jab. :lolNah, you're full of shit. I went three years without getting it, because I protected myself. And when I got it, my disease progression was mild for the same reason.

Walt Disney Co. sued Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Wednesday, alleging the Republican governor has waged a “relentless campaign to weaponize government power” against the company amid a protracted fight over a controversial classroom bill.
The federal lawsuit alleges that DeSantis “orchestrated at every step” a campaign to punish Disney that now threatens the company’s business.

Voiding contracts because Disney criticized DeSantis is kind of unamerican and kind of antibusiness. Political donations are core free speech in Florida, but political speech is subject to official retaliation.

Ron DeSantis Just Lost Another Donor
Meatball Ron has lost a second donor in two weeks after a New York-based billionaire who supported Donald Trump in his 2020 presidential bid ruled out supporting the Florida governor in any potential run for the White House.
In an interview on Wednesday, John Catsimatidis—a supermarket and property magnate with an estimated $4.1 billion fortune—claimed he was pulling any future funding of the Republican over a lack of access. "Why would I support somebody to become president of the United States that doesn't return phone calls?" he told the Washington Examiner.
This news came after major GOP donor Thomas Peterffy—a financier and the 65th richest man in the world with a net worth of $25 billion—said he had put donations to DeSantis "on hold" over his stance on abortion and book banning.

The Florida state leg has been in session since early March, and DeSantis could have called a special legislative session even earlier if he wanted to. It's no secret that the FL state leg does whatever DeSantis wants; this change to the resign-to-run law could have been done ages ago.
He waited until the end of Florida's legislative session (early May) because he thought it would benefit him to pass a bunch of stupid culture war bills in Florida before announcing when all he did was give Trump a 4 month head start on caving his face in.

It will be thrown out in the Florida (right wing) court as a frivolous lawsuit. Plaintiff will pay damages and attorney's fees.
Nimrata actually invited Disney to go move to Myrtle Beach in SC. Bold move attacking Desantis from the left :lmao but she's about as electable for the GOP as Liz Cheney at this point.

It doesn't even matter if Disney has him on the facts or not. This is just politically stupid. They have access to one of the worlds largest and best sets of lawyers. There's no way this is going to be over before the election unless Florida just gives up and settles, then he's a big loser and Trump rips his head off. And his dumbass MAGA voter base has the attention span of ducks. They'll either go shoot up Disney World or forget what this is even about in a few hours but he's got to deal with it throughout the campaign and any non-retard/MAGA voter is like "wtf he at war with Disney we love Disney!"

Remember when you made a thread proclaiming DeSantis as the new king of the republican party?,,,,I responded no way,,,Trump still rules the roost. And if DeSantis won the primary,,,I would even vote against him,,,thats what i posted and that is how bad Desantis is right now. Now a ticket of Trump/DeSantis would be the best just for sheer numbers and galvanizing the republican party but DeSantis as the main choice would almost be as bad as picking Ted Cruz.

That is mind-numbingly stupid. You have to vote red no matter the head... en masse... it's the only way we can counter blue no matter who and actually save the country. If PA voted blue no matter who for senator in 2022, we have to vote red no matter the head. In record numbers.
Cutting off your nose to spite your face is fucktarded.

Correct.

Incorrect. He would perform better than Ted Cruz. He would probably be a better POTUS than Cruz as well. Though he would have a hard time winning a bellwether state like Wisconsin. However I do believe Pennsylvania is too far gone after 2022. You have to run the table with GA/AZ/WI which is still doable but Trump and the GOP need to fix the turnout operation there especially in the suburbs and exurbs. Nevada is another possibility but the polls always seem to be too optimistic there. However having a pretty solid GOP governor there now in place may change things quite a bit. Losing all the house seats and senate seat in 2022 there was a blackpill though.

The DeSantis event with Mr. Musk will be moderated by David Sacks, a Republican donor who is a supporter of the governor and is close to Mr. Musk. Mr. Sacks, a technology entrepreneur and investor, donated $50,000 to Mr. DeSantis’s state political committee ahead of his re-election, campaign finance records show. He has spoken positively of the governor’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic in Florida. “He was the first governor to stop these insane lockdowns,” Mr. Sacks said (https://twitter.com/BloombergTV/status/1448075778143526918?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5 Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1448075778143526918%7Ctwgr% 5E8f843582d9c9f06b28f2c2771d7bc7e37aa0de0f%7Ctwcon %5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.realclearpolitics.com%2F video%2F2021%2F10%2F13%2Ftech_investor_david_sacks _defends_hosting_desantis_fundraiser_he_was_first_ to_stop_insane_lockdowns.html) on Bloomberg TV in 2021. “I respect that.”

