Trevino was horrible to start but has really turned things around. If this ragtag outfit wins the Summer League championship, I think he deserves a spot on the bench for the big club.

This is a well-organized and coached summer league team.

I always like Cissoko’s defense especially his motor (including his court vision). If he could work on his offense would be great.

If Sidy's offense could be 1/10 as competent as his defense he might really have a chance to be special. Sadly his offense is 1/20 as good as his defense. Maybe.

Not sure if this is the coach shielding Sidy from offensive criticism or they really just want him focusing on defense.

I have to say, I was not at all hyped about this SL team outside of Castle. I was pretty interested in Minix, but as you said he got hurt early.
But that Minix game last night and Donovan Williams have been bright spots with what they’ve shown and the team has really focused and battled which is shocking based on what we saw before Vegas.
Spurs have 2 2way spots left right?

Honest question because I haven’t seen much of Bouyea outside of this summer, but tell me in what ways T Jones is better than Bouyea?

I was thinking something similar but not Tre Jones, Blake Wesley lol
What Bouyea has done in these summer league games I’m almost certain Blake Wesley would not be capable of doing.

Now you know the difference between floor and upside. Bouyea at his best is slightly better than Wesley on an average day. Wesley would not be capable of doing what Bouyea did against NBA talent. But Blake would score 30 in these games.

I guess I was just wondering if this is the way he always plays or has it been something new, because dude jumps off the screen to me in many ways.

The way that he has played well in the NBA. Jamaree has improved, no doubt. He might be good enough to make a regular roster now.

There doesn't seem to be much of a path next season (barring injury) for Bouyea to do much in San Antonio. He's just got too many players ahead of him: Chris Paul, Stephon Castle, Tre Jones.
I've openly wondered if the Spurs let him out of his 2-way so he can pursue a training camp invite with a team looking for a 3rd string PG.

True enough. I would add that having a competent PG in Austin is critical for developing other players there. Nothing really works if they don't have one. I absolutely want the Spurs to keep him until they get someone else to run the show there. And who knows? Chris Paul is a one-season or less player, and a continued ascension by Jamaree might make Tre's contract moveable. At present I'll take a temporary logjam of four competent point guards to last year's one. Wesley absolutely is on the hot seat.

bouyea seems like a more mature, less explosive wesley
not sure where we have room for him with Paul/Tre already there, Castle vying for some PG minutes, and Wesley still hanging around

Bouyea has 4 years of playing experience (25 years old vs 21 years old) on Blake; it's not surprising his game is more together. I'd doubt they're going to throw over Blake for Bouyea. Darkwaters might have the right of it; that would leave them with 2 two-way slots (Harrison occupying the 3ed). In this case, I'd guess one each for Minix and Williams. However, I think Chump has a point about Austin needing a competent PG...
Might it make sense for Castle to do a lot of shuttling back and forth between Austin and SA? It would get him a lot more reps as actual PG, rather than playing beside Chris Paul and Tre Jones (both of whom I think Pop likes and will find minutes for).

i defiinetely wouldnt choose Bouyea over Wesley for the current spurs. i wouldnt exercise wesley's option, but id definitely rather have a year of him auditioning one more time to show he's at least on the right trajectory than give garbage minutes to a finished product doing solidly well in summer league

Did anybody else see the game before Spurs/Pelicans?
It was Trailblazers/Wizards. I was watching, waiting for our game to start, and saw J. Champagnie running around in a Wizards uniform. Thought I was losing my mind.
I totally forgot that his twin brother, Justin Chapagnie, is currently on a 2-way with Washington.

I attended the last quarter of the Blazers/Wizards game.
The story was Sarr who underperformed dramatically.
Until you see a player in person, you can't see all there is. Perhaps that's why teams still send actual folks to watch these crazy games all over the world.
TV (or highlights) cannot substitute.
Sarr (whom I liked) seemed to move around the court with no purpose -- you just can't see that until you're free to watch a player rather than the ball, the only thing TV follows.
His rebounding for a guy that tall was not good, consistently getting beat by guys 6" shorter even when he had position on those guys.
He still has the tools but but it looks doubtful (did say he could bust and his downside was Wiseman and now that looks more possible).
It's too early to give up but it's not looking great. Hang in there Sarr.

Yeah the pressure the two Frenchies are going to face is going to be brutal it’s a reason I think Sarr didn’t want to go first to Atlanta by not working out for them. But like any kid being drafted you have to give them 2 or 3 years before you write them off as a bust.

The twins used to have pretty different looks, but now they both kind of wear the same hair and beard, like twins in elementary school trying to fool the teacher.

sarr was going to be a cracker if paired with wemby, but as a regular center, he's very likely to bust or at least take 4+ years to develop.

Minix is one of the best pure shooters I've seen in a while.
Most impressively, he was hitting contested threes with guys in his face.
He also fits the Spurs' MO for acquiring shooters -- by not using draft picks on them.
Like Forbes, Champagnie, etc.
The Spurs seem to draft guys who are strongest in areas other than shooting and pick up their shooters on the cheap -- hopefully Minix is the next in line.

he made 35% of his 3pointers at morehead state last year. to be fair, he did shoot in the 40's in his first 3 years at *checks notes* southeastern university
dno about "one of the best pure shooters" anyone has seen in a while. based on what, one summer league game?
i like him, think he's worth a 2-way spot, but apply the brakes a little

Yeah, I really loved the idea of Sarr and Wemby playing ping pong on the offensive glass -- both using their speed as well as their size.
But I saw Sarr a couple times in Vegas and he just didn't seem like the same guy I had been so crazy about before.
He needs to become more engaged and regain his confidence. On the other hand, many have overcome disappointing SL stints.

The thing that impressed was Minix's form, his confident/efficient shooting motion even when contested -- you actually can discern that from one game.
But I take your point, we'll have to see how he does going forward.

ill grant that his form is pristine
he's a pretty weird player. i havent watched much of him admittedly, but from compilation/highlight videos he has a really weird/interesting junk game down in the post as well. footwork, fadeaways, etc. really seems like he was an undersized PF at morehead state as opposed to a shooting wing. very high volume rebounder as well. not sure he can survive down there at the NBA level though given his size, so his perimeter game, and by extension, ability to defend out on the perimeter, is going to be big for him

i just never considered him as a double figures scorer, he's completely inept at everything but dunking in the open space, kind of like cissoko.. but as a pure defender defending wemby's weak side... illegal

He also had 4 assists in 20 minutes, for what it's worth (possibly helping him to play more on the perimeter).

I thought Sarr had a pretty nice 10 foot pop shot on the move but the Wizards just had him standing at the three point line looking forlorn and confused.

another thing that will help him survive as a perimeter player is expediting his jumper. while the top of his form is crisp, he has a pretty slow gather and dips the ball almost all the way to his knees before rising up. that may work if you are being defending by a big who is helping off you, but to get shots off over quicker contests, he has the speed the process up some

Are you really criticizing them that some of their 2-way deals didn't work out (Jabari Rice, Dominick Barlow)? Or that a guy that was a toss-in to a trade isn't a long-term contributor (Cedi Osman, Devontae Graham)?
How many 2-ways do you think develop into long-term contributors? How many guys that are included in trades purely for salary purposes become long-term staples on a team (other than Matt Bonner)?
That's some pretty weak sauce.

And the guy defends. I think he averages 1 block a game. I think he’s a scrappy player who knows how to score and motor to play D. I like his size, length at SG/SF. His shots look good. I mean we need good shooters!
