Over the last 24 hours, ABC News has been reading hundreds of messages sent in by viewers in response to President Bush's claim that the media are undermining support for war in Iraq.

Viewer opinions ran the gamut, but the vast majority believed the media were biased in their Iraq coverage.

"I ask you this from the bottom of my heart, for a solution to this, because it seems that our major media networks don't want to portray the good," a woman from West Virginia asked President Bush at a recent town hall.

Teena from Wisconsin agreed.

"If we have the capabilities of the media and we can see the blood, bombs, killing and horror, shouldn't we also see the teaching, cleanup, building, training of soldiers … and the many other great things I know our soldiers are doing for us?" she wrote.

But before we do, a note about Laura Ingraham‘s comments. I‘ve known her a long time. I‘ll in fact give you the caveat that I‘ve known her socially.

But that hotel balcony crack was unforgivable. It was unforgivable to the memory of David Bloom, it was unforgivable in consideration of Bob Woodruff and Doug Vogt, it was unforgivable in the light of what happened to Michael Kelly and what happened to Michael Weiskopf. It was unforgivable with Jill Carroll still a hostage in Iraq.

And it‘s not only unforgivable of her, it was desperate, and it was stupid.

I think that if Sean Insannity, Rush Limpballs, or any other of these wingnut media shills who are spreading this latest NeoCon propaganda really think Iraq is safe, then why aren't they broadcasting from there?

Oh Dan - maybe if you'd listen to Laura's show you'd realize how stupid you sound (but, probably not!)

Laura has been very vocal in her support of the journalists who have gone out among the people and troops. She's given high praise to Bob Woodruff and voiced her concern about his injuries.

Laura was in Iraq for 10 days and reported several times EACH day on what she was doing. Those shows were very enlightening, entertaining, and, many times, emotional. She put on the full body armor and went out with the troops.

Listen to something other than the left-wing nutjobs and you might get a different perspective!

BTW, I saw Laura on the Today Show and she was great. She simply said that if the networks can spend all the money to cover the olympics and the "Where in the world is Matt Lauer", then they should be able to go to Iraq and cover EVERYTHING that is happening there. I think it's hilarious that she kicked the hornet's nest and it was the topic of conversation on every news program and talk show for the rest of the week. KUDOS TO LAURA!!! She just said what many of us think!!

High-ranking Pentagon officials have expressed concern that the constant drumbeat of media coverage of US soldiers killed or wounded in the Iraq War -- some of it cleverly disguised as efforts to "remember the fallen" -- may have led to the mistaken impression among the American people that most US soldiers deployed to Iraq are deceased. This is, emphatically, not the case.

"The Department of Defense recently ordered a thorough review of American casualties in Iraq compared to the total number of American troops deployed there," said Pentagon spokesman Lt. Colonel Ernest Smythe. "The findings are quite stunning. While most of the media attention has been paid to the two thousand or so military personnel who have been killed in Iraq, the real story is that well over one hundred thousand American men and women in uniform are not dead at all, and most likely will not become dead during the course of this war. CNN correspondent Nic Robertson went searching for human interest stories in the impoverished neighborhoods just outside the heavily fortified "Green Zone" and found this charming 12-year-old "M.C." who was "busting rhymes" about his new-found freedom, and life in Iraq after the fall of hated dictator Saddam Hussein.

Through a translator, CNN asked al Jumairi if he thought that the United States was "the Shizzle," and he said that it was.

This article was never posted on CNN and there is no such person as M.C. "Shock-N-Awe" al Jumairi.

"Both of her parents are dead and as far as we know she doesn't have any other family, so we kinda adopted her here at the clinic. We fitted her with some prosthetic legs and when she uses her crutches she's almost as fast and agile as a regular girl," said Dr. Kevin Brown, an American doctor at the clinic.