Yeah, I mean I'll support desantis if he wins the primary, but he has about the same chance at winning the primary at this point as he has of turning the moon into green cheese. His poll numbers actually have tanked considerably in the past week since he announced formally. :lol
I bet he'll suspend his campaign sooner than later to save face. Maybe after IA/NH/SC/NV or so. He'll drop out and endorse Trump. It's a shame because he's been such a based governor in Florida but he's simply too green to be POTUS in 2025. Maybe next cycle. I think a lot of it isn't his fault though. The GOP establishment, the Karl Rove and Koch types drafting him to run because they're tired of Trump, Mike Lindell and QAnon religion-based conspiracy theories and want to get back to winning elections but still with the same or similar policy as Trump, but don't realize that Desantis is just not really electable at the national level at the top of the ticket at this point.
Perhaps the Desantis VP / Trump POTUS 2024 idea is still in the cards, especially if he drops out early. Trump or Desantis would need to renounce his Florida residence for that to happen, and it doesn't make sense for Desantis. Trump has homes in multiple places but Nevada makes the most sense because he's not in legal trouble there and it's a purple swing state and winnable and there's a juicy senate seat up for grabs there in '24. He switched from NY in 2016 to FL in 2020 so switching domicile to a state like NV would not be past Trump imo. Also, no state income tax in NV just like FL.

The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office says it has completed its investigation into the transport of 49 migrants from San Antonio to Martha’s Vineyard last September by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ administration and filed criminal charges with the local district attorney.
A statement from the sheriff’s office says it has filed several counts of unlawful restraint, both misdemeanors and felonies. The sheriff’s office didn’t name any individual suspects and didn’t specify when the investigation was turned over to the Bexar County district attorney.
“At this time, the case is being reviewed by the DA’s office. Once an update is available, it will be provided to the public,” the statement said.https://www.texastribune.org/2023/06/05/texas-san-antonio-migrant-flight-marthas-vineyard-criminal-charges/

DeSantis agenda leads to concerns about a Florida ‘brain drain’
In theory, it might seem easy for universities in Florida to recruit top-tier academic talent.
In practice, Ron DeSantis' agenda has created a problem.
Ron DeSantis (https://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/maddowblog/desantis-defends-anti-lgbtq-video-totally-fair-game-rcna92885), Florida’s ambitious Republican governor,
has already denounced college majors he disagrees with,
suggesting publicly (https://twitter.com/stevebenen/status/1658181262333337602) that if he disapproves of your undergraduate field of study,
you should simply relocate to some other state.
DeSantis has similarly
waged a strange campaign against “woke” ideas in higher education,
ended on-campus diversity programs, and targeted tenure.
such tactics would push some professors to take positions in other states,
while discouraging other top professors from considering Florida schools.
“some signs of an exodus are apparent.”
a candidate for a position in the philosophy department who “took a job at a lower-ranked school in another state, pointing to Florida’s political climate.”
a prospective finance professor concerned about the future of tenure in the state also took a position elsewhere.
an ecology professor said open positions that once drew over 200 applicants now see fewer than 20.
The African American studies department at UF made nine offers while trying to fill three positions. None accepted.
A report from the American Association of University Professors pointed to a law school position that couldn’t be filled and
said some candidates were turning down Florida offers with nothing else lined up.

Convention organizers are pulling out of Florida, which is devastating knock-on tourism and causing panic over the future of the industry, experts warned in a report Friday.
When asked for a reason why they were scrapping plans, one organizer wrote simply: “Governor DeSantis.”
More than half a dozen planned conventions in Broward County, which encompasses the Fort Lauderdale area, have been scrapped in recent months, according to a list drawn up by the county’s tourism promotion group Visit Lauderdale and reported by the South Florida Sun Sentinel.

Good. They can take their shitty vax-mandate mask-mandate woke business to Oregon or Massachusetts or some forever democrat run state like that. Florida is where woke goes to die and woke companies go (or stay) to die. I hope we can win California back too at some point in the next handful of cycles.

