These is one bad team right now, they never should have broken up the core in the offseason. The whole East is bad this year, we all knew the Pistons would be good again but with Larry brown out not this good. The Pacers were supposed to be contenders again with Artest back obviously that has gone to hell. The Heat to me look like they have no chemistry at all. I don't know what the hell they expected bringing in absolute disasters like Walker and Williams. The damn Pistons are going to laugh their way to the NBA finals again this year.

The Spurs have yet to show their true form. At the end of March everybody will know what this Spurs team is capable of.

Which would beg the question "WTF was Pat Riley thinking about when he broke up last years squad?" It's hard to believe that a veteran coach/GM looked at years team, panicked and completely overhauled it with this collection of older, offensive-minder players. None of whom have either a history of winning (J-Will, Toine, Posey) nor the defensive intensity that Riles likes in his players.

Hopefully the Spurs won't make the same mistake as Orlando and get rid of Grant Hill Jr. before its to late.

Dude... thanks very much, I haven't opened it up yet...

I regret not being able to take you out while you were here.. I just couldn't get anything scheduled and trying to prepare a house to be sold is crazy time...

Hopefully you will come back soon.

The heat will get better as the season goes and will be dangerous in the playoffs. That is all they care about and still get Detroit at Miami twice.

LMAO no freakn way, pistons will destroy them in 5 games, this years piston is different from last year, they have improve on offense and their defense hasnt decline yet, they have all the answers for the heat, they can contained the heat, but can the heat stop this improve pistons team from scorin?

Miami traded away deadly 3pt shooting for mediocre 3th shooting. It's as simple as that.

"I need STARS! BIG names! Merchandise-movers!!! I know how to win titles, I've done it before, and you do it with STARS!!"

HTH,

PS- in another laugher, I just googled Riley, and found this gem from his agent: "Suave, handsome, intense yet apparently unflappable, Pat Riley is probably the most celebrated basketball coach in the world." ( http://www.wma.com/pat_riley/summary/ )

Antoine Walker no longer qualifies as overrated. Everyone knows he sucks. I almost feel bad for him seeing the Miami crowd boo him almost every time he touches the ball.

I got news for you. The Heat are as good as they're going to get. That team has "0" chemistry and a bunch of parts that don't fit together.

Even if, by some miracle, they do get better Detroit will "wax their asses" in whatever round they meet - if they're fortunate enough to get past the first round of the playoffs.

Oh, Gee!!

I usually hate to dismiss teams this early in the season, but I have to disagree with you. Shaq is basically playing (and will forever remain) at 60%. He is no match for Wallace Squared. That leaves D-Wade as the only viable option to beat Detroit, b/c White Chocolate, Twoine Twoine, and the rest will fold like oragami come playoffs.

Anyone think if the Heat had stayed intact and kept the same team from last year, they'd have a chance to seriously contend with the Pistons for the ECF championship?

I think they could have if pistons still ran their old offense. but with this years offense they couldn't nor this new group can. Although Heat would be tougher with last years squad.

:lol no fucking way. Even the Spurs can't compete w/Pistons right now. The Heat would be better w/last years squad, but they would still get crushed by Pistons.

There is still a lot to be determined about the Heat. For some odd reason, I think they'll end up beating the Pistons in the playoffs, due to their lack of inside presence this season (Wallace squared aren't playing nearly as well as they did last year, and their defense is not as strong as it was last season).

The Heat have to gel, and they have to gel quickly. Remember, the Heat were essentially the better team in ECF 2005 last season, and only fell to the Pistons due to a Shaq leg injury, and a Wade rib cage injury. It should be very interesting to see how things pan out.

But I do agree with other posters, in that the Heat made too many changes that really hurt them defensively. They miss a defensive player like Eddie Jones who could chase swingmen players through screens (read: Rip Hamilton), and cause them problems. They also severely miss the three point shooting of Damon Jones.

And where is Christian Laettner???

Might be the same "odd reason" that has you thinking the lottery-bound Lakers still "rule"?

And where is Christian Laettner???

CONFIRMATION! You've got something odd going on upstairs.

I'll allow that Laettner does look much better in red and black than he did in teal and maroon, but that's only because it means he's not taking up a valuable locker in the Palace anymore.

Seeing as how the Lakers have 14 NBA titles under their name, I think my moniker (which I didn't even come up with) is appropriate.

Anyhow, let's not hijack this thread, and stay on task, OK? Let's talk about the issues at hand.

Ben Wallace is having a better year than last year, but averages 1.4 ppg less with 2 less shots and shooting 50% compared to 45% last year, and has upped his FT% from 43% to 48%(:)) The only other stat that has gone down is BPG, by a whopping .1

Rasheed is also having a better all around year than last year. His shooting percentages have raised on everything. 45%fg compared to 44% last year, 41%3pt compared to 32% last year, 71%ft from 70% last year. His steals are up .4, turnovers are down, he is averaging 1.5 less boards(although he seems to be improving), having his 2nd best assist year in his career, and his ppg are up from 14.5 to 15.2

While opposing power forwards are dominating the matchup, our 1,2,3, and 5 are winning their matchups.

The Pistons have been very soft in the paint this season, and defensively overall, they are not as strong. This has been pointed out by numerous analyst on TV.

But did you watch the Pistons-Spurs games? (I am sorry Spurs fans I just want to show this laker fan my point.) They turn on their defense when they need to. Playing defense costs more energy than playing offense. Come playoff time there's no way for them to forget how to play defense.
The heat got Wade+Shaq which means they are still a very great team. But now they have to seriously learn defense and learn how to make good decision when they are in close games. They always don't win close games against the elite teams.

not to burst your bubble but flip does not make his players play d

especially comparing him to brown and pop

you also can not turn on your d whenever the hell you feel like it

pistons paint points is lower, but the D is still great. we are only giving up 90.3 and thats only because we take less time making plays.

For most teams that's right but this Piston team is built for defense. They didn't make themselves defensively. They are naturally good on defense unlike the spurs and mavs who with a great coach made them good defensively.

Okay this is ridiculous. the heat suck this year. Everyone had them over the pistons during the preseason.. If they can't beat the top 5 teams they arent going anywhere. And they are not beating the Pistons if they can't even beat the Pacers.

Lets say it is a gelling problem, they are still not beating the Pistons.
