This season soon over and good riddance but hopefully Celtics ring over GSRef

22-23 too early predictions

Champs - Bucks come back to win 2 of three after Nets have best regular season
Coach of Year - Ham due solely to media love after Fakers finish 4th in West
MVP - some guy named Luka edging out Durant (who wins scoring title)
Popovich retires and Spurs name woman coach but not Becky
LeBron goes all in on scoring to catch Kareem
Davis and Simmons continue to have strange injuries
Zion makes big return plays well but hurt before playoffs

A joke intended to imply you are sport hungry. Already thinking 2023

I personally want to see Zion rebound. Bulls not resign Lavine and Lebron forced to see out what he signed up for.

Lol Kobe love. First group of titles as a 2nd banana, never won back to back MVPs, lower winning percentage, most missed shots in NBA history, far lower PER, had years missing playoffs or low seed, coach killer, Shaq killer and on an on and most importantly, was a dishonor off the court. At best 12th-15th all time while Duncan easily in top 10.

Comparing gunning non efficient Kobe to high PER and all time winning percentage true great Duncan, is worthless as Kobe is a decent 12-15 range pseudo great while Duncan comfortably within top ten with a legit case for top 6 or so. Fakers fans give up a useless argument.

True, Wood is the better player in a vacuum but the Mavs will be regretting this move by December tbh. He can shoot the three unlike Powell but his "skills" are overblown. Not to mention he's somehow worse than Powell defensively and his history of off-court problems. If they didn't have to include the pick it'd be a worthwhile gamble since his contract is movable, but they could've gotten more value out of it imo.

keep in mind that wood (since he came into his own and received regular PT) has been on nothing but garbage teams with beyond atrocious defensive guards and wings. lets give him a chance on an actually quality team where he will get the easiest shots he will ever have in his career playing alongside luka, some quality defensive wings and a good defensive coach/system.

he may still end up failing monumentally, but it seems unfair to say hes worse than powell when he hasnt had anything close to a similar situation yet

I hope they make them favorites we see how much better they performed when expectations are low.
That being said they should be well rested they are well coached I don’t see a championship because, well they are the Clippers and they always gonna clip. But they won’t be an easy out.

While it's better than the Lakers trading for WB, it's still not a great fit since Wall can't shoot. Playmaking should help though.

Word is they’d have to do better than match the Knicks offer + give the extra year to keep him. Honestly giving Brunson almost $30 mil for the next five years is kinda crazy, so I don’t know that I blame Cuban for passing on it. Brunson is really good but he’s nowhere near worth that.

Also it seems pretty obvious they’re going to try again at luring a big free agent in a couple years, hoping now they’ll have a chance with Nico instead of creepy uncle Donnie. Stupid plan, but whatever.

i see lots of ''Luka dont share the ball'' posts on the internet again... Even tho Brunson had more usage than Jaylen Brown. Also, when Luka and Brunson are on the floor together, Brunson has more ball than when Luka is out... Anyhow, its good that the Knicks are retarded, cause Brunson is not worth big money anyway. He’s not worth the money, but also losing your best non-Luka asset for nothing is an absolute killer. And NY has no incentive to do a s&t because they have the Dallas pick next year, it’s in their best interest for the Mavs to be as bad as possible.

This is going to end poorly for everyone tbh. Dallas loses their 2nd best asset and get nothing in return, NY wildly overpays for a solid but non All-Star level player, and Brunson gets exposed playing in a terrible system without Luka.

They aren’t luring a second star in free agency, because nobody wants to play in Dallas. Their best shot is to trade for one, and to do that you need assets. Losing your second best asset for nothing makes it harder to get a second star.

Ayton wants to sign offer sheet with the Pacers. Will the Sons match?

...yes, and within 3 minutes. After they'd called him everything but a black person for the past 9 months. Here's the pertinent article from today. Note the very first line. tee, hee.

---------

The Phoenix Suns messed around and found out.

Last October, they did not give 23-year-old franchise center Deandre Ayton the five-year, $172.5 million max contract extension he wanted, thus making him a restricted free agent this summer. And after Ayton agreed to a four-year, $133 million offer sheet with the Indiana Pacers on Thursday, that decision is screwing them over on multiple fronts we couldn’t have imagined at the time.