3-yer old driving a golf cart? Is this a FL/GA thing and why is it just being made illegal? Are there no adults in the fucking state? JFC!
A 3-year-old driving a golf cart hit and killed a 7-year-old in Florida, police say
A 3-year-old driving a golf cart struck and killed a 7-year-old on Monday afternoon in Fort Myers, Florida, according to a news release from the Florida Highway Patrol.
The 3-year-old was approaching a right curve near a home on private property when the front of the cart hit the 7-year-old who was standing in the front yard, the release said.
The older child was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead, the release said. The 3-year-old wasn’t hurt.
Concerns about minors driving golf carts in Florida recently prompted the passage of a new state law, CNN affiliate WJFX reported. Anyone under the age of 18 will soon need to have a permit or driver’s license to drive a golf cart, the station reported last month.
The bill was signed into law by Gov. Ron DeSantis and goes into effect October 1.

The begging
Second year in a row.
Ron DeSantis had just been sworn in as a member of the House in 2013 when he voted against sending $9.7 billion in disaster relief to New York and New Jersey, two states still reeling from the damage of Hurricane Sandy.
“I sympathize with the victims,” the Florida Republican said at the time, but objected to what he called Congress’ “put it on the credit card mentality” when it came to government spending.
Now, a day after Hurricane Idalia pummeled Florida less than a year since Hurricane Ian’s destruction, DeSantis is not objecting to federal borrowing when it’ll help his disaster-stricken state. As Florida’s governor — and a 2024 White House contender — he is in regular contact with President Joe Biden (https://www.politico.com/news/2023/08/31/desantis-fema-administrator-tour-hurricane-damage-00113616) as the state seeks dollars from Washington to rebuild from the storm wreckage, assist rescue efforts and aid displaced residents.https://www.politico.com/news/2023/08/31/desantis-florida-gop-sandy-disaster-aid-00113627

Shakespeare gets caught in Florida's 'Don't Say Gay' laws
One school district will have students read only excerpts from the Bard of Avon’s plays owing, in part, to state laws restricting content that can be deemed sexual.

:lol pudding fingers turning Florida into a idiocracyThe notion that children can be protected from explicit content by banning books and speech in schools is laughably naive when they have unfettered access to the internet, but maybe that's not the point. The point is to hollow out public goods like education and libraries.

DeSantis is afraid of a 15 year old for asking a straightforward question he didn't want to answer.
Quinn Mitchell has seen at least 35 presidential candidates in person since 2019, when he first started showing up at New Hampshire primary events to ask them questions.
Not a single one of them had ever treated the now-15-year-old as if he were a threat—until Ron DeSantis (https://www.thedailybeast.com/keyword/ron-desantis) came to town.
It all started with a straightforward question. In June, when DeSantis stopped for a town hall event in Hollis, Mitchell raised his hand in the crowd.
“Do you believe that Trump violated the peaceful transfer of power,” the teenager asked the governor, “a key principle of American democracy that we must uphold?”

just bonkers levels of insecurity
Speaking about it for the first time in an interview with The Daily Beast, Mitchell says that he was grabbed and physically intimidated by DeSantis security at two subsequent campaign stops, where the candidate’s staffers also monitored him in a way he perceived as hostile.
The experience, Mitchell said, was “horrifying” and amounted to “intimidation.”
At a Fourth of July parade DeSantis attended, Mitchell was swarmed by security and physically restrained after a brief interaction with the governor—with his private security contractors even demanding Mitchell stay put until they said so.
With his mother alarmed, the situation escalated to such a degree that the candidate’s wife, Casey, spoke directly with her—but to suggest her son was being dishonest about what happened, according to Mitchell.
Then, at an August 19 event—where Mitchell was tailed closely by two security guards—an attendee told The Daily Beast they saw a staffer for DeSantis’ super PAC, Never Back Down, take a photo of the teenager on Snapchat before typing out an ominous caption: “Got our kid.”
Seven other sources corroborated Mitchell’s version of events, either by sharing contemporaneous communications with the family or recounting what they witnessed in person at DeSantis events, including the Fourth of July parade. The teenager and his family say they have yet to receive any kind of apology from DeSantis.
The DeSantis campaign and Never Back Down did not return multiple requests for comment from The Daily Beast.
As astute an observer of the state’s politics as any, Mitchell had a blunt assessment of the fiasco over DeSantis’ treatment of him. “Really stupid,” he said, “in a small state like New Hampshire.”

