Thats how I approached the last season. Its really just a soap opera on testosterone.

I really wish they'd kill the romance BS though. God I hate that.

^I've watched season 1 and season 5, missed seasons 2,3 & 4.

Any recommendations on which seasons out of 2,3 and 4 to watch first? Should I just watch them in order? Any suggestions from 24 fans appreciated, also pumped up for season 6 to start!

huh???

no the most unrealistic thing ive ever seen on 24 was landing the plane on the freeway outside LA.

That highway isn't that alone at 3 in the morning, let alone whenever they did it.

I don't remember much of Season 2, but Season 3 (I believe that's the one with the chemical outbreak in the hotel) was one of my favorites, but Season 4 kicked ass. Marwan owns.

He wasn't just an aid to Palmer, he is Palmer's brother so it's not that unrealistic that he could be the next president.

Things to remember:

1) Your Muslim friend might be a terrorist.
2) If the FBI arrests a Muslim who actually is innocent, it is only because one of his family members is the real terrorist.
3) Your seemingly hateful and bigoted anti-Muslim neighbor actually is right.
4) By keeping your seemingly hateful and bigoted neighbor from beating the crap out of your Muslim friend, your place the blood of innocents on your hands when your Muslim friend blows himself up.
5) Your Muslim friend actually hates you because you cannot pronounce his name with an Arabic accent.
6) A well-dressed, professional-looking Muslim is that much likelier to be a terrorist.
7) The only person who can tell the difference between a good Muslim and a bad Muslim is Jack Bauer, and he is a fictional character.

Sleep tight, kids, and don't forget to look under your bed for Muslims!

I have a question -- 2:00 left in the fourth quarter, Tom Brady is driving for the winning score. Jack Bauer is the only player on defense.

What happens?
Jack rips his hands off with his mouth and runs it in with the ball, and Tom Brady's bloody hand still attached to it, to the endzone and wins.

My thoughts on the first four hours:
1. Nukes? Again?!?! And these dopes managed to get their hands on five? Come on.
2. After 5 years of never being wrong people still bother to ask Jack questions.
3. The president gets screwed on the first deal he cut with Fayed, so he makes another. Grrrrrr. Not liking President Palmer 2.0.
4. Jack cries every day, we all know that, but he did it earlier than ever this year. Used to be it'd be at the towards the end of the season. Then he cried when Tony died last year around hour 15, and now it's at the end of hour 4. Possible shark jumping warning there.
5. I honestly was surprised that they killed Curtis. I figured Jack would have to shoot him in the leg or something.
6. I give it 6 weeks tops before Kim or Audrey shows up and I really hope they get shot too.

I'm enjoying this season a lot more than last season so far, mainly because I've lowered my expectations. I've accepted the fact that getting across Los Angeles takes 5 minutes for some people and 45 minutes for others. I've accepted the fact that people at CTU will be hung up on romantic relationships during a national crisis. I've gotten used to the "Civil Rights Issues for Beginners" level of editorializing in the writing.

I'm approaching this season like I would approach watching a James Bond movie, and so far I love it.

This season you could probably just jump right in and make plenty of sense of who the people are and what their relationships to each are, however a few of these people have been around for a few seasons and in the case of the president have roots stretching back to the very first season. If you want to get caught up in a hurry there are plenty of websites where you can get episode recaps for the entire show. If you want some humor thrown in with it I recommend televisionwithoutpity.com.

I was pissed when Jack shot Curtis last night. Not because of the fact that I liked Curtis, but because I never got a chance to predict this would happen. I saw it coming, and I didn't tell anyone, so I lost the opportunity to say "I told you so."

With that in mind, here are my predictions for the rest of Season 6. I have not pulled these from any other sources, nor have I read any spoilers or 24 fansites. That's not how I roll.

- Assad, while not working in cooperation with Fayed, is part of a much larger terrorist plot which will be revealed when Fayed is dead.

- The President will be led to believe that Tom Lennox is somehow working with the Terrorists (or the Bluetooth guys), but will later find out that his insubordinance was simply his Neocon ideology taking hold of his judgment. Stupid Neocons.

- New York City and Washington DC are targets for two of the remaining suitcase bombs.

- Milo is the father of Chloe's baby.

- Morris is a mole.

- Bill Buchanan will be killed. Possibly by Morris.

- At the end of Season 6, Kim will finally die. Audrey will not die, but she will come close after suffering injuries as a result of being taken hostage.

Assad, while not working in cooperation with Fayed, is part of a much larger terrorist plot which will be revealed when Fayed is dead.

I've already called that one earlier in the thread. Like I said, Assad will double cross Jack/CTU, and then there will be the moment where Jack realizes he killed Curtis for nothing.

Not much of a reach on the cities targeted. I'm also beginning to think Morris is a mole...

It will also be interesting to see the dynamic play out between Walid and Palmer's sister. I think Walid will end up getting more info. out of the guys in the holding facility, but she won't pass on the info. because it wasn't obtained legally or some bullshit like that.

Maybe even info. that would have stopped a bomb going off in say D.C. that ends up killing her brother. Something twisted like that.

- At the end of Season 6, Kim will finally die. Audrey will not die, but she will come close after suffering injuries as a result of being taken hostage.

Some bold predictions there.
-I think Assad will actually pick up where Fayed leaves off. Despite Jack's best efforts and a presidential pardon either someone at CTU or Peter McNichol will have Assad detained and tortured. In light of the fact that those actions will countermand a presidential pardon Assad will believe the orders came straight from the president. He'll lose faith in a peaceful political approach and go back to terrorism.