As I wrote back then, not paying Ayton added unnecessary unease (https://arizonasports.com/story/2856972/phoenix-suns-add-unnecessary-unease-with-no-deandre-ayton-extension/). While it was debatable whether or not Ayton deserved the max (and I thought he did), the only logical benefit to not signing him to that deal was less money on the books. This is the reality of operating as a team over the cap, and Phoenix is now in a position where it has to match the offer sheet to not lose Ayton for nothing.
We are learning right now why this ties up the Suns so much beyond the hand-wringing process of restricted free agency and why it was foolish not to just sign him to the max, even if they believed he wasn’t worth it.

To establish the obvious, they have hesitations about Ayton. They made a point of that when they didn’t agree to terms with him last fall. So, if Phoenix had hesitations, it could have simply signed Ayton to maintain maximum flexibility and see how the next season played out. It is a different version of the reality it chose, anyway.

If those hesitations only grew stronger, the Suns could more than easily find a trade market for arguably a top-five player at his position with plenty of potential still left to tap into (and get a much better return than a sign-and-trade). If Ayton’s performance made the hesitations far weaker, great, you’ve got the center you wanted Ayton to be.

Instead, the Suns threw themselves into a position where the value of dealing Ayton would take a significant hit in sign-and-trades.
Or, in the unforeseeable portion of our ride, they take a massive blow in trade negotiations for a superstar that would like to come to Phoenix.
That is, rightfully so, the initial reaction to Ayton’s offer sheet. His future with the Suns seemed over, and even more so after news broke that Kevin Durant asked to be traded from the Brooklyn Nets.
Reports would follow in the news cycle that Brooklyn was not interested in Ayton, but Ayton being re-routed to another team and that team providing the assets to push a Durant trade over the top felt necessary.
That is speaking from a value standpoint. But also from a money standpoint now when we try and hypothetically come up with a trade not involving Ayton.
If Durant’s preference for Phoenix is strong enough to push a deal over the line even when the Suns don’t have the best offer, that means they would either have to 1) get lucky with a three/four-team deal filling in salaries or 2) gut their roster in the way general manager James Jones does not want to do.
On top of Mikal Bridges and Cam Johnson absolutely having to be in there, important names either in next year’s rotation or in trades to fill other roster needs like Jae Crowder, Dario Saric and Landry Shamet will have to feature more prominently in the discussion.

And, to go back to value, no more trying to get fewer first-round picks or pick swaps than the max allotment. That seems out the window, and again, would make it more difficult to acquire another ball-handler.
If the Ayton offer sheet is matched and Durant is brought in, Phoenix would likely be paying one of the highest luxury tax bills next season. Arizona Sports’ (https://twitter.com/Gambo987/status/1547678314256420867) John Gambadoro reports the Suns would (https://twitter.com/Gambo987/status/1547678314256420867) be willing to do that. A lack of past precedent produces skepticism.
The only other logical strand off not maxing Ayton was avoiding having the maximum of two max designated rookie-scale-contract players so they could potentially acquire one on the trade market if the opportunity arose. That was always a pipe dream, and in hindsight, the thinking was for different reasons.
As we’ve learned with the Durant sweepstakes, Ben Simmons’ max contract in Brooklyn makes things more difficult because teams cannot trade for two of those players. Ayton on that deal would have crossed him off ball clubs like the Nets with one of those guys they’ve acquired already. Sure, that makes sense. I highly doubt, though, that it would have greatly restricted Phoenix’s ability to trade Ayton.

Ever since head coach Monty Wiliams said after the Suns were eliminated that a back-and-forth with Ayton was “internal,” the penmanship for the writing on the wall regarding Ayton’s uncertain future improved.
And yet, we were always accepting the possibility that Ayton could be back. So, if he is, now what?
Ayton should be pissed there was a lack of commitment from his team that has been multiplied since extension talks. Ayton handled it very well last year with the media, speaking with a high level of professionalism and producing hardly any quotable angst on the situation.
But if he was upset and is even more this upcoming season, will it affect the chemistry of a group that gets an immeasurable boost from being such a tight bunch?
For as much as the chance of “running it back” induces eye rolls from some of the fanbase, a slightly tweaked version of last year’s roster is still a really good basketball team that could win a championship. It would not be the favorite. It would, however, be in the running. There is a lot at stake.
The title window is still open. Having Chris Paul at the age of 37 encourages a now-or-never mentality on that window.

