I hear you!
I must say this year was the second one when after the big fireworks displays and firecrackers salvoes at midnight (that lasted roughly one hour) things went quite and remained that way. It's the result of an agreement we all came to in the little village I live in and it's nice to see that people are respecting it.
One of the main reasons for the agreement was that most dogs really freak out at the sound of fireworks - which I always found sort of ironic since people couldn't stop acting as idiots for the sake of fellow humans, but they can for the dogs :lol.

I thought they banned fireworks statewide in Texas this year because of the fires?

i forgot that the gay ass state of nc didnt sell fireworks til after i got drunk last ngiht and wanted to buy some. by then it was to late to make the 2 hr drive to sc. we also dont have a lttery here, but i think they just voted for one and its about to start up soon. :rolleyes
We did fireworks. Despite our best attempts, we did not blow up or burn down anything. Except the few boxes we tossed the Black Cat bricks into. But those had it comming.
Horray for country living!

Is it just me or are firecrackers a guy thing? I do not see the appeal whatsoever. I absolutely love going to the park on Independence Day and watching the big fireworks display, but the goofy little things that just whizz around in the street and make noise? I don't get it.

Because you don't realize how exponentially cooler those firecrackers are when you combine them with more of the afore-mentioned "goofy little things" and ghetto-rig the fuses together with scotch tape and alcohol. Watching a shooting firework forceibly become a ground effect firework become the ringing sensation in your ears is hard to explain until you see the joy for yourself.

I'm setting of now to go out 281 North to buy my stock of Playoff/Finals fireworks.
Also, any exceptional season victories (like Spurs@Suns last Jan) merit pyrotechnics.
A danger is the extreme dryness in SA.

Don't waste your time...they closed them all down last night. Any of them caught selling fireworks until the ban is lifted will go to jail. At least that's what happened in Comal county.
User might be willing to cut you a deal on the truckload we still have that we didn't get to shoot off. :depressed
Last night I discovered the hilarity in tossing bricks (10k count+) of black cats into a box and lighting one fuse.
Also I discovered that sparklers, while innocent-looking and relatively harmless, can create quite the fireball if you light multiple dozens at once.
Using this knowledge, July 4th is going to be one hell of a time. I may not live to be legal.

We set off an 8,000 ct roll at midnight .... and funny, they tied together 5 or 6 boxes of sparklers and set them off together, too. It was awesome...fast, but awesome. :tu :lol

SW,
Out 281, there were several open. I stopped at the first one outside the city limits about about 4:45. Some "ministry" angle, firecrackers for Christ. Whatever hustle moves the merchandise. :) Today is their last day.
I'm loaded for another 48-pt OT game from Manu, or double OTs, Bring 'em On! :)
Horry For 3!

I didn't hear too many fireworks here mostly because the damn grass is really dry.
I was driving back from Sacramento and it was really cool because every where in the sky there were fireworks, pretty cool.

I don't mind really...I'd be doing it if I had firecrackers but with my luck my neighbor would call the police on me.
And it was you who said I lived on the EAST side.

I was on the West Side last year and the entire neighborhood was out in the street popping firecrackers from like 9pm to 2am. It was awesome!

Nah, I looooove me some fireworks. I like twisting all kinds of stuff together and lighting it all at once and see what happens. Some people like it, some don't, I don't think it's just a guy or a girl thing, fireworks are fun for the entire family :D