A Florida redistricting plan pushed by Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis violates the state constitution and is prohibited from being used for any future U.S. congressional elections since it diminishes the ability of Black voters in north Florida to pick a representative of their choice, a state judge ruled Saturday.
Circuit Judge J. Lee Marsh sent the plan back to the Florida Legislature with instructions that lawmakers should draw a new congressional map that complies with the Florida Constitution.

It's officially time to appeal to SCOTUS to officially remove the antiquated 1960s racist section 2 clause from the Voting Rights Act, on the account that it is segregationist and violates the 14th. Especially since Louisiana also has a similar case in progress.

So the section of the law set up to prevent historically racist institutions from disenfranchising minorities is segregationist and violates equal protection? And this shitty point is supposedly furthered by another historically racist institution being under scrutiny?
This is some Orwellian shit you're peddling. You should stick to your story time.

Disagree. To polarizing and only representing the hard right. No way you get the never trumper republicans or independents with that ticket,,,, Trump would be better pulling a wild card and convincing Condoleezza Rice to run as his VP. No one would see that coming and would actually have a black woman as VP with an Intellect above a plastic house plant unlike the VP black woman we have now.

A group of Republican legislators, angry with Gov. Glenn Youngkin and his political team for spotlighting a 15-week abortion ban ahead of Tuesday’s elections, said they will try to overthrow House Speaker Todd Gilbert for failing to push back against a strategy that they say cost the GOP control of the House, according to three delegates involved in the effort.
At a closed-door meeting in Richmond on Sunday, just days after Democrats flipped the House of Delegates and held onto the state Senate, House Republicans plan to elect their caucus leadership. As speaker, Gilbert (R-Shenandoah) was in line to become minority leader given his party’s loss of the majority. :lol

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis made a big bet on winning Iowa as he charted out a path for capturing the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.
DeSantis' campaign and his affiliated super PAC, Never Back Down, crisscrossed Iowa for months to rally support, hopeful that DeSantis would make a compelling case against Yam Tits, who remained popular with conservatives in the state.
But shortly before the Iowa caucuses, DeSantis had a significant polling deficit against Trump, and had seen his support decline so much that he looked to be in a neck-and-neck race for second place with former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley.
And in the days before the caucuses, Never Back Down CEO Scott Wagner was photographed poring over a 1,000-piece jigsaw puzzle as the super PAC's staffers worked on their laptops around him in a West Des Moines office, according to a NBC News report.

President Donald Trump brought an early end Thursday to the speculation around his favorite for the 2026 Florida governor’s race in a post on Truth Social (https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/114038745707654586), endorsing loyalist Rep. Byron Donalds (https://directory.politicopro.com/member/260201) for the job.
The president’s backing of Donalds is likely to have a chilling effect on the race in Florida, a state Trump won by 13 points in November and that he has called home since 2019. Trump over Truth Social urged Donalds to run and called him a “highly respected congressman” and a “TOTAL WINNER” who’d been “tested at the highest and most difficult levels.”
Trump made his choice for governor clear far before any candidate — including Donalds — stated his or her intention to run. The announcement also came as speculation has reached a fever pitch about whether Gov. Ron DeSantis’ wife, Florida first lady Casey DeSantis, would run for her husband's job and as the governor has been increasingly talking about his legacy.
“Looks like that's that,” one Ron DeSantis donor and supporter texted POLITICO upon seeing Trump’s social media post.