As I wrote back then, not paying Ayton added unnecessary unease (https://arizonasports.com/story/2856972/phoenix-suns-add-unnecessary-unease-with-no-deandre-ayton-extension/)

LeBron James rips Celtics fans: 'They racist as fuck.'

Celtics fans riled up Warriors players during the NBA Finals.

LeBron James (https://www.foxnews.com/category/person/lebron-james) may have an investment in the Boston Red Sox, but that doesn’t mean he likes all of the city’s sports teams.James was talking about his least favorite cities to play in during the latest episode of his show on HBO, "The Shop." James’ business partner Maverick Carter mentioned during the conversation there were places where fans "can literally take the game from you." The Los Angeles Lakers superstar (https://www.foxnews.com/category/sports/nba/los-angeles-lakers) mentioned Boston was one of those places.

The show’s co-creator Paul Rivera asked James why he hated Boston."Because they racist as fuck, that’s why," he said. "They will say anything, and it’s fine. I mean, fuck, it’s my wife, she’s been dealing with them her whole life. I don't mind it. I hear it, if I hear someone close by, I check them real quick. I move onto the game, whatever the fuck. They going to say whatever the fuck they want to say. They might throw something. I got a beer thrown on me leaving a game."

Next we have Doncic refusing to pass to Finey-Smith who is open by literally 12 feet for a wide open trey.
Doncic instead doing some goofy off balance trey chuck for the brick.

I was hoping Dallas would emphasize faster ball movement around the perimeter more this season and giving everyone touches early in the shot clock but so far it looks like that hasn't happened. That was one of their several undoings last postseason. I admit, I like watching highlights of Doncic's playground style of embarrassing the defender while him and the bench get excited and hit the 'stanky leg' in celebration. But over the course of 48 minutes, it's still a boring/exhausting brand of basketball to take part of him as a role player IMO. Even when Doncic does pass it, still way too many possessions where he's having to give it up at the last second after holding it for 20 seconds leading to a player to force up a bad shot out of rhythm.

Doncic is going for that MVP. Whenever he’s on the court, he either scores or assists. When he’s not, it’s dinwiddie. It reminds me of the d’antoni offence in some ways, just not as fast paced.

It may work in the regular season but in the postseason, smarter teams will game plan that and shut that offence down.

I get Bird was a monster in a more competitive era and a more willing passer, and his game is more dribble heavy like Harden … but come on, when he wants to he has some Bird style passes. At this point anyone that saw Bird and see no similarity I think you full of shit.

It’s a tough thing where his supporting cast is so limited in skillset that he’s forced to play this heliocentric style to win, but also everyone knows it will fail at some point in the playoffs. It’s simultaneously their best shot at winning, and a guarantee that they won’t ever win a title.

Also there’s a legitimate question of whether he’d actually change his style up if they got a true #2 star. If he wants a ring, he has to change, but will his ego let him relinquish some control of the game?

I don’t think I said no similarities, I just think harden was a way better comparison.

Don’t get me wrong, I love doncic. I think he could be better than dirk or bird if he keeps it up. He just can’t be stopped sometimes and he does step up in the postseason, unlike harden.

I get where you’re getting the bird comparisons but I always thought that if doncic was black, nobody would bring up bird and he’d be compared to magic with scoring or harden with a better ceiling.

100% agree. The team is not well constructed to his strengths.

Tough to get a number two for him though as he would likely require a tough interior defender who can pass and shoot. Him and bam would be incredible, but there aren’t too many bam like players out there (and bam can’t shoot).

If the spurs get the number 1 or 2 pick this year, I’d trade it for doncic in a heartbeat but I’m sure Mavs won’t do it.

