Not to be the master of the obvious, but I suspect this means that someone else is coming in. Scales didn't fill any needs (other than the need to have another warm body available for practices with Finley and Barry dinged) . . . . but there are guys out there who do.

National Basketball Association News Wire

SAN ANTONIO - The world champion San Antonio Spurs signed free agent guard Alex Scales on Thursday.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

The University of Oregon product has played professionally for five seasons in Italy, Korea and China.

The 6-2, 180-pound Scales averaged 5.6 points in seven preseason games with the Seattle SuperSonics this year before being cut.

After signing with the Spurs, Scales was placed on the inactive list.