For being "from a country of concern"
This is DeSantis's pet conservative university
The New College of Florida (https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/florida) has fired a Chinese language professor under a state law that restricts Florida’s public universities from hiring individuals they deem to be from “countries of concern”.
On Friday, Suncoast Searchlight reported (https://suncoastsearchlight.org/new-college-fires-chinese-professor-florida-countries-of-concern/) the firing of Kevin Wang, a professor who has sought asylum in the US and is authorized to work in the country. According to the outlet, Wang had been teaching classes in Chinese language and culture for nearly two years when he was fired on 12 March.
According to his dismissal letter, which Suncoast Searchlight reviewed, the New College of Florida’s decision to terminate Wang’s contract was “not based on any misconduct and does not constitute a dismissal for cause or disciplinary action”.
Instead, the college cited state law SB 846 which states (https://www.flsenate.gov/Laws/Statutes/2023/0288.860) that schools “may not accept any grant from or participate in any agreement with any college or university based in a foreign country of concern” without the approval from the board of governors, Suncoast Searchlight reports.
According to the law, the so-called “countries of concern” include China, Russia, Iran, North Korea, Cuba, Venezuela and Syria.
The law, which went into effect in July 2023, also prevents state universities from entering into partnerships with “any person who is domiciled in a foreign country of concern and is not a citizen or lawful permanent resident of the United States”.
Suncoast Searchlight reports that Wang, who was hired by the New College of Florida three weeks after the state law went into effect, said that before he came to the US in May 2022, he was a university professor in China.
“I faced political repression from the Chinese Communist Party for criticizing Xi Jinping and the CCP’s domestic and foreign policies, resulting in the loss of my teaching position and my freedom to teach, research, and express myself in China,” Wang told the outlet.
“I never expected to face such a distressing experience after escaping persecution from the CCP in China, only to encounter a somewhat similar situation at New College in the United States,” he added.https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/mar/29/florida-new-college-fires-chinese-professor

A New College of Florida official and former spokesperson for Gov. Ron DeSantis faces multiple charges for exposing himself, according to reports.
Frederick Joseph Piccolo Jr., 47, was arrested Tuesday for exposure of sexual organs in Manatee County, jail records show.
He faces three similar charges from October in Sarasota County, according to records.
New College told ABC 7 (https://www.mysuncoast.com/2025/04/16/new-college-marketing-director-arrested-charged-with-exposing-himself/) that Piccolo, who served as the school’s director of media and marketing, was no longer employed there.
In his latest arrest, Piccolo exposed himself to a woman after asking her for directions while driving through the Lakewood Ranch County Club on March 28, WTSP reported (https://www.wtsp.com/article/news/crime/desantis-spokesperson-arrested-sarasota-county-mall-frederick-piccolo-new-college/67-61cdaf67-25d9-44ec-972b-01dc7ffbd6e5). She picked him out as the suspect in a photo lineup.
He was previously accused of exposing himself to employees at stores in the University Town Center, including at Banana Republic on Aug. 22 and twice at Dillard’s on Sept. 3 and 4, reports said.
Piccolo previously served as communications director for DeSantis’ office, as well as for the Florida Speaker of the House.

bimetallism and state-issued currency in the 21st century...sort of
the freaky fringe is the Republican mainstream
Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a bill on Tuesday that would recognize gold and silver as legal tender in the state, paving a path for Floridians to use the commodities in payment transactions.
The bill, HB 999, starts the process of allowing government or private entities, such as businesses, to voluntarily accept gold (https://markets.businessinsider.com/commodities/gold-price?utm_medium=referral&utm_source=yahoo.com) and silver (https://markets.businessinsider.com/commodities/silver-price?utm_medium=referral&utm_source=yahoo.com) as a form of debt payment. The bill also outlines sales tax exemptions on the purchase of the precious metals if they meet the purity requirements or if the sale of the gold or silver exceeds $500.
HB 999 is set to go into effect on July 1, 2026, if the Florida Legislature ratifies the rules to implement the bill before then.
In a statement on X announcing the bill's signing, DeSantis said the move was to ensure the state's financial sovereignty.
"Florida stands firmly for freedom, economic self-determination, and resistance to government overreach," the governor said. "But for too long, outdated regulations and unnecessary sales taxes have made it impractical for Floridians to enter the gold and silver market."
Florida's recognition of the gold and silver follows in the footsteps of states like Utah, which implemented a law in 2011 to recognize gold and silver as legal tender (https://www.businessinsider.com/gold-silver-to-be-legal-currency-in-utah-2011-5?utm_medium=referral&utm_source=yahoo.com) and exempt coins from state taxes.
The Florida bill states that gold coins must have 99.5% purity and silver coins must have 99.9% purity to be recognized as legal tender.
The coins must also be stamped with their weight and purity, according to the bill.
Governmental entities can also accept gold or silver but only in the form of electronic transfer, the bill states.

Vance, Rubio, DeSantis are all strong candidates for 2028
Who do the Democrats have who could realistically win? Whitmer, who else?? I think she'd beat Vance but good luck getting her through the primary.