Never did it blindly … I’m 40 plus I saw Bird and Magic. I did not choose Bird simply because they are both white. Luka is a more aggressive scorer than Johnson more like MVP era Bird still a brilliant passer when he wants. I think Bird was the better shooter (obviously) and he scared me more in the clutch than Luka has so far … but Luka may be more skilled than either of those guys. I wish he dribbled less and passed a but more because that is the part of his game outside of the whining that I don’t like about his game.
But outside of the occasional overhead passes Luka’s ability to get to his spots at Will against guys bigger stronger faster is where I see the most of Birds imprint on his game. Sure I could choose dantley bernard king or alex English as not extremely quick guys that could get buckets to make a similar point but Bird (and Luka) is much better than those guys and most guys 30 and under don’t know who the fuck those guys are.

Actually Jokic is the one who reminds of Bird when it comes passing, not Luka

Jokic does as well I won’t lie … see it more often because he doesn’t pound the rock like Luka …but the pass the other night was more Bird like than most of the passes either guy have made. Again Rick Carlisle a guy that played with Bird has made the comp and he is white … is he being lazy with the comparison? Racist? Not sure why people find it so hard to accept? Works for RC works for me too

Bird wasn't so ball dominant. His passing came more through the natural flow of the offense. Luka has the ball so much that his passing is often a product of the defense focusing in on him so much. He's a great passer regardless, but I don't think of Bird when he makes a good pass.

I think of LeBron much more when comparing Luka to anybody. His natural talent to score is why entire defenses focus and collapse in on him, which opens up passing lanes for teammates. Both ball dominant. Both bigger, taller ball handlers. Both strong towards the basket. The difference is LeBron is more explosive athletically and Luka has more perimeter finesse with his shot making ability. I think LeBron is a better comparison for Luka than Bird.

As for Jokic, I've never seen anyone like him before. Ever. Transition game has some similarities to Magic. But really only bc he rebounds, pushes the ball, and shows a lot of creativity with his transition passing. In the halfcourt set, he's not like Magic. He's not like anyone. Post game has some Hakeem, floater like Tony Parker, midrange consistency like Malone, all while game and clock managing like CP3. He isn't like any one player. Truly a one of one.

All great points and don’t disagree minus the athleticism but lama has a better touch than Bron - like a Bird Jokic or even Steph. At the end of the day there is no perfect comp. I never said they were identical in anyway. I said some plays and the way they get to their spots reminded me of bird. Jokic plays more like bird sure but is much slower. Luka has that game speed like Bird. They fool you by being quicker than you thought … but I have said my peace …that pass the other night I had flashbacks to Bird on the Celtics. I did not think of anyone else … most of the time I see a better Harden.

Yeah he needs to swap McGee with Powell in the SL. Powell is way more mobile on D and a better lob threat and screener on O. McGee looks washed, should be used in spot minutes driven by matchups.

Wood off the bench is still the best fit. Green needs to play more. Dinwiddie running the second unit the Mavs 9-rotation should look like this. Hardy can step in when/if he’s ready later this season for more scoring punch.

Doncic
Dinwiddie/Hardaway

Agree with everything, but damn, that team looks so shit. Its Luka's 5th year and his best center for that time has been Dwight Powell, while the best second option was mostly Hardaway Jr, other than last year Brunson and Porzingis when he wasn't injured.

Lol at the idea that it's a "rush" anointment.

Kid is not a rookie. This is not the start of his sophomore NBA season. Luka's been in the league four plus seasons now and has dominated since day one. Breaking dudes hearts as a rookie. Taking a trash roster to the playoffs in his second year. Bowing up against shit talking Clippers players in his first playoff series, and frankly changing their minds in the process while dropping a 40bagger on playoff-peegee and Marcus Morris. And we just saw him take another trash roster all the way to the conference finals while dismantling the team with the best record in the league along the way.

Rush annointment?? Lol his first four years in the league compare quite favorably to LeBron's first four seasons in the league, both individually and as a team.

And it's no disparagement towards Joker or Freak. Both great players. Both deserving MVPs the years they won. It's about how great Luka is. Realizing and acknowledging it. It sounds more ridiculous not to acknowledge it tbh.

I know, I just mean that so many clearly want him to be the best player because he's white and playing the glamor role, but he's been fourth (Embiid) the past couple of seasons (yes, they're all squarely in their prime) and Harden (regular season) was basically doing the same thing a few seasons ago, yet he wasn't being incessantly slobbered over.

