Maybe in video form it's not as bad but based on the text that reaction by Vassell ain't normal, imo. Especially nine games into his career. He's still a novelty. He's still facing a lot of teams/players for the first time. And he's the next mega star for the league, that's just the reality. Doesn't matter if the amount of questions do get annoying responding like that is just strange. Doesn't help that many people are also noticing that the team is failing to get him the ball in advantageous situations. If there's any correlation between the two that's absolutely terrible for the growth of the team, tbh.

Hubbie Brown too in the Knicks game. I think anyone that knows anything at all about basketball thinks Wemby should be the focal point. I also think they would not be impressed by the coach that just sits there and shoots the shit with the opposing teams every night they lose.

Its not at all though. This is what happens when you have talents the caliber of Wemby. This is what happened with Lebron, this is what happened with Zion. I definitely get the feeling from Vassell that he doesn't like the focus being so much on Wemby. He had a quote last year that he didn't want to hear about tanking for Wemby early in the year because they were about winning last year and not tanking. Look, I like that he's got a bit of a fight in him, but honestly the sooner the other Spurs recognize their role in the pecking order the better. This is Wemby's team and while Vassel can be a damn good player in the future he's never going to lead a team to the title. I don't know that I want that level of understanding from him, but at some point he needs to recognize that Wemby is the draw and will always shine brighter than him.

They’re not trading Vassell, and yes, it would be annoying to have nearly every question be about Victor. It’s not immaturity, it’s frustration. He’s having a great year, shooting the 3 ball well, getting to the line, and they ask about Victor. He’s just returned from an injury, and they ask about Victor. PLENTY of other things they can talk to Devin about.
