I hear you!
I must say this year was the second one when after the big fireworks displays and firecrackers salvoes at midnight (that lasted roughly one hour) things went quite and remained that way. It's the result of an agreement we all came to in the little village I live in and it's nice to see that people are respecting it.
One of the main reasons for the agreement was that most dogs really freak out at the sound of fireworks - which I always found sort of ironic since people couldn't stop acting as idiots for the sake of fellow humans, but they can for the dogs.