He also clearly gets away with a lot of antics most of the black superstars and stars don't.

They have a pretty exciting roster of young talent. Trey Murphy has star potential. Dyson Daniels has intriguing size and skill. And Alvarado has got to be related to JJ Barea. But the Pelicans as a legitimate title contending team, and not just a very good playoff team that loses in the second round every year, will still ultimately hinge on whether the scale reads 280 or less or 300+, and how that impacts Zion’s $193 million knees.

DeRozan and Lavine can't work together. Their defense is also horrible.

Bulls were a bad defense last season too. Odd as it might be to claim, they miss Lonzo Ball. Playing point guard isn’t just about breaking down a defense and getting a bunch of assists. Lonzo was good at controlling tempo, knowing when to push the ball, and getting DeRozan and LaVine the ball when and where they could score at a higher percentage, even if it didn’t result in an assist for Ball. Donovan is running out scoring guards and combo guards with DeRozan and LaVine, which ultimately means DeRozan and LaVine are the de facto point guards. Dosunmo and Caruso aren’t point guards. Coby White is more of one and probably should take more minutes from those too tbh. But he isn’t a game manager at point guard either.

What the Bulls should do is start Dragic and play him as close to 30 minutes a game as his tired old ass can possibly play. Because at least he’s a point guard, and he won’t just cower to giving it to DeRozan and LaVine every other possession.

Rob Pelinka hate cracks me the fuck up. If you accept that the Westbrook trade is the fault of Lebron/AD (which it is based on reports) and look at his work otherwise it's pretty tremendous. Especially since he is also limited to only signing Klutch Sports clients as well lmao

the sooner the Bulls realize that Zach Lavine is not really that good, the better. I'd say the same for DeRozan, but that suicide watch faggot has been fooling the league for years with his loser mentality. Clear example of players that will win a ring only when they get old and benched.

I mean Josh Hart, Kuzma, Brandon Ingram, Caruso, Lonzo (didn't have injury problems when drafted), Reeves, etc. are all good to exceptional acquisitions
.

Lavine seems hampered by injuries this year, but yes if he is going down the McGrady road due to injuries they need to dump him now while he still has value

even without the injuries he's still too selfish and plays zero defense. The Bulls will soon once again be in rebuild mode, even tho they thought they have a team that can make it out of the east.

I don’t know tbh. Kind of like last year, I don’t believe organizationally they care if they win or lose games. But I don’t think they’re purposefully or proactively trying to lose games... likely not until probably February or March.

Early in the season, they dealt with a few minor injuries to a few key players mostly in the frontcourt, so they were getting killed in the paint and on the glass. Now, Cade Cunningham is done for the season with a shin injury that’s going to require surgery. But it’s coincided with a stretch of games where Killian Hayes has looked like a legitimate starting NBA guard when just a month ago I’ll tell you most Pistons fans thought he was destined to play in Europe as soon as the end of this season. They’ve played a lot better recently and have been competitive even against much better teams. They just have a very difficult time closing games. They’re young. And the franchise guy they’ve pegged as the closer for those situations, Cunningham, is out with an injury. Bojan Bogdanovic is a dog though. Love his game. He can play for my team any day.

I don’t think they’re in full tank mode. They’re not a good bet any given night, if that’s what you’re asking. Every once in a while, they’ll beat a much better team. They should have beat the Nets last night. Except Kevin Durant up and decided to drop a 26-banger in the 3rd quarter.

Donkey's stat line vs Pacers - 1 point in 27 minutes :lol

Donkey's competing with Pat Bev to see who's the biggest bum still starting for an nba team :lol

These two have laid out the blueprint for the average scrub to have a decent nba career.

- Be loud
- Run your mouth non-stop
- Don't worry about improving your shooting
- Pretend your active on defense
2 points
4 rebounds
in 23 minutes tonight.

87 Golden Phaggots
112 Golden Phaggots East Nets

people still trying to pretend a 4x all star, 2x all nba, 7x all defensive player is a scrub because sometimes his offensive numbers are low volume :lol

Draymond?

Interesting part is so far this season, every single one of his statistics has decreased EXCEPT points and shooting percentage. But his role is the glue guy not scorer.