DeSantis is looking vulnerable in Florida right now and was notably weak against Trump last year
Vance is doesn't reach 50% approval in the Rasmussen poll -- not super well liked on his own side
Rubio, Vaught and Miller are basically running the government for DJT. Rubio is the most viable politician in that group, but also most exposed to backlash. Rubio is also notably not very charismatic.
Three weak candidates imho, none of them having Trump's talismanic connection with money and success

Vance is actually a very mediocre candidate. Did I say that Vance was a strong candidate? Well, I was probably drinking.
If you look at the difference between Virginia in 2021 and 2025. It's eighteen percent. Was the environment responsible? To a small degree, sure, but candidate quality is everything. We complain in conservative circles about hemorrhaging female voters fighting feminazism and counterculture, and the gender gap and women's suffrage has never been a bigger problem, particularly younger, single females. The solution? Females go crazy for a very tall, dark, handsome man like Youngkin. It's just a fact. AND he has charisma.
I still like this ticket for 2028 against Newsom (likely Newsom - Whitmer imo, but he might mess up and pick Beshear or Wes Moore) though honestly the prospect of Youngkin - Rubio, Youngkin - DeSantis, or DeSantis - Youngkin are all tantalizingly electable tbh.
Ditch Vance. He sucks.

GOP plan is Vance/Rubio
As it stands, they have the backing of Trumps and the tech bros. Of course, the GOP has actual primaries so I suppose anything is possible, as Trump himself proved, but atm I don't see anyone of substance who can challenge that plan given the money they will have. Wildcard is Trump himself as he can throw anyone under the bus if it suits him
Dem plan is Jewbama/Buttplug or Whitmer. Jewbama preferring Whitmer but the party wanting Buttplug. Pretty strong ticket tbh but with some obvious weaknesses. Newsome doesn't want POTUS and is playing for a high level cabinet position according to sauces. Wildcard is the progressive wing (AOC) but I'm sure they'll fall in line like they always do with AOC being bought off with a cabinet position or Schumers seat.

Shapiro and Buttigieg are atrociously unelectable candidates. If they really want the far left pro-Mamdani base to not turn out, they'll nominate Shapiro. Does he even win Pennsylvania honestly as the POTUS nominee? His kind isn't popular at all and Buttigieg is slightly more palatable to the general electorate as VP than POTUS but still a huge liability to social conservatives and religious people who might be more neutral to left leaning economically.
Newsom doesn't want POTUS... are you mad? Did you not watch his victory speech last night after prop 50 passed?

Democrats should want Vance to be the nominee, barring some pipe dream like Marjorie Taylor Greene or Nikki Haley that would never happen. Even if Rubio is a strong and very electable VP choice, there's no question that Vance is a liability, has base issues and irritates women voters and a lot of moderates. Not as popular with the white working class as Trump given his Ivy League background. Not as popular with the right wing given his questionable faith and family choices.

I just think that he loses just enough support amongst both the base and suburban women compared to Trump that it puts a strong candidate like Newsom just narrowly over the edge, in PA, WI, maybe Georgia. Dems should be somewhat macro-bullish on Georgia more than the other swing states considering that state trended least back to Trump out of all the swing states vis-a-vis the national environment.

https://patch.com/florida/bradenton/former-desantis-spokesperson-exposed-himself-multiple-times-reportNew College pantsed by Florida DOGE
As Gov. Ron DeSantis and his allies have boasted about “cutting waste and woke ideology” at Florida universities, his Sarasota bayside project (https://www.heraldtribune.com/story/news/local/sarasota/2025/10/28/sarasotas-new-college-to-sign-trumps-higher-education-compact/86944005007/) has escaped such scrutiny despite operating at enormous costs compared to peer state institutions.
New College of Florida appears to be the most financially inefficient school in the university system, according to a study conducted by the state, with expenses per student and per degree far above average. The study (https://www.flbog.edu/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/State-University-System-Efficiency-Study-to-BOG-10.29.2025.pdf) was carried out by the Florida Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), and state education officials are expected to review it publicly at the University of South Florida on Nov. 6.

DeSantis reportedly wants a job from Trump
President Trump (https://www.axios.com/politics-policy/donald-trump) has told confidants that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (https://www.axios.com/local/miami/2026/01/21/governor-desantis-claims-victory-on-public-education-in-florida) is "begging" for a job in Trump's administration — including attorney general — Axios has learned.
DeSantis also has expressed interest in being secretary of defense and even a spot on the U.S. Supreme Court, according to six sources briefed on the discussions.