-I'm with you on Tom Lennox. I think he is in cahoots with the blue toothers but it will turn out that they're just using his crazy neocon ass for something bigger.

-DC is definitely a target. NYC? Maybe. If it is it'll be the sort of thing where they have to work their asses off to get its location in New York and Jack will get a phone call later saying the FBI got it. I don't think any more nukes go off today. My way-too-specific-dark-horse-prediction: CTU will believe the last nuke is in LA. They'll track it down but not in time. The timer hits zero and...nothing. Turns out it was a red herring and the real one is in DC.

-Milo as Chloe's baby daddy is the exact sort of stupid side plot that would fill those middle hours well. It's not Kim and the Cougar, but it's close.

-Morris as a mole seems plausible. True to mole form he won't have a clue what the bad guys were up to, he just took the money and gave them a window of access.

-Buchanan in a body bag was on my mind at the start of the season but after Curtis got killed my gut is betting on Karen Hayes instead. No good reason, just my gut.

-I hope you're right about Kim. I hate her.

Donald Sutherland as Jack's dad would have been too cool. Although Cromwell has some potential too. He had that proper air of a father figure and a menacing a-hole in LA Confidential. At some point CTU will be led to believe Nadia is a mole when they find out that someone at CTU has been contacted about reprogramming the other bombs. Her use of Milo's username will be evidence of this, as well as her ethnic background.

Nadia is going to be a mole. The producers did their P.C. pennance by making the lead inside the detention center a bust and Walid getting his ass kicked, so now all the viewers see that locking up Muslims isn't necessarily a good idea. Plus they spent the entire last hour building sympathy for Nadia. The more I think about it the less I think there will be a second mole, however. Here's how I see it play out:

Morris is the programmer McCarthy is trying to track down. The illegal satellite he was controlling in the first few hours let us know that he's had some shady dealings in the past, hence why his name is in McCarthy's rolodex, but McCarthy also said that they'd probably have to force him to do it so I doubt he's on the take. Nadia kidnaps Chloe to force Morris' hand, and is able to keep Milo in the dark because she can play him like a fiddle.

I actually did. The next time James Cromwell doesn't play a role in which he double-crosses the double-cross would be the first time.

This has been driving me nuts. Can anyone tell me who the hell the actress is that plays Rita, McCarthy's girlfriend? She looks very familiar but I can't place it.

The question is: who's going to plug the old man? Will Jack end up doing it? Apparently, the dad is behind everything, so it will definitely be interesting.

Of course, I think Jack is getting soft since he didn't kill the brother himself.

I think the actor who played agent Pierce is coming out in the movie Transformers. If you've seen the trailer, he's the guy who tells the helicopter pilot to land. The chopper then starts to transforms into a Deceptecon(sp?).

The plot of this show is unrealistic. Had Islamic terrorists actually successfully detonated a nuclear weapon in the United States, we would be systematically exterminating the ummah.

Also, we use larger drill bits than that Fayed guy. What a wuss.

It might, now that the old man has the grandson. Next week is going to be great, and a perfect opportunity for Jack to reclaim his "baddest man on the planet" title. :)

The only gripe I have so far is the whole "Palmer is a weak prez., let's assassinate him" storyline they've got going now. And what do you want to bet they take Assad down with him, and frame it as a suicide attack by him on the president?

Plus, another hit on a Palmer president? Come on...

Other than that, so far pretty exciting season. Can't wait to see Jack go off on pop next week when he learns he was behind the hit attempt.

Wonder what mookie thinks about the Russians framing the Arabs on this nuke plot.

So, CTU can find a car on satellite in 2 minutes but they can't find a helicopter?

WTF?

(I love this show.)

The last 3 hours of this season have really sucked. I don't get how anyone can say this is the best season since anything. I thought I could keep putting aside the obvious and flagrant plot holes in favor of enjoying the show, but I think the writers of the show have really started to degenerate horribly. I'm to the point of expecting Jack to come out with a fucking cape and brandish Wolverine claws at the same time. It just really starts to eat at me when they don't make any attempt to make it plausible anymore. Yeah, it was ok for awhile, but in the beginning of the series they made things far more believeable.

Actually, all of that aside, I think the cast for this season is horribly weak. They've finally killed off everyone I like, and the entire CTU team sucks outside of Chloe and Jack. And Chloe's part has been minimal this year. Jack's dad sucks, Jack's extended family sucks, and the new Palmer REALLY sucks. The personalities just aren't nearly as compelling as they've been in the past. Who is there to really like or really hate the way you hated Nina etc etc.

I was singing the praises of the show prior to the last 3 hours because there was more action and some good plot twists, but the crap over the past 3 hours has just been so terrible it is really starting to grate on me. The nuke novelty wore off pretty fast.

Jack is so mighty and powerful, he can disarm a nuclear bomb in a matter of moments. I wasn't paying attention, but how the hell did they get the schematics of the bombs circuitry?

MannyIsGod

They didn't bother explaining that. Or any of the other 23483082508245 plot holes.

I'm feeling a sense of hatred for Tom Lennox, but that's just because I like civil rights.

What's actually getting to me (and yes, I know Jack's not gonna bite it) is that the previews for the next week are actually giving everything away.

That would make sense I guess. Now that I think about it, it was a Russian made bomb.
