Dat ball boy is the best summer league coach since Becky, tbh.
Not a high bar, tbh.
Trevino was horrible to start but has really turned things around. If this ragtag outfit wins the Summer League championship, I think he deserves a spot on the bench for the big club.
This is a well-organized and coached summer league team.
I always like Cissoko’s defense especially his motor (including his court vision). If he could work on his offense would be great.
If Sidy's offense could be 1/10 as competent as his defense he might really have a chance to be special. Sadly his offense is 1/20 as good as his defense. Maybe.
Not sure if this is the coach shielding Sidy from offensive criticism or they really just want him focusing on defense.
I have to say, I was not at all hyped about this SL team outside of Castle. I was pretty interested in Minix, but as you said he got hurt early.
But that Minix game last night and Donovan Williams have been bright spots with what they’ve shown and the team has really focused and battled which is shocking based on what we saw before Vegas.
Spurs have 2 2way spots left right?
If I had to guess Harrison + Minix land 2 ways with SA?
Honest question because I haven’t seen much of Bouyea outside of this summer, but tell me in what ways T Jones is better than Bouyea?
I was thinking something similar but not Tre Jones, Blake Wesley lol
What Bouyea has done in these summer league games I’m almost certain Blake Wesley would not be capable of doing.
nice to see the squad playing so compe ively.
Now you know the difference between floor and upside. Bouyea at his best is slightly better than Wesley on an average day. Wesley would not be capable of doing what Bouyea did against NBA talent. But Blake would score 30 in these games.
Yup. It’s not even a question in my mind that he’s better than Blake. I guess I was just wondering if this is the way he always plays or has it been something new, because dude jumps off the screen to me in many ways.
The way that he has played well in the NBA. Jamaree has improved, no doubt. He might be good enough to make a regular roster now.
There doesn't seem to be much of a path next season (barring injury) for Bouyea to do much in San Antonio. He's just got too many players ahead of him: Chris Paul, Stephon Castle, Tre Jones.
I've openly wondered if the Spurs let him out of his 2-way so he can pursue a training camp invite with a team looking for a 3rd string PG.
Who said the Spurs can’t scout talent anymore? This group, sans our lottery pick, is playing pretty well.
It is hilarious to see the change in reactions to Trevino on here. Never change, people
True enough. I would add that having a competent PG in Austin is critical for developing other players there. Nothing really works if they don't have one. I absolutely want the Spurs to keep him until they get someone else to run the show there. And who knows? Chris Paul is a one-season or less player, and a continued ascension by Jamaree might make Tre's contract moveable. At present I'll take a temporary logjam of four competent point guards to last year's one. Wesley absolutely is on the hot seat.
bouyea seems like a more mature, less explosive wesley
not sure where we have room for him with Paul/Tre already there, Castle vying for some PG minutes, and Wesley still hanging around
Bouyea has 4 years of playing experience (25 years old vs 21 years old) on Blake; it's not surprising his game is more together. I'd doubt they're going to throw over Blake for Bouyea. Darkwaters might have the right of it; that would leave them with 2 two-way slots (Harrison occupying the 3ed). In this case, I'd guess one each for Minix and Williams. However, I think Chump has a point about Austin needing a competent PG...
Might it make sense for Castle to do a lot of shuttling back and forth between Austin and SA? It would get him a lot more reps as actual PG, rather than playing beside Chris Paul and Tre Jones (both of whom I think Pop likes and will find minutes for).
i defiinetely wouldnt choose Bouyea over Wesley for the current spurs. i wouldnt exercise wesley's option, but id definitely rather have a year of him auditioning one more time to show he's at least on the right trajectory than give garbage minutes to a finished product doing solidly well in summer league
Did anybody else see the game before Spurs/Pelicans?
It was Trailblazers/Wizards. I was watching, waiting for our game to start, and saw J. Champagnie running around in a Wizards uniform. Thought I was losing my mind.
I totally forgot that his twin brother, Justin Chapagnie, is currently on a 2-way with Washington.
He makes $10M guaranteed.
