ST couldn't stomach when i predicted that the spurs would be trash. and they proceeded to be garbage, for years.

years later i say the spurs will be decent ... and ST was team tank :lmao

posted this before the season started, castle didn't look anything in preseason like he does now:

castle can ball. keep cp3, barnes, castle, wemby. make a big trade.

and guess what happened tonight ... the spurs beat the warriors without keldon. without vassell. without sochan. all players i was fine with being moved.

Right?

It's crazy that Spurs had to be terrible, for years, to get top picks. Picks with which they could get good players.

I doubt that anyone without your superior powers of prescience could've predicted this.

i said the spurs would become trash while they had the #1 record in the division. that sent ST into convulsions. and then i was right.

i said this roster would make the POs before the season started. again, ST disgreed.

and now they're wowed.

I'm gonna make a bold prediction that Warriors and Cavs will become trash in the future.

I'll make sure to pat myself on the back in a few years when this prediction inevitably comes true.

This shit is cyclical. It's how the Sport works. Spurs were lucky that Nephew gave us a relatively seamless transition, but that is a rare exception.

emphasis, mine. you have the warriors and the cavs going from #1 in their division to last, in the course of the same season ?? that's what i predicted.

You talking about the "worst future thread"?

Spurs were percentage points behind Memphis when you made that post. So #2 in the division.

And Dallas was .5 games behind Spurs.

Pretty much the entire Division was the definition of mediocre at the time, with Memphis, Dallas and NO already having their Super Star players via tanking in the Draft.

Yeah bro... you displayed some real foresight here.

post the standing from the date i posted that thread, then the standing from the date that season ended.

either way, ST was NUTS about me being wrong--which i wasn't.

point being that ST thought the spurs were capable of ... anything.

looking at the thread is checkmate.

spurs probably finished above the rockets for years, but if that's your measure of success then i'll take it.

You were immediately proven wrong on all counts, so you decided to go straight back to this...

me: the spurs will become trash
ST: NO
spurs: do

Which as discussed, is how the league works. You eventually become trash -> You get high picks -> You get Superstars -> You are good until Superstar leaves or gets old... rinse & repeat.

Where’s the big trade?

The premise of the poll is to either mortgage the future to win now or wait. The spurs waited without mortgaging the future, which is literally opposite from your premise, like WTF?

ambchang
11-24-2024, 08:59 AM
i'm all for mortgaging the future. spurs the #6 seed rn. wemby just won a silver medal.

the mavs with luka, irving (:lol), and a trade for role players made finals. the mavs even had a weak roster outside of a handful of players.

i don't want to the spurs to keep getting younger. add an all-star, a solid role player and let's go.

i'm down to overpay for brandon ingram. more will be available after the season starts.

spurs didn't tank when they had a healthy duncan. and they're not landing a tony parker or manu ginobili late in the draft.

i think the nuggets are winning it all ... but i'd rather establish a winning culture by losing in the WCFs than in the 1st round.

shoot for the moon. push the chips in. wemby is the man.

None of these happened. In fact, the opposite did. The spurs waited with their own picks add minor piece with salary management. Didn’t trade ANY future capital (in fact got more in the Barnes trade). So mortgage what?

Amb, bringing the receipts.

IMO, the Spurs need to make one, relatively moderate, trade that doesn’t mortgage (or really even impact) the future, this year. I’ll bring those to the Trade Ideas thread.

it's just bad luck.

spurs are mid. it's like demar is still on the team.

gambit1990

spurs "can't" mortgage the future from a business standpoint.

this season is a loss. they are mid. which means no high draft pick. spurs have to start over again next season, without cp3.

just some page one yikes:

I’m team tank

Now that there is no Markkanen to the Spurs buzz, I vote wait.

Agree

Next year's draft is stacked. Be patient for just one more year. Trying to build a dynasty team here should be the goal not a fringe playoff team.

One more win to equal last year’s win total. From there we should not be looking to win more than another 8-10 games.
